1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with the French Prime Minister, discussed measures to strengthen mutual relations :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met French Prime Minister Edward Phillip before the French President Emanuele Macran’s visit to India next month and has discussed better ways to strengthen mutual relations. A meeting was held between Mr. Modi and Mr. Philip on the occasion of World Government Conference in Dubai. The two leaders discussed the measures for strengthening strategic partnership between India and France. State Department spokesman Ravish Kumar tweeted that Shri Narendra Modi said that he is waiting for the visit of French President Emanuel Macran to India next month.

Significant progress has been made in cooperation with regular high level talks between India and France, and increased commercial exchanges including important areas like defense, nuclear energy and space.

 

2.India and Oman sign eight agreements including defense, health and tourism :-

India and Oman have signed eight agreements in different areas. These include the defense, health and tourism sector agreements. There has also been agreement on legal and judicial cooperation in civil and commercial issues. These agreements were signed after the delegation level talks with Musafat on Sunday night with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Sultan Qabus bin Said Al Said of Oman.

External Affairs Ministry spokesman Ravi Kumar said in a tweet message that there was a broad dialogue on the measures to increase trade and investment, energy, defense, food security and cooperation in regional affairs between the Sultan of Mr. Modi and Oman.

Shri Narendra Modi discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation in the fields of mutual interest with Oman’s international relations and Deputy Prime Minister Syed Asad Tariq al-Said.

After winning with the massive majority of opposition coalition led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in local body elections in Sri Lanka, President Mittal Sirisena has said that they will make major changes in the government.

The alliance with the President and the Prime Minister has suffered a major setback in the results of local body elections on Saturday.

Under the leadership of former President Rajapakse, the coalition won 44.65 percent of the total seats while the United National Party under the leadership of Pradhan Mantri received 32.63 percent of total seats.

 

5.Passenger plane crash in Russia, 71 killed :-

A passenger car carrying 71 people in Russia has crashed near Moscow. A total of 71 people, including six crew members, died in the plane.

According to the media reports, this AN 148 jet plane from Saratov Airlines of Russia took off from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport to Urk City of Urals. Shortly after the flight, the plane crashed and fell into the district of Ramenski near Moscow.

In the outskirts of Moscow, the witnesses saw the burning aircraft falling in the Argunovo village. According to sources, the debris of the aircraft has spread over a large area at the accident site.

8.Government committed to provide power to non-power houses by 2019- Power Minister Rajkumar Singh  :-

Central Electricity and New and Renewable Energy Minister Rajkumar Singh has said that the government is committed to provide power to non-power houses till 2019. He said that out of 18 thousand 450 villages, electricity has been provided to more than 16 thousand 800 villages.

In Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Shri Singh said that in order to achieve this, the ‘Prime Minister Sahitya electricity every household scheme’ – ‘good fortune’ has been started in September last year. This plan will benefit about 40 million households.
