1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Mission to Eradicate Sickle Cell Anemia in Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  launched   the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission 2047  at  Lalpur village  in  Shahdol district  of  Madhya Pradesh . The Prime Minister   also launched the distribution of three crore fifty seven lakh Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana cards. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that half of the total number of sickle cell anemia cases in the world are in India, but even after 70 years of independence, this has not been taken care of. This disease is more prevalent among the tribal people and a campaign has been started from today to eradicate it. Prime Minister said Ayushman Bharat card  five lakh rupees in poor man’s pocket It is like an ATM card with the help of which he can get treatment anywhere in the country.

2 Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress in New Delhi

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  addressed   the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress  at Pragati Maidan in  New Delhi  on the occasion of  International Cooperative Day . The main theme of the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress is ‘ Amrit Kaal: Prosperity through Cooperation for a Vibrant India ‘. Shri Modi launched  e-portal of e-commerce website for cooperative marketing, cooperative extension and advisory service portal. Launched. The National Cooperative Union of India has organized a two-day Indian Cooperative Conference. Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is presiding over it. According to the Ministry of Cooperatives, the objective of the conference is to discuss various trends in the cooperative movement, best practices of successful cooperative organizations and the challenges faced by the cooperative sector. More than 3500 representatives associated with the cooperative sector are participating in the conference.

3 G-20 meeting of business group B-20 begins in Gujarat’s Surat

 Under India’s presidency of  G-20 , business group meeting  B-20   began in Surat, Gujarat . In the meeting, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister  Sarbananda Sonowal  told global business leaders that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India today has become the fifth largest economy in the world and has emerged as an attractive investment destination. Shri Sonowal said that the Government is determined to strengthen the infrastructure in the country and capital expenditure on infrastructure has increased substantially during the last nine years. He said that in the last nine years the conditions have become favorable for the industry in the country. Shri Sonowal said that India has now become a global hub of excellent digital infrastructure.

4 Government allowed public sector banks and eligible private sector banks to implement and operate Mahila Samman Savings Certificate 2023

The government has  permitted public sector banks  and eligible  private sector banks  to   implement and operate the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate 2023 .  The account can be opened on or before March 31, 2025  for a tenure of  two years under this scheme  . With this the scheme will now also be available for subscription at post offices and eligible scheduled banks.  The Finance Ministry said that the scheme is operational from  April 1 this year through the Department of Posts.  The amount can be deposited within the limit of a minimum of one thousand rupees  and  a maximum of two lakh rupees . Seven and a half percent per annum on deposits made under the scheme  Interest will be charged at the rate of 10% which will be compounded quarterly. Thus the effective interest rate will be around 7.7 percent. The scheme   was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 . Account holders will be eligible to withdraw up to a maximum of 40 percent of the amount in the scheme account.

5 Construction of dam at Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project completed

 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project  located in Arunachal Pradesh  and  Assam and  being implemented by  NHPC Limited Towards completion and achieving a significant milestone, the construction of the dam up to the highest level of Top Elevation Level (EL) of 210 meters in all the blocks has been completed on June 29, 2023. [Elevation level here means height with respect to sea level.] National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has informed that more than 90 per cent work of the project has already been completed. The construction work of all the major components including Dam, Power House and Hydromechanical Works is progressing towards fast completion. The remaining work of radial gates will be completed after the monsoon season and power generation is expected to start by the end of the financial year 2023-24. Upon completion, the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project will generate electricity at a rate of approximately 7,500 million kilowatt-hours annually, in a 90 percent-dependable year.

6 Merger of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited and HDFC Bank

 The merger of  Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited  and  HDFC Bank  has come into effect from 1 July . The Board of Directors approved the merger. After this merger, HDFC  Bank  has become the fourth largest bank in the world . All employees of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited will be treated as employees of HDFC Bank from today. The merger was announced about 15 months ago on April 4, 2022, putting an end to two decades of speculation about their merger.

7 Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched a campaign to convert 75 lighthouses of the country into tourist places

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways  Sarbananda Sonowal  has   launched a campaign to convert 75 lighthouses  of the country  into tourist destinations from Dwarka  in  Gujarat . The Union Minister inaugurated the first three major lighthouses at Dwarka, Gopnath and Veraval. The initiative aims to showcase the rich culture and importance of these magnificent structures, thereby boosting tourism and strengthening the local economy. The newly developed lighthouse will have various tourist facilities including musical fountains, museum and selfie point.

8 US Supreme Court rejects President Joe Biden’s $400 billion student loan forgiveness proposal

The Supreme Court   in  the US has  ordered President Joe to forgive  $400 billion in student loans  . Biden  ‘s plan  has been rejected  . In the Supreme Court, three judges were in favor of the scheme while six judges were against it.  Judges called Biden’s plan to forgive the debt of 26 million Americans  unconstitutional and beyond the President’s jurisdiction . A day earlier, the Supreme Court   had disallowed caste-based admissions in colleges . The Supreme Court   directed two US universities, including Harvard , to stop race-based admissions. Presidential elections are to be held in America in 2024  and in preparation for this, the Democratic Party is making several populist announcements. Waiver of education loans of lakhs of students was also a part of this.

9 Indian Navy’s Rana and Sumedha warships conducted a sea exercise with French Naval Ship Sarcouf in the Bay of Bengal yesterday

Indian Naval  Ship  INS Rana , a Guided Missile Destroyer and indigenously built Offshore Patrol Vessel  INS Sumedha  conducted Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX)  with  French Naval  Ship FS  Surcouf  in  the Bay of Bengal  on 30 June 2023  . Fayette class frigate Surcouf visited Visakhapatnam from 26 to 29 June 2023 and participated in a number of activities with Indian Navy ships, including professional and social engagements, sports events and cross deck visits.

