Vice President  Jagdeep Dhankhar  presented   Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards  to  84 artistes  in  New Delhi . The Special Achievement Award was given to artists above 75 years of age from across India who have not yet received any national honour. Under these awards, a cash amount of Rs 1 lakh is given along with copper plate and Angavastra. Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Puraskar is a national honor given to outstanding artists as well as teachers and scholars in the field of Sangeet Natak performing arts.

2 INS inspectors reach Trincomalee for joint diving training

Indian Navy ‘s Diving Support and Submarine Rescue Ship, INS Inspector  arrived at Trincomalee Port, Sri Lanka on 14 Sep 23  to undertake Indian Navy –  Sri Lankan Navy  (IN-SLN)  joint diving training . Over a week, diving teams from both the navies will participate in diving exercises to enhance interoperability, cohesion and exchange of best practices.

3 Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann laid the foundation stone of Saragarhi Memorial in Firozpur.

Punjab  Chief Minister  Bhagwant Singh Mann  laid   the foundation stone of Saragarhi War Memorial  in  Ferozepur  on  12 September .  The memorial is dedicated to  the  21 brave Sikh warriors who  attained martyrdom in the historic Battle of Saragarhi on  September 12, 1897  . The Battle of Saragarhi, which took place on September 12, 1897,   near  the Samana Ridge (now in Pakistan) , is a remarkable chapter in military history. 21 soldiers of the 36 Sikh Regiment  bravely defended their post against approximately 10,000 Afghan attackers, ultimately choosing death rather than surrender. The 36th Sikh Regiment is now known as the 4th Sikh Regiment.

4 Udhampur Railway Station in Jammu and Kashmir was named as Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station.

Udhampur railway station  in  the Union Territory  of Jammu and Kashmir has been  formally renamed as   Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station . In this regard,   a program was organized in Udhampur in the presence of Union Minister Jitendra Singh . Captain Tushar Mahajan’s parents, dignitaries of the district, army officers and Bharatiya Janata Party workers were present in this program.  It is pertinent to mention here that martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan received the Shaurya Chakra (posthumously) for sacrificing his life in the anti-terrorist operation. 

5 REC ties up with Cerentica for debt funding of Rs 3081 crore for 560 MW greenfield solar-wind project in Gadag, Karnataka

REC Ltd  has  inked a deal worth Rs 3,081 crore  to  renewable energy company Serantika Renewables  for a  560 MW peak greenfield solar-wind hybrid project  in  Gadag district  of  Karnataka . Loan fund of more than Rs. For this, the loan documents have been signed and the funds are being disbursed. 6 United Nations International Trade Law Commission-South Asia Conference concludes in New Delhi

Damu Ravi,  Secretary   , Economic Relations,  Ministry of External Affairs  addressed the concluding session of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission-South Asia Conference  in  New Delhi . Shri Ravi expressed his views on issues like commercial arbitration, investor nation dispute settlement, digital economy, MSMEs and access to credit etc. He also stressed on making India a center of international settlements.

7 Fourth meeting of  G20 countries on Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion concludes in Mumbai

The fourth meeting  of the G20 countries on the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion  was concluded in Mumbai . In this three-day meeting, the participants mainly discussed issues like strengthening small and medium enterprises, empowering consumers with digital payment system and consumer protection.

8 Nobel Foundation announced to increase the prize money for Nobel Prize winners from this year.

The prize money  for  Nobel Prize winners  has been increased from this year  . According to the Nobel Foundation, this year’s prize winners will   be given  one crore ten lakh Swedish crowns, which  is equivalent to approximately Rs eight crore ten lakh . The amount awarded to Nobel Prize winners has been changed more than once in recent years, in line with the financial condition of the Foundation. This year’s Nobel Prize winners will be announced next month and the winners   will be awarded at a grand ceremony on December 10 .  The Nobel Prize ceremony is held on  10 December,  the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel . 9 Karnataka government launches insurance cover of Rs 4 lakh for gig workers

The Government of Karnataka has announced an important initiative aimed at protecting the interests and welfare of   platform-based  gig workers  , which  includes  a rich insurance package worth Rs 4 lakh  , which includes  life insurance of Rs 2 lakh and an additional Rs 2 lakh. The expected benefit of this important step is expected to be around 2.3 lakh gig workers who are actively engaged with various platforms like Swiggy, Zomato and leading e-commerce giants like Amazon, Flipkart, and BigBasket.

10 Najma Akhtar honored with Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of education

Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)  , Professor  Najma Akhtar , was recently honored with the ‘ Lifetime Achievement Award-Academia ‘.  An actor is facing investigation for his alleged involvement in a Rs 1,000 crore Ponzi scheme involving 2 lakh investors  . A Ponzi scheme is a type of  investment fraud  that   promises investors high returns with little or no risk. These are investment operations that provide returns to old investors on funds received from new investors. It   is named after  the Italian businessman Charles Ponzi , who  ran such a scheme in the year 1920s . Ponzi Schemes  Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Do not come under the regulatory scope of. In India, Ponzi schemes are banned under the Prohibition of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019 and the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978.

13 Banks should return documents within 30 days of loan repayment: RBI

 The Reserve Bank  of India (RBI)  has issued new instructions to regulated entities (banks and non-banking financial companies) regarding return of original asset documents after full repayment or settlement of loans.  These norms will be applicable to all cases in which  return of original documents is required on or after December 1, 2023. Will have to do. In cases where the borrower is no longer alive, lenders must put in place a clear process for returning the original property documents to the legal heirs. This process will be applicable to personal loans including consumer loans, education loans, home loans and financial asset loans. If the original property documents are lost or damaged, the lender will assist the borrower in obtaining duplicate or certified copies, cover the cost and give a compensation of Rs 5,000 per day for delay beyond 30 days. It aims to standardize the document issuance process and promote responsible lending conduct.

15 Fitch maintains growth projections of 6.3 percent

American rating agency  Fitch Ratings  has  maintained  India’s growth  estimates for FY24 at 6.3 percent  . Fitch said that despite tight monetary policy and weakness in exports, the Indian economy is showing resilience. Fitch said inflation could rise at the end of the year due to the threat of El Nino. Recently, the GDP figures for the first quarter were released in which India’s GDP stood at 7.8 percent in the April-June quarter. Apart from this, Fitch said that  the growth rate in the next financial year i.e. FY25  has been estimated at 6.5 percent.

17 Haryana government appointed actress Meeta Vashishtha as chairperson of Entertainment Policy Council.

21 Neeraj Chopra gets silver in Diamond League

Indian javelin thrower  Neeraj Chopra  won   the silver medal  with a throw of  83.80 meters  in  the 2023 Diamond League Final  in Eugene city  of America . Neeraj was the champion in the last Diamond League. Whereas  Jakub Vadlejch  of   Czech  Republic  won the trophy by throwing the javelin 84.24 meters . Apart from this, Oliver Handler (83.74 metres) stood third.

22 World Ozone Day

World Ozone Day is observed  every year  on 16 September   to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol , an international environmental treaty to phase out the production and consumption of ozone depleting substances. This treaty   came into force in 1987 on 16 September.
