1.India’s First Dinosaur Museum Park Inaugurated In Gujarat:-

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated India’s first Dinosaur-Museum-cum-Park in the Mahisagar district. It is set to give visitors a Jurassic Park kind of feel.The museum is located in Raiyoli area in Balasinor exhibit remains of various dinosaurs and fossil records.Dinosaur Museum cum Park is the first park in the country and the world’s third park.Raiyoli area is the third largest dinosaur fossil site in the world and it is also the second largest dinosaur hatchery in the world, where thousands of eggs had been found.

2.Ministry For Information And Broadcasting Instituted Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman (AYDMS):-

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has instituted its first Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman (AYDMS). It was announced by the Minister Prakash Javadekar.The aim of the award is to acknowledge the positive role & responsibility of media in disseminating the outreach of Yoga in India and abroad.The award will be conferred to Media Houses engaged in Print Media, Electronic and (Television & Radio).

Prize: 

  • The award comprises of a special medal/plaque/trophy and a citation.
  • Six juries will assess the contribution of Media in the popularising of Yoga. The duration of the coverage for AYDMS would be from 10th June to 25th June 2019.
  • Announcement of the honors will be announced and Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman (AYDMS) ceremony in July 2019.

 

3.Prime Minister Narendra Modi To Lead The Event Of #YogaDay2019 At Ranchi:-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the International Day of Yoga 2019 celebrations to be held in Ranchi on June 21.  Around 30,000 people are expected to participate in the main event.This function will attend to by several State Dignitaries, besides the Yoga Organisations and Yoga Gurus.Ministry of AYUSH planned every year observation of the International Day of Yoga across the country.The ministry successfully organized several programs during the last four years in connection with the International Day of Yoga.Nearly two-minute long video shows a 3D-animated version of the prime minister performing the Ardha Chakrasana or the Half Moon Pose in a spacious room as a voiceover guides viewers through a step-by-step procedure of the yoga.

  • May 21 is referred to as Yoga Day and celebrated since its inception in 2015. International day for yoga was declared by United Nations General Assembly.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested a date of 21 June as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.
  • 4.Organizing the Marine Information Sharing Workshop 2019:- 

The protection and security of the oceans in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) is important for the global trade and economic prosperity of many countries. The scope of activities in the ocean , region and multinational nature shows the need for a collaborative approach to maritime security. Keeping this in mind, Defense Minister inaugurated Information Fusion Center- Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) in December 2018. This has been done to increase the oceanic defense and security in this area. This center has established relationships with more than 16 countries and 13 international maritime security agencies.

To help in sharing best practices in the field of maritime information sharing and better understanding of maritime security challenges in the Indian Ocean region in the IOR, the marine information sharing workshop was held from 12th to 13th June 2019 in Indian Navy IFC-IOR. (MISW). More than 50 representatives from around 30 countries will participate in this workshop. In this workshop, interactive seminars will be organized by subject matter experts from the participating countries for trafficking of piracy, human and drug trafficking and legal aspects to deal with these challenges. The practice of sharing information in this workshop will also be organized. Deputy Chief of the Indian Navy will inaugurate this workshop

 

5.mitav Ghosh to be honoured with Jnanpith Award 2018:-

The Jnanpith award for the year 2018 will be given to the noted English writer Amitav Ghosh. Former Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi will present the award to him at a function in New Delhi today. The award is given for outstanding contribution in literature.

6.West Bengal CM installs new bust of social reformer Iswhar Chandra Vidyasagar:-

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday installed a new bust of 19th century social reformer Iswhar Chandra Vidyasagar at the college in Kolkata where an old one was vandalised last month.  She also unveiled an 8.5-ft pristine white fibre-glass statue of Vidyasagar in the courtyard of the college.Eminent poets, writers and senior ministers were also present at the programme.

7.Udupi’s Amasebailu becomes Karnataka’s first solar-powered Gram Panchayat:-

Amasebailu in Kundapura Taluk of Udupi district has become Karnataka’s first solar-powered Gram Panchayat.  Over 1800 houses were provided solar lamps at a total cost of 2.13 crore rupees. The project was funded by Centre and State Government in the ratio of 30:20 and the rest was paid by the Panchayat and charitable organizations.Amasebailu Charitable Trust President A G Kodgi has said that the solar lamps have a guarantee of five years and any faulty lamps will be replaced by the supplier within the guarantee period.

8.Sri Lankan Airlines Named World’s Most Punctual Air Service For Second Consecutive Time:-

SriLankan Airlines named as the ‘World’s Most Punctual Airline‘ for the second consecutive time with over 90 percent of its flights in May. This status was achieved for the second time in less than 12 months.They achieved a punctuality rating of 91.37 percent reports Xinhua news agency. In a may month they achieved a punctuality rating of 90.75 percent. Flightstats analyzed 41 carriers data from Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and South America and includes most of the world’s most prestigious airlines.The punctuality rating of 90.75% by SriLankan Airlines in May 2019 facing challenges caused by heightened security at airline’s hub at Bandaranaike International Airport (in Sri Lankan capital Colombo).

9.United States claim biggest ever Women’s Fifa World Cup win:-

In Football, the United States recorded the biggest-ever victory in the Fifa Women’s World Cup last night when they crushed Thailand, 13-nil in a Group-F match at Reims in France. Alex Morgan scored five times for the three-time winners and defending champions. Rose Lavelle and Samantha Mewis netted two goals each. Lindsey Horan, Megan Rapinoe, Mallory Pugh and Carli Lloyd were also on the score sheet as the US broke Germany’s record of an 11-nil win over Argentina in 2007.The US has lost just one international game since July 2017 and has now won seven games in a row. They have scored 36 goals in the process and have not conceded in five matches.In Pool-E, the Netherlands defeated New Zealand, one-nil at Le Havre, while Sweden beat Chile, two-zero at Rennes.

Today, in Group-A, Nigeria will take on South Korea at 6:30 PM (Indian Time), while France will play Norway at 12:30 AM. In Pool-B, Germany will meet Spain at 9:30 PM.

10.RBI constitutes committee to review ATM pricing:

The Reserve Bank of India has constituted a six-member committee to review the entire gamut of ATM charges and fees. In a press release, the RBI said, Chief Executive of Indian Banks’ Association VG Kannan will chair the committee consisting of senior officers from National Payments Corporation of India, SBI, HDFC Bank, Confederation of ATM Industry and Tata Communications Payment Solutions Limited. The committee will review existing patterns of costs, charges and interchange fees for ATM transactions. It is to submit its report within two months from the date of its first meeting.

11.Mahindra Group Won Gold Award In South Africa:-

Mahindra Company has 60 dealers in South Africa secured top position out of which 29 vehicle brands surveyed for the awards.
