1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Supreme Court
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 75th Year (Diamond Jubilee Celebrations) of the Supreme Court at the Supreme Court Auditorium in Delhi on 28 January . He also launched citizen-centric information and technology initiatives , including the Digital Supreme Court Report (Digi SCR) , Digital Court 2.0 and a new website of the Supreme Court . Digital Supreme Court Report (SCR) The decisions of the Supreme Court will be available to the countrymen in digital form free of cost. The main feature of the Digital Supreme Court Reports (SCR) is that all 519 volumes of Supreme Court reports since 1950 will be available, containing details of 36,308 cases. Digital Court 2.0 application is an important initiative recently launched under the e-Courts project to provide court records in digital form to the judges of district courts. This is combined with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to transcribe speech on a real-time basis. The Prime Minister also launched the new website of the Supreme Court. The new website will be in bilingual format in English and Hindi and has been redesigned with a user-friendly interface.

3. A 100-bed Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital will be built in Dibrugarh, Assam, this will be the first hospital of its kind in North-East India.
Union Minister for AYUSH and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal along with Chief Minister of Assam , Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with a 100 bedded Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital at Dihing Khamtighat , Dibrugarh inaugurated the Central Yoga and Naturopathy Research Institute (CRIYN) . laid the foundations. With an aim to bring scientifically valid and useful synergy between the traditional knowledge of Yoga and Naturopathy and modern tools of technology, the institute will be developed on approximately 15 acres (45 bighas) of land at an investment of approximately Rs 100 crore. It will set benchmark standards in education, preventive healthcare and research in the field of Yoga and Naturopathy. This state-of-the-art institute will focus on scientific validation of fundamental aspects, traditional systems and practices of medicine through evidence-based research, besides acting as an international collaboration center for global promotion and research in Yoga and Naturopathy. This institute will also act as an incubation center for startups in the yoga and health care sector.
4 ASI releases survey report on Gyanvapi Mosque
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) submitted its survey report of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi to the district court in December 2022 . The report concludes that the remains of an old Hindu temple existed at this location before the present mosque structure was built. ASI used ground penetrating radar, differential global positioning system and scientific dating methods for the survey . These advanced techniques provided evidence about underground structures without excavation, the precise location of artifacts, and the age of very old objects at the site. The discovery matches descriptions from Persian chronicles and historians over the years that a Hindu temple near the Kashi Vishwanath temple was demolished on the orders of Aurangzeb in the 17th century . In the Persian book Maasir-e-Alamgiri, written soon after Aurangzeb’s death in 1707, in 1669 to destroy Hindu temples. This also included the demolition of the Vishwanath temple in Kashi. Historian Jadunath Sarkar’s translation of this text became important evidence for the ASI report.

Cameroon launched a historic malaria vaccine program on January 22 , which will cover 2.5 million children over two years . 95% of global malaria mortality occurs in Africa, so curbing infections here is vital. There are 250 million cases of malaria annually in sub-Saharan Africa, including 600,000 child deaths. Vaccination will relieve this enormous burden on the continent’s health systems and economies while saving the lives of families. Cameron aims to demonstrate the benefits of the vaccine as a proof of concept.
6 Amrit Dharohar Capacity Building Scheme
The Central Government is leading a significant transformation in the field of wetland tourism under the ‘ Amrit Heritage Capacity Building Scheme ‘. The initiative was launched in June 2023 with an aim to revolutionize tourism practices at ecologically sensitive wetlands , especially Ramsar sites like Chilika Lake in Odisha and Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary in Haryana . ‘Amrit Heritage Capacity Building Scheme’ was started in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The scheme was implemented to encourage maximum use of wetlands and enhance biodiversity, carbon stocks, ecotourism opportunities and income generation for local communities. The primary objective of the plan is to strategically transition from high-volume tourism to high-value nature tourism on ecologically sensitive wetlands. Its objective is to increase livelihood opportunities for local communities by harnessing the nature-tourism potential of Ramsar sites across the country.

In shooting, the Indian pair of Rhythm Sangwan and Ujjwal Malik won the ISSF in Cairo. Has won the first gold medal for India in the Shooting World Cup 2024 . Italy’s Yannick Sinner defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in the Australian Open men ‘s singles final in Melbourne . The 22-year-old fourth seed Sinner made a strong comeback from two sets down against Medvedev and won his first major trophy in the form of Australian Open . With the win, Sinner became the first Italian man to win a Slam since Adriano Panatta in 1976 and also ended Novak Djokovic’s 33-match winning streak at the Australian Open. 10 Uttarakhand to introduce Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill
Uttarakhand government to introduce Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in upcoming assembly session of 5-8 February may introduce . This key bill was part of the BJP’s election promises in 2022. The UCC Drafting Committee was formed in June 2022 and has conducted extensive public consultations. It claims to have received more than 2 lakh written applications and met 20,000 people. The final draft focuses on issues such as gender equality, equal property rights and adoption rules. It is currently being printed before being presented in the Assembly. The objective of this bill is to eliminate discrimination and arbitrariness in civil laws on the basis of religion. It is proposed to introduce uniform rules in respect of marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption etc.

13 Madhika language on the verge of extinction
The Chakaliya group in the remote colony of Kookanam near Karivelur gram panchayat in Kerala faces the imminent loss of their language, Madhika . Currently there are only two people left who are the last fluent speakers of Madhika. He fears that due to his death this language might become extinct from the world. The neglect of Madhika is attributed to the social hatred associated with the Chakaliya community and they were considered untouchable. Madhika is a language that has no script and is a mixture of Telugu, Tulu, Kannada and Malayalam. Despite being similar to Kannada, it confuses listeners due to its various linguistic influences. Madhika is largely influenced by Havyaka Kannada, an older form of Kannada. Due to the lack of documentation (no scripts) and the demise of older speakers, there is a significant risk that Madhika may not survive beyond individuals. The Chakaliya community was basically nomadic and worshipers of Thiruvenkatraman and Mariamma. They were in Karnataka centuries ago. They migrated to North Malabar from the hilly areas of . Originally classified as a Scheduled Tribe, this community was later reclassified into the Scheduled Caste group in Kerala.
