Prime Minister  Narendra Modi   will inaugurate  the modern Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center campus  in  Bengaluru . The Boeing India campus,  built   on  an area of ​​43 acres at a cost of Rs 1,600 crore,  is considered to be the largest center outside America . This center will help in developing next generation products and services for the aviation sector and defense industry. The Prime Minister will also launch the Boeing Sukanya program at the inauguration ceremony. This will support girls to pursue careers in the country’s growing aviation sector. The program will provide opportunities for girls and women across the country to learn critical skills in STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 150 such STEM laboratories will be opened in the country to make career in aviation sector. Under this, scholarship will also be given to women who want to take training as pilots.

2 Prime Minister Narendra Modi released commemorative postage stamps on Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  released   six special commemorative postage stamps  dedicated to  Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple . He also released a booklet containing a compilation of postage stamps on Lord Ram issued in different countries of the world. The design of the postage stamp includes images of Ram Temple, Chaupai-Mangal Bhavan, Amangal Hari, Surya, Saryu River and statues of the temple and its surroundings.

3 Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurates Asia’s largest aviation expo – Wings India 2024

 “ Wings India 24 ”   , the largest  four-day event for civil aviation  in  Asia  , begins in Hyderabad . Spanning commercial, general and business aviation sectors, the theme of the show is “ Connecting India to the World in the Age of Amrit: Setting the stage for India Civil Aviation @2047 ”. The Global Aviation Summit  held at   Begumpet  Airport, Hyderabad was inaugurated  by  the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel,  Shri Jyotiraditya M. 5 3 day Smart Cities India Expo is being organized in New Delhi

The 9th Smart Cities India Expo  is being organized  from January 17 to 19, 2024  at Pragati Maidan,  New Delhi  . 6 External Affairs Minister Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar will represent India in the Non-Aligned Summit starting in Uganda

The two-day 19th summit of the   member countries of  the Non-Aligned Movement  will begin in Kampala ,  the capital of  Uganda . External Affairs Minister  Dr. S. Jaishankar  will lead the Indian delegation at the conference. Before this, discussions will be held at the level of ministers and senior officials. Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan  will represent India in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held before the conference. Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan will represent the country at the 3rd G-77 Summit of Underdeveloped and Developing Countries on January 21 and 22 in Kampala.

7. Governor of Reserve Bank of India said at the World Economic Forum in Davos – India’s economy is likely to grow at the rate of 7.3% in the current financial year.

Reserve Bank of India  Governor  Shaktikanta Das  has emphasized that   according to the first advance estimate of  the National Statistical Office-NSO,  India’s economy  is expected to grow at the rate of  seven point three percent in the financial year 2024 . He   said this during a conversation at an event of the World Economic Forum-WEF  in  Davos  ,  Switzerland . Shri Das said that India’s growth momentum will remain intact in the coming years. He said that this comment is based on various in-house research and analyses. Mr Das said that after a contraction of five.8 per cent in FY2021, the Indian economy grew by nine.1 per cent in FY2022 and seven.2 per cent in FY2023. Notably, global ratings agency Fitch Ratings has affirmed India’s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating at BBB-minus.

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA)  has  signed an MoU with  Indian Overseas Bank (IOB)  to collaborate in co-landing and loan syndication for a diverse range of renewable energy projects in the country. The stage for efforts  has been set. Covering a range of services, the MoU includes provisions for providing joint lending and co-origination support for all renewable energy projects. The objective of this partnership is to streamline loan syndication and underwriting processes, management of Trust and Retention Account (TRA) for IREDA borrowers and to bring about fixed interest rates for a tenure of 3-4 years for IREDA loans. 11 Government approves equity investment for setting up two thermal power plants

The Committee on Economic Affairs of  the Union Cabinet   has approved the proposal for equity investment for  two thermal power plants  in the country. These plants  will be set up by subsidiaries of Coal India Limited  . Their aim is to provide affordable electricity to the people at a reasonable cost. One of these plants  will be set up  in  Madhya Pradesh under the name of Amarkantak Thermal Electric Power Station  . It  will be operated as a joint venture by South-East Coal Fields Limited  and  Madhya Pradesh Vidyut Utpadan Company Limited  . Additionally, the second  supercritical thermal power station  will be set up  by  Mahanadi Basin Power Limited in Sundergarh district  of  Odisha .

Pench Tiger Reserve   in  Maharashtra  has created history by gaining recognition as  India’s inaugural  Dark Sky Park , the fifth in Asia  . This prestigious acknowledgment underlines the reserve’s unwavering commitment to protecting the sacredness of the night sky and creating an optimal setting for astronomy enthusiasts. The International Union for Conservation of Nature played a key role in granting this designation, recognizing the intrinsic value of the night sky as a natural, cultural and historical resource. Prabhu Nath Shukla, Deputy Director of the Reserve, highlighted the importance for nature conservation to preserve natural darkness, maintain ecological integrity and contribute to the well-being of communities in urban centres.

13 Switzerland becomes host of Ukraine peace summit

Ukrainian  President  Volodymyr Zelensky  has   secured Switzerland ‘s agreement  to host  a global peace summit  aimed at resolving the conflict arising from  Russia ‘s incursion  into  Ukraine  on  February 24, 2022 . Switzerland, known for its neutrality and previous mediation roles, will facilitate talks to find a solution. Zelensky revealed during a press conference in Bern with Swiss counterpart Viola Emhardt that the participants of the peace summit have not yet been finalized. However, he stressed the invitation to countries that respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, pointing to inclusivity.

The trials will be conducted on 51 individuals aged 18 to 55 and will be led by the Oxford Vaccine Group.
