 During his visit to  Greece , Prime Minister Narendra Modi  paid  homage at the  ‘ Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ‘ ​​in Athens . The ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ ​​located in Syntagma Square in Athens   stands as a poignant tribute to the Greek soldiers who sacrificed their lives in various conflicts. Located opposite the Old Royal Palace  , this monument holds deep historical significance. It commemorates the valor and sacrifice of the nameless soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of their nation during various wars.

2 Indian Air Force participated in Exercise Bright Star-23 held at Cairo Air Base, Egypt

A contingent of the Indian Air Force (IAF)  departed  to participate in  the biennial multilateral tri-services Exercise  BRIGHT STAR-23, to  be held from August 27 to September 16, 2023 at  Cairo  (West) Air Base, Egypt . The Indian Air Force is participating for the first time in this Exercise Bright Star-23 event which will also see the participation of air force contingents from the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Qatar. The Indian Air Force contingent   will consist of five MiG-29, two IL-78, two C-130 and two C-17 aircraft. Garuda Special Forces and personnel from No. 28, 77, 78 and 81 Squadrons of the Indian Air Force will participate in the exercise.

3 Annual Kandy Esala Perahara being celebrated with reverence at the Sacred Tooth Relic Temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka

 The annual  Kandy Esala Perahara  is being celebrated with reverence at  the  Sacred Tooth Relic Temple  in  Kandy , Sri Lanka . This sacred dental relic is believed to have divine powers. It was brought from India in the 4th century and since then it   is worshiped as a living Buddha in Sri Lanka. Devotees reach Kandy to have a glimpse of the holy relic in this ten-day event. The concept of Perahara   became popular during the time of Emperor Ashoka . The ceremony will conclude on 30 August.

4 Sri Lanka hosted its first Carnatic Cultural Festival

Sri Lanka  hosted  its first  Karnataka Cultural Festival . It was organized   by  the International Cultural Council of India  in association with Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center  and  ME Global Peace Foundation . More than thirty artistes from Karnataka put up a scintillating performance during the festival. These include dance, folk songs, poems in different languages, ballet and puppet shows. The program showcased the heritage of Karnataka and showcased the talents of Madhuri Bondre and her colleagues. The event symbolized the cultural diversity and shared cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka.

5 UP cabinet approves 18 Atal residential schools at a cost of Rs 1,250 crore

The Uttar Pradesh  cabinet   has approved the development of 18 Atal residential schools  on the lines of   centrally run  Navodaya Vidyalayas at a cost of Rs 1,250 crore . The 18 Atal residential schools being set up in the state will function as centers of excellence for the education of destitute children during the Corona period. These schools are being established by the state government for the purpose of education and social justice. Their implementation and management will be done by the Atal Awasis Vidyalaya Samiti, whose rules have been prepared.

6 Assam to ban single-use plastic

 The state cabinet headed by the Chief Minister of  Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma  has recently taken an important decision. The government   has banned drinking water bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with  a volume of less than 1 liter  from October 2 . Announcement to ban single use plastic in the state from October 2 this year  Has been done. On 23 August 2023, the Assam Environment and Forest Department has issued a notification. It has been told in this notification that items made of Single Use Plastic (SUP), which have a high potential for spreading waste, are not biodegradable, but cause damage to the environment in the long run and are a threat to environmental health. Proves to be dangerous. Therefore, they are banned as per this notification, and a ban has been imposed on making, buying, selling, and stocking them.

7 India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2022 winners announced

Indore  has won  the award for  the country’s  best smart city . Indore has been declared the best smart city for doing the best work under the smart city project of the central government. Along with Indore,  Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Sagar  bagged the maximum number of awards in the state’s share. As a result, Madhya Pradesh is also being given the Best State Award in the country under the Smart City Project. In October last year,  Indore was voted  India’s cleanest city for the sixth time in a row  . Chandigarh  has secured the first position among Union Territories. Madhya Pradesh  has been recognized as the best state in the Smart City Mission  . Best in State Category Tamil Nadu came second and Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh shared the third place  . Indore emerged as the winner in the best city category leaving behind Surat and Agra. President  Draupadi Murmu  will distribute these awards at a function to be organized in Indore  on 27 September  .