10 Union Home & Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah approves release of Rs.6,194.40 crore to 19 State Governments under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)

Union Home and Cooperation Minister  Shri Amit Shah  has  released Rs 6,194.40 crore  to  19 State Governments  under  the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Issuance approved. In this amount for the year 2022-23, 4 states (Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh) will get Rs 1,209.60 crore as central share of SDRF and 15 states (Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Tripura) comprises Rs 4,984.80 crore for the year 2023-24. This amount can be used by the states for relief measures during the current monsoon season. The Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has already approved the release of Rs.3649.40 crore as Central Share of SDRF to 09 States during the year 2023-24. Based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, the Central Government has allocated Rs 1,28,122.40 crore for SDRF for the years 2021-22 to 2025-26.

11 Indian Air Force to conduct exercise Tarang Shakti

The Indian Air Force (IAF)   is preparing to conduct an important multilateral exercise named Tarang Shakti . The aim of the exercise   is to enhance military cooperation with the air forces of 12 countries . It is expected to be the largest ever air exercise ever conducted in India, involving participation from various countries and their military assets. Though the location of the exercise has not been disclosed, air forces of countries such as France, Australia, the US and the United Kingdom are expected to join the wave force. The exercise   is scheduled to take place in October-November this year. Six air forces will actively participate in the exercise, while the rest of the countries will participate as observers. However, the final approval for the exercise is pending from the government.

12 Startups from nine states of India become winners of Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Dialogue 2022

Twelve top start-ups  from   9  Indian states working in agriculture, ed-tech, women’s livelihood, circular economy and biodiversity were   declared winners at the  5th edition  of  Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Dialogue India .  Co-created  in 2017  by  the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)  and  the City Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims  to set a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower  and invest in  youth, so that they can Accelerate Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) implementation through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship. Youth Co: Lab Co  in 2019  was launched in India in partnership with NITI Aayog  ‘s  Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) . In the year 2022-23 edition, 378 applications were received from 28 states across the country.

13 new appointments in the Central Bureau of Investigation

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has   approved the proposals of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for the appointments of these IPS officers in the  Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) . Ajay Bhatnagar (IPS)  has been appointed as Special Director  in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  . Bhatnagar is a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Jharkhand cadre. Anurag (IPS)  has   been appointed as Additional Director in CBI . Anurag is a 1994 batch IPS officer of Tripura cadre. Presently, he is posted as Joint Director in the agency. Manoj Shashidhar (IPS)  has been  made Additional Director in CBI. has also been appointed. Shashidhar is a 1994 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre. Presently he is posted as Joint Director in the same institute. Whereas,  Sharad Agarwal (IPS) , who is currently serving as Joint Director in CBI, has been   given extension of tenure for a period of one year.

14 Historic agreement signed between Gujarat government and American chip maker Micron Technology

The Gujarat government  signed an MoU with US –  based   computer storage chip maker  Micron  to set up a  USD 2.75 billion semiconductor assembly and test facility at Sanand  in  Ahmedabad  district   on 28 June 2023  . The Rs 22,500 crore project is an important milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance in memory chip manufacturing. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Micron Technology Senior Vice President Gursharan Singh were present at the MoU signing ceremony.

15 Canada launches ‘Digital Nomad Strategy’ for foreign workers

Canada  has taken a proactive approach to address the shortage of skilled workers  , particularly  in the technology industry . During Collision’s tech conference in Toronto, the country’s immigration minister   announced the launch of a digital nomad strategy aimed at attracting talented individuals from around the world. Under the strategy, foreign workers are allowed to stay in Canada for up to six months. If they receive job offers during their stay, they have the opportunity to extend their time in the country. This initiative is designed to address the shortage of skilled professionals in the Canadian tech sector.

16 Gustav Klimt painting auctioned for $108 million

A painting by renowned  Austrian  artist  Gustav Klimt  has created history with its sale at an auction in London. Gustav Klimt’s final work, titled ” Dame mit Fächer ” or ” Lady with a Fan “, fetched an astonishing £85.3 million ($108 million)  at Sotheby’s  . The sale made it  the most expensive artwork ever sold at a European auction. thereby cementing Klimt’s position as one of the most sought-after artists in the world. After Gustav Klimt died in 1918, his last portrait was found on an easel in his Vienna studio. The artwork, depicting an unidentified woman in a kimono, displays Klimt’s distinctive richly expressive style, drawing inspiration from Chinese motifs and Japanese woodblock patterns.

Renowned British children’s author and performance poet  Michael Rosen  has been honored with  the prestigious  PEN Pinter Prize 2023 . The honor  is given to a writer from the UK, Ireland and the Commonwealth  whose work fearlessly exposes the truth about contemporary life. 18 China established National Defense Mobilization Offices

China  has adopted innovative approaches to mobilizing its troops, seeking to enhance its preparedness in the event of contingencies or tensions. These developments have led to   the establishment of National Defense Mobilization Offices (NDMOs) , which perform important functions at the local level. NDMOs have been established in various cities and regions of China. These offices play a key role in economic mobility, civil air defense mobility, traffic preparedness, equipment mobility, technology mobility, planning and implementation of mobility processes. They act as key coordinators in the management and implementation of mobilization efforts within their respective jurisdictions.

19 Canara Bank launches UPI payment facility through RuPay Credit Card

Canara Bank  has launched UPI payment facility  through  RuPay Credit Card  for merchants  .  Canara Bank has become  the first public sector bank in India to launch UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payments for merchants through its RuPay credit card. Thanks to a partnership with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI),  this facility is now available within the bank’s ‘Canara AI1’ banking super app.
