1.Vice-President will visit America to participate in the Second World Hindu Conference :-

Vice – President M . Venkaiah Naidu will go to America on 8-9 September, 2018 to participate in the Second World Hindu Convention The conference was organized in Chicago in 1893 on 125th anniversary of the historic speech given by Swami Vivekananda in the World Parliament of Religions.

The vice-president will also be included in a program organized by 14 American Telugu American Association in a temple in Greater Chicago.

 

2.Dr. Pranav Pandya provided Demand Draft of 1.25 Crore for the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund   :-

Dr. Pranav Pandya, Chief of All-India Gayatri Family, today called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and provided Demand Draft of 1.25 Crore for Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund .

 

3.Move: Prime Minister will inaugurate India’s first Global Mobility Summit 2018 :-

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s first Global Mobility Summit ‘Move’ in Vigyan Bhawan on September 7 The two-day summit has been organized by the Policy Commission in the Vigyan Bhavan in the capital. At the summit, special emphasis will be on bringing various stakeholders in one place to create awareness about various aspects of mobility and increase mobility on different forums. During the summit, representatives of various intergovernmental organizations, academics, policy thinkers of India and abroad, global leader in mobility sector like OEM, battery maker, charging structure provider, technology solution provider will exchange their views about mobilization mobility.

 

4.’Sour India’ in the 87th International Trade Fair in Turkey :-

India, Turkey, is the partner country of the 87th International Israeli International Trade Fair, which starts from Friday 07 September, 2018. In this trade fair, India will launch a large business pavilion ‘ Source India ‘ , through which 75 Indian companies will increase the ties with Turkey and other neighboring countries to boost India’s exports.

This is a series of Sources India Pavilion, which is being organized by the India Trade Promotion Council (TPCI) in the important trade fair of the world to increase India’s exports. TPCI is a Trade and Investment Promotion Organization of the Commerce Department in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It works to explore new ways of cooperation in trade and investment between India and the rest of the world.

 

5.Two-plus-to-Talk: India supports US policy on Afghanistan, also agreed on NSG :-

In a two-plus-two meeting between India and USA, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that India supports the Afghan policy of the United States. After this Mrs. Swaraj addressed the media in the Joint Press Statement of India and USA. He said that the discussion on India’s membership of the NSG was discussed at the earliest, on which everyone has agreed. Whereas American Foreign Minister Mike Pompey said that we will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and decide how we can develop relations in the new era of development under the leadership of him and President Trump. We have discussed very well about our bilateral relations and our future. Thanking Mr. Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, Mr. Pompey said that he and his minister helped him in the first visit of Defense Minister Matisse. This is a new era of relations between India and the United States. We improve relationships Are pushing on. Mr. Pompeo said that India and the United States have signed a very important communication agreement.

 

6.Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh resigned as the Regional Director of India, again elected for the second term :-

India has again retained the WHO’s highest position in the Southeast Asia region as well as being unanimously elected as Regional Director of Dr. Poonam Khatpal Singh for the second term of 5 years starting from February 2019. This election happened in the ongoing meeting of the regional committee of WHO South East Asia. Thanking all the member countries for supporting India’s candidate, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda said that we express gratitude on getting unanimous support of all the member countries of the region. Congratulating Dr. Poonam Khatpal Singh on the re-election, the Union Health Minister said that in the South East Asia Regional Office, This region has emerged with the highest performance at the global level in program and financial implementation under the leadership of Singh. He said that his commitment to public sector health agenda in member countries is clear in the achievements of important programs being run in the field.

 

7.India’s ‘COMCASA’ agreement with America :-

India and the United States have signed the New Defense Treaty (COMCASA), which will establish both countries as the strongest defense partner. After this agreement, the importance of India for America has become like a NATO country.

Before India, Japan and Australia have had similar agreement with the United States. It has been agreed that till a decade ago, there was very little defense cooperation between Indo-US. But now 10 billion dollars of equipment are being bought annually. Their size can grow faster in the coming days.

What is COMCASA- Communication ie Communication and Information on the Security Memorandum of Agreement America has done with some other countries including NATO. It extends the way for America to provide highly sophisticated defense technology to its allies and provide immediate help to them in emergency situations.

So important is the agreement –

-America will also provide its confidential security technologies to India.

India has become the only country, apart from the member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of 29 countries, which the United States will give these facilities.

– The US will get the state-of-the-art communications system for the US.

-The agreement will allow US-based advanced warfare aircraft like C-17, C-130 Hercules to be manufactured in India.

India can also be helped by aircraft which is developing locally –

-America, which adopts sensitive data from around the world, can also be given to India.

Such information can also be obtained about China and Pakistan’s military preparations.

-America has already talked about giving drone technology to India. This agreement will make its way easier.

 

8.Sensex down by more than 100 points, weakening of the stock market :-

In the Friday session the Indian stock market is open with weakness. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the index Sensex dropped 112 points to 38130 and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty is trading 31 points at 11505 level.

The biggest decline is in the shares of Powergrid and Sunpharma. PowerGrid’s counter is trading at a level of 194.15 with a weakness of 2.54 percent and Sun Pharma is trading 3.53 percent down at 652.75 level. On the National Stock Exchange, the mid-cap index is 0.22 percent and the smallcap 0.31 percent fall.

 

9.India agrees to end PISA boycott; will participate in PISA 2021 :-

The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar in the first week of September 2018 decided to end the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) boycott.
Resultantly, the ministry will send a team of officers to Paris this year to negotiate India’s terms of participation in PISA 2021 with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation Development (OECD).

PISA 2021 test likely to be administered in Chandigarh schools –

• Unlike 2009, when schools in Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh had participated, the Union government will request OECD to administer the test across all schools in Chandigarh in 2021.

• There are roughly 100 government; government-aided; and private senior secondary schools in the Union Territory.

• Apart from the schools in Chandigarh, the HRD Ministry also suggested that all Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs), funded and run by the Centre, shall take the test.

• The HRD Ministry has already obtained the consent of the Office of the Chandigarh Administrator for the same.