8 Clean Air Survey – Indore secured first position in 2023

Indore city  has   topped  the category of cities with a population of more than 10 lakh  in  the Clean Air Survey-2023  conducted by  the Central Pollution Control Board . 2nd to Agra, 3rd to Thane, 4th to Srinagar and 5th to Bhopal have been found. On the other hand, Jabalpur has secured 13th position and Gwalior has secured 41st position in the state. The survey results not only reflect the dedicated efforts of the city, but also highlight the overall progress made by several cities in Madhya Pradesh. In the Clean Air Survey-2023, Madhya Pradesh has shown a remarkable dominance, especially in the category of cities with a population of more than 1 million. Two of the top five spots were bagged by cities in the state. While Indore secured the first position, Bhopal secured a commendable fifth rank. This achievement reinforces Madhya Pradesh’s proactive approach to tackle pollution and promote clean air quality.

9 UNESCO and Telangana Government Partnership

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)  and   the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) Department of the  Government of Telangana  have entered into a pioneering partnership to incorporate the ethics of AI  into the essence of  Artificial Intelligence systems . This partnership is designed to make a deep impact on the development and use of AI, while ensuring that the benefits are shared across all sections of society. The partnership aims to deeply integrate the ethics of AI into the core of artificial intelligence systems.

10 Education Ministry launches Smart India Hackathon

 The Innovation  Cell  of the Ministry of Education  and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has  launched the 6th edition of  Smart India Hackathon (SIH)  . Under this, innovative ideas can be submitted till 30th September to participate in Senior SIH and 30th October for Junior SIH. 12 Iran inaugurates Muhajir-10 drone

Iran  inaugurated  the Muhajir-10 drone  which  is capable of striking Israel  . This drone is capable of flying continuously for 24 hours. According to media reports,  the range of this drone is 2 thousand km  and it can fly at a speed of 210 km/h. The Mohajir drone can carry different weapons and bombs. It is also capable of carrying a 300 kg warhead and gathering intelligence. This drone in Iran is like the MQ-9 drone of America. This drone is capable of flying at an altitude of 7 thousand meters.

Goa  Governor  PS Sreedharan Pillai  released three books  at an event held at Raj Bhavan  . He has recently written three new books namely ‘ Heritage Trees of Goa ‘, ‘ When Parallel Lines Meet ‘ and ‘ Ente Priya Kavitakal ‘ (‘My Dear Poems’ – Collections of Poems). Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the program in Panaji, Goa. West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose unveiled the book ‘Heritage Trees of Goa’. Goa State Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and Jnanpith awardee Damodar Maujo released the other two books: ‘When Parallel Lines Meet’ and ‘Ente Priya Kavitakal’.

14 BHEL manufactured India’s first Catalyst set

Public sector engineering company  Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has successfully completed the manufacturing of the first set of  indigenous ‘ Selective Catalyst Reactor ‘ (SCR). This will help the company  limit NOx emissions from thermal power plants  . This system helps in emission control. According to the statement issued by BHEL, these Selective Catalyst Reactors (SCR) are still being imported. This is an important milestone under the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the government. 17 CCI imposes fine on Bharti Airtel

 The Competition Commission  of India has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on Bharti Airtel  in a non-compliance case   with reference to the conditions specified in Section 6(2) of the Competition Act, 2002 .  The case pertains to Bharti Airtel’s  acquisition of Lion Meadow ‘s stake in Bharti Telemedia.

18 Upi Lite: instead of 200, now up to 500 rupees will be able to offline

The Reserve Bank of India  (RBI)   increased  the maximum amount for  offline payments  through  UPI-Lite wallets from Rs 200 to Rs 500  in  areas with no internet or weak signal . People can now make offline payments up to Rs 500 through UPI Lite Wallet, even in areas with no internet or weak signal.  However, the total amount that can be transacted through this facility on any payment platform is still  limited to Rs 2,000 .

19 Neeraj Chopra won gold in the World Championship

Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra  has   won the gold medal  in  the World Athletics Championship 2023 . Neeraj had definitely fouled the first throw, but in the second throw he   won gold by throwing the javelin 88.17 meters away. The championship   took place in Budapest, Hungary . Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan finished second in this championship   .  This is the first gold for India  in the track and field category  of  the World Athletics Championship . Neeraj has become the first Indian to win gold in this category. Earlier,  Anju Bobby George  won  the bronze medal in long jump in 2003. had won While Neeraj won the silver medal in the 2022 Championship. Neeraj has also qualified for Paris Olympics 2024. The Paris Olympics will be played from 26 July 2024 to 11 August 2024. Apart from Neeraj, India’s DP Manu and Kishore Jena were also in the fray for a medal in the final of Javelin Throw. But Kishore remained fifth and Manu remained sixth.
