1. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to dedicate to the nation the Helicopter Factory of HAL at Tumakuru, Karnataka on 6 February
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation a helicopter factory of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at Tumakuru , Karnataka on February 06, 2023 . Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and senior officials of the Ministry of Defense will be present on the occasion. The greenfield helicopter factory spread over 615 acres of land has been planned with a view to become a one-stop solution for all helicopter requirements of the country. It is India’s largest helicopter manufacturing facility and initially Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) Will build The LUH is an indigenously designed and developed 3-tonne class, single engine multi-role utility helicopter with unique features of high manoeuvrability. Initially, the factory will manufacture around 30 helicopters per year and can be scaled up to 60 and then 90 per year in a phased manner. The first LUH has been flight tested and is ready for unveiling. The factory will be augmented to manufacture other helicopters such as the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and the Indian Multirole Helicopter (IMRH).
2. Mr. Bhupendra Yadav launched ‘Save Wetlands Campaign’ as a “whole society” approach to conservation of wetlands
Shri Bhupendra Yadav , Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change , launched the ‘ Save Wetlands Campaign ‘ in the presence of the Chief Minister of Goa .‘ launched. The campaign involves all levels of society, enabling positive actions for wetland conservation at all levels of society, with a “whole of society” approach to conserving wetlands. Over the next one year, the campaign will include sensitizing people about the importance of wetlands, expanding the scope of Ardabhoomi Mitra and building citizen participation for wetland conservation. Two books – ‘India’s 75 Amrit Dharohar – India’s Ramsar Sites Factbook’ and ‘Managing Climate Risks in Wetlands – A Practitioner’s Guide’ were also released on the occasion. The Factbook is a one-stop resource for information on our 75 Ramsar sites, including their importance, The hazards faced by them and the arrangements for their management are included. The experts’ guide on climate risk assessment provides step-by-step guidance on assessing site-scale climate risks and integrating adaptation and mitigation responses into wetland management planning.
3. Digital India Mobile Van launched
Digital India Mobile Van was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology . The main objective of this mobile van is to spread awareness about Digital India initiative and to spread information about G20 Digital Economy Working Group . Lucknow was the first stop of the mobile van where the first meeting of the G20 DEWG was held. The van will provide information on Digital India initiatives like Aarogya Setu, India Stack Global, e-Rupee, PMJDY, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, e-Way Bill, Umang, e-Aushadhi, Co-Win etc. It will feature all the digital infrastructure and digital goods India has brought so far. During its journey, the mobile van initiative will also teach people about using technologies and digital products.
4. India will be the theme country for the 2025 Madrid International Book Fair
The Madrid Book Fair is being held in Spain since 1993 . Over 350 stalls have been set up by publishers from across the globe. Book signing events are also held during the fair. India will be the theme country for the 2025 Madrid International Book Fair . Spain was the theme country for the International Book Fair to be held in Kolkata in January 2023 . The Madrid Book Fair is an annual event. E-books are not sold in this fair. Amazon and other e-commerce giants do not have scope in this fair. However, Amazon is planning to set up a stall at the fair.
5. Australia removes British monarchy from bank notes
The former British colonies are deciding on their constitutional relationship with Britain . For example, India changed the name of Rajpath to Karti Path . Similarly, Australia is going to remove the face of the British monarch from its currency bills . Changes to the Australian five dollar bill are being done. The five dollar bill is the last note to bear the face of the British monarch. The Central Bank of Australia recently announced that it is removing the British monarch’s face from its five dollar bill. His face was on Australian five-dollar notes, until Queen Elizabeth’s passing. After his death in 2022, the Australian government was supposed to reprint notes with King Charles III on them. Instead, it has decided to completely remove the British monarch’s face from the bills. Australia is an independent country. But to this day, the head of state of Australia is the British monarch. 6. RBI, SEBI and NSE action after Adani controversy
After the Hindenburg Report , Gautam Adani , who was the second richest person in the world, moved to the 21st position according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index . In the last ten days, they have lost 108 billion dollars. Hindenburg has accused Adani of stock manipulation. With the global probe, the stock prices of the company are set to fall further. Adani recently withdrew its FPO. FPO stands for Follow-On Public Offering. It is the stock that a company offers to its investors after an IPO (Initial Public Offering). FPOs are additional stock and are called secondary offerings. RBI has sought details from banks associated with the Adani group. It contains collateral details by which Gautam Adani and his cousins used to obtain loans. NSE Adani Group has been placed under “Additional Surveillance Mechanism”. This means that the stock has seen unusual activity and it is not safe to buy the shares. It was introduced in 2018. The shares placed under the ASM category are determined by SEBI. The main objective of the ASM mechanism is to protect investors. SEBI is now examining the issue and preparing a report. It is also probing fraudulent deals done by the Adani group mentioned in the Hindenburg Report.
7. Allocation doubled under FAME-2 scheme
FAME stands for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles . It was launched in 2015 to increase the sales of electric vehicles in the country. This scheme was launched under the National Electric Mobility Mission . During the Union Budget 2023, the Government of India allocated Rs 5,172 crore for the financial year 2024. This is 78% more than the 2022 budget. In 2019, Rs 10000 crore was allocated to take this scheme forward in a phased manner. In the financial year 2020, the allocation was increased to Rs 500 crore. In 2021, Rs 318 crore has been allocated. In 2022, it was further increased to 500 crores. In 2023, the Government of India allocated Rs 2,897 crore.
8. US military will have access to bases in the Philippines to counter China
The US government has built over 750 military bases all over the world . And there are more than 120 military bases in Asia alone . However, there is little military presence between Australia and South Korea . To counter Chinese moves in the South China Sea and increase its presence in the region, the US has now signed a deal with the Philippines to gain access to four bases in the Philippines . According to the deal between the US and the Philippines government, the US will now have access to four military bases in the Philippines.
9. Jharkhand Government Passes Domicile Bill
The Jharkhand government passed the Domicile Bill and the bill has been sent to the Governor for his assent. The governor refused to sign the bill . According to the governor, the bill fails to provide equal employment opportunities to all people in the state of Jharkhand. The Bill states that only local people can be appointed to Class III and IV posts in the state government. The Bill defines “local people” in the state of Jharkhand. This definition has been prepared on the basis of land records of 1932. Also, the bill states that only local people can be appointed to class III and IV posts in the state government.
10. VFS in Lucknow Global Visa Application Center launched
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated VFS , which provides visa facilities for ten countries , in Lucknow . Inaugurated the Global Visa Application Centre . This center will start functioning from February 9. The Chief Minister informed that visa applications from several countries including Australia, Czech Republic, Portugal, Switzerland, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Hungary and Germany would be accepted at this centre. This center has the capacity to receive more than one lakh twenty thousand applications every year.
11. India, France and UAE agree for trilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, defense and economy
India, France and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to establish a formal three- tier cooperation mechanism to enhance cooperation in various areas of mutual interest . External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar , French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan In this regard, the implementation of this system was discussed over the phone. During this, the three sides agreed on a three-tier platform for cooperation in the field of energy, the challenge of climate change and conservation of biodiversity in the Indian Ocean region. A joint statement said the three countries will explore the possibility of preparing a project on clean energy, environment and biodiversity together with the Indian Ocean Rim Association. The system also involves increasing cooperation between development agencies related to projects of sustainable development of the three countries. The three countries will ensure harmony between economic, technological and social policies in line with the Paris Agreement. In line with this pattern, a series of trilateral events will take place this year during the G-20 under the presidency of India and the COP-28 hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

