While addressing the inaugural function of the two-day Agriculture-Startup and Entrepreneurship Conclave organized on the occasion of World Food Day in Nasscom Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Radha Mohan Singh said that this year aims to celebrate World Food Day To achieve the goal of creating a ‘zero hunger’ world by 2030, Vishwavi To demonstrate commitment. The Modi government is also working continuously in a phased manner to achieve the goal of ‘zero starvation’. He said that the techniques developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and our farmers’ brothers have contributed a lot to increase agricultural production and ensure food security in India. According to the fourth advance estimation in the year 2017-18, foodgrain production is 284.83 million tonnes, which was achieved in the year 2013-14 (265. 04 million tons) more than 20 million tons. The production of horticultural crops in the year 2013-14 was 277.35 million tonnes which increased to 307 million tonnes according to the fourth advance estimation in 2017-18 and it is about 30 million tonnes more than the production achieved in the year 2013-14. India is the first in the world in horticulture production.

Production of pulses crops in the year 2015-16 was 16.25 million tonnes, which increased to 25.23 million tonnes according to the fourth advance estimation in the year 2017-18, which is about 9 million tonnes more than the production achieved in the year 2013-14.

He said that advanced varieties, techniques and seeds have an important contribution in enhancing agricultural production. In the period from 2010 to 2014, 448 varieties were released for cultivation, whereas during the four year period from 2014 to 2018, 795 advanced varieties were released for cultivation, which is almost double in number . In the case of breeding seed, in the year 2013-14, demand and production were 8479 tonnes and 8927 tonnes, respectively, in 2016-17, the figure reached 10405 tonnes and 12265 tonnes, respectively.

According to Mr. Singh, more emphasis was given on the first production, but there was a shortage of large and micro nutrients in food, which impacted more than 60 percent of our population directly and this led to hunger hunger It used to come. In the last four and a half years, for the first time in reducing malnutrition, ICAR has developed 20 varieties of crops for the first time, in which the amount of nutrients is much higher than normal. In order to diversify agriculture, the ‘National Bajra Mission’ started with emphasis on integrated farming.
