Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman attended the third phase of the Chaha Udyan Dhan Puraskar fair in Guwahati . In this program, financial assistance of three thousand rupees was given to about seven lakh fifty thousand people associated with the Assam Government tea garden areas. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Food and Processing Industries Rameshwar Teli and State Finance Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma were also present at the event.

2. 4G Internet service restored after 18 months in Jammu and Kashmir

The resumption of 4G Internet service in Jammu and Kashmir after 18 months has brought relief to the students, professionals and business class. The central government had suspended 4G service from August 5, 2019, with the special status of Jammu and Kashmir ending it and dividing it into two union territories. 2G service was restored in the state in January 2020. The fast internet service was launched on a pilot basis on 16 August last year at Ganderbal in Kashmir and Udhampur divisions of Jammu. In view of misuse of internet by terrorists, the ban on 4G service was continued in the rest of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of various development projects at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district in Assam . The Prime Minister will launch the Asom Mala with the aim of helping improve the network of state highways and major district roads . Asom Mala will provide seamless multi-model transport with quality inter-connectivity routes connecting national highways and rural roads. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of two medical colleges and hospitals being set up in Biswanath and Charaidev.

4. India’s first thunderstorm research testbed to be built in Odisha

The Thunderstorm Research Testbed will be set up in Balasore , Odisha to study lightning and thunderstorms . Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that the purpose of this testbed is to prevent loss of life and property from lightning strikes. It will be set up in a collaboration between the Thunderstorm Research Testbed, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and India Meteorological Department (IMD). Along with this, IMD is also planning to build the first monsoon testing center of its kind near Bhopal. Both these projects are at the planning stage and detailed project reports are being prepared for them.

5. Eighth Meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers

Union Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said Cambodian Tourism Minister Dr Thong Khon with the ASEAN-India eighth meeting of tourism ministers co-chaired by way of video conference. The meeting coincided with the 24th meeting of the Tourism Ministers of ASEAN, an organization of Southeast Asian nations. At the meeting, ministers from all countries expressed grief over the loss of lives and livelihoods in the region during the global pandemic Kovid. The Ministers stressed the need to cooperate together to deal with the bad effects of the epidemic on the tourism sector.