With this, the biggest sports event of the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg has started in Baramulla district of Kashmir division from 10th of this month. The third phase of Khelo India Winter Games will be held from 10th to 14th of this month. Khelo India is being organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Jammu Kashmir Sports Council and Jammu Winter Sports Association. 1,500 athletes from across the country will participate in these games. Snow Shoe Race, Ice Skating, Ice Hockey, Skiing, Nordic Ski, Snow Boarding, Ski mountaineering and ice stock will be the main attractions. There will be nine events in the Winter Games. The Khelo India Winter Games were held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in 2020. Host Jammu and Kashmir had secured first place in both the events of this game. This game will prove to be of far-reaching benefit in terms of attracting tourists to the ski resort of Gulmarg. Also, this will give a big boost to the adventure tourism of Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of Rs 450 crore IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid Fertilizer Plant at Jasidih in Deoghar district of Jharkhand . This is the fifth fertilizer unit of IFFCO . The plant will produce six crore Nano Urea bottles annually. Fertilizers will be supplied to the farmers of Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha from this plant.

15. First meeting of the Energy Transition Working Group of G-20 countries in Bengaluru
The first meeting of the Energy Transition Working Group of G-20 countries begins in Bengaluru. On the occasion of inauguration, Power, New and Renewable Energy Minister R.K. Lieutenant General Hun Manet , Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army , is visiting India with a delegation from 02 to 04 February 2023. This is the first visit by any commander of the Royal Cambodian Army and marks a milestone in military-to-military relations between the two countries. He called on the Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Armane and was briefed about the Indian indigenous defense equipment manufacturing eco-system by the Department of Defense Production (DDP) and the Army Design Bureau. Later he met the Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Dr. S. 19. Azad Engineering to supply nuclear turbine parts to GE Steam

Renowned Kannada writer K.V. Tirumalesh passed away in Hyderabad . He was 82 years old. He was regarded as one of the most versatile writers across genres and as a man of eclectic interests. He is primarily recognized as a poet. KV Tirumalesh (born 1940), was an Indian poet, writer and critic of Kannada and English languages and a retired professor. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry collection Akshaya Kavya in Kannada (2010) .
