1 Virat Kohli equals Sachin’s record in terms of most ODI centuries

Recently,   in  the World Cup 2023  played in  Mumbai , Virat Kohli  scored   his 49th century  against  South Africa on  his 35th birthday  . In this way, he also became only the third Indian batsman to score a century on his birthday. Sachin  had done this feat in 452 innings whereas  Virat  took only 278th innings to complete 49 centuries.

Entertainment television channel  Colors  has tied up with the Ministry of Women and Child Development  to promote   the government’s  Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign .  An attempt has been made to bring social awareness about the neglect of girls through Colors’ new show  Dori . Women and Child Development Minister  Smriti Irani  said on the occasion that the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative has helped a lot in bringing about a change in the way of thinking about the girl child.  He said that the channel will also give information about our child helpline number 1098 among the viewers  and help in popularizing this campaign. ‘Colors’ is Viacom 18  ‘s flagship brand in the entertainment sector in India  .

3 Kerala High Court bans bursting of firecrackers in all religious places

Kerala High Court  has   banned bursting of firecrackers in all religious places . In an interim order, Justice  Amit Rawal  directed district officials to conduct raids and seize firecrackers illegally stored at all religious places. The court said that there is no order in any holy scripture to burst crackers to please God. The court warned that if any violation of the order was reported, it would be forced to initiate contempt proceedings. The Kerala High Court was considering a case in which the petitioners had sought intervention to stop bursting of firecrackers at all religious places located in the state.

4 Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha participated in the Shikara Utsav organized in New Delhi.

5 RBI appoints Manoranjan Mishra as new executive director

 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  appointed Manoranjan Mishra  as its  Executive Director (ED) with effect  from   November 1, 2023 . As ED, Manoranjan Mishra   will oversee three departments namely enforcement, risk monitoring and outward investment and operations . Before his appointment as ED, he was serving as Chief General Manager in the Regulation Department of RBI. He has over 3 decades of wide experience in RBI, having worked in the areas of regulation of banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), supervision of banks and currency management.

The Minuteman III , an  intercontinental ballistic missile  , reflects 60 years of continuous progress in the US nuclear deterrent. The United States military recently conducted a Minuteman III missile launch, demonstrating its nuclear capability. The Minuteman III is a critical component of the nation’s strategic defense forces,   managed by Air Force Global Strike Command .

8 Chinese Communist Party delegation boosts relations with Solomon Islands

 The recent visit of a  Chinese Communist Party delegation to the Solomon Islands  has highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries and its importance to their people.  The delegation, led by Guo Yezhou , deputy head of the International Department under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,  held high-level meetings with the leadership of Solomon Islands during their visit. China and the Solomon Islands earlier signed a police agreement in July that elevated their relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership.” This important step was taken during Prime Minister Sogaware’s meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing. This reflects the depth of relations in various areas of cooperation.

9 HSBC becomes first foreign bank to launch e-BG in India

The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, India (HSBC India)  in  collaboration with National e-Governance Services Limited (NeSL)   has launched electronic-Bank Guarantee (e-BG) services to digitize trade finance.  With this, HSBC India becomes the first foreign bank in India to offer e-BG  . e-BG is the digital equivalent of traditional paper-based bank guarantees. It is a guarantee issued by a bank to the beneficiary on behalf of the applicant, promising to pay a specific amount to the beneficiary if the applicant fails to meet a certain obligation.

10 SEBI unveils new format for SID of AMCs

With an intention to streamline the dissemination of relevant information to investors, the  Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)  has   unveiled a new format for asset management company (AMC) scheme information documents (SIDs). The new norms   are suggested by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and recommended by the Mutual Fund Advisory Committee (MFAC). The new format   will come into effect from April 1, 2024 . The Scheme Information Document or SID contains detailed information about the investment objective of the scheme, asset allocation pattern, investment approach, risks involved, fund manager, charges, expenses etc.

11. Indian women’s hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy title by defeating Japan in Ranchi.

Indian women’s hockey team  has   won  the Asian Champions Trophy title. In the final match held in Roche  , host India   defeated former  champions  Japan 4-0 . For India,  Sangeeta Kumari, Neha, Larem Siyami and Vandana Kataria  scored one goal each. Earlier in the match for third place,  China  defeated  South Korea  2-1. Earlier, the Indian team   had won the Asian Champions Trophy in Singapore in the year 2016 .

12 Prime Minister Modi extended the free ration scheme for 5 years

 In the election state  Chhattisgarh , Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  announced that  the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), which  was  started during  the Corona epidemic,  will be extended for the next five years  . The poor will continue to get free ration for the next 5 years. This scheme was being completed in December and since 2020, this scheme is being continuously expanded. Now it has been announced to extend it for another 5 years. This scheme   was started on 30 June 2020 . There was a lockdown at the time of Corona and there were many restrictions. The poor were facing the crisis of food and drink. In such a situation, this scheme was started by the Modi government at the Center.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF)  has won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President’s Recognition Bronze Award  for grassroots football  . AIFF President  Kalyan Choubey  received   the award at the AFC Annual Awards 2022 in Doha, Qatar . Football Australia  wins ‘ Gold ‘   AFC President’s Recognition Award  for Grassroots Football . AFC President’s Recognition Award for Grassroots Football ‘ Silver ‘  Guam Football Association   won byAIFF has launched several grassroots football development schemes including the AIFF Blue Cubs Programme, Blue Cubs Coaching Course, Blue Cubs League, Blue Cubs Football School and AIFF Grassroots Awards.

14 Musician and writer Padmashree Leela Omcheri passes away

Renowned musician, composer and writer  Padmashree Leela Omcheri  passed away in New Delhi  at the age of 94  . He was born on 31 May 1929  in  Tiruvattar in  the princely state of  Travancore, Kanyakumari  (now  in Tamil Nadu ). He served as Professor at the Camuakara School of Music, Dance and Research Studies, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala). She   was also a professor and principal of Trikal Gurukulam in New Delhi. She  was the President of Dakshina Bharati (South Indian Women’s Organisation)  and   Vice President of Swaralaya, New Delhi . He also served as Associate Professor and Head of the Carnatic Music Section of the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi from 1964 to 1994. She was a bilingual writer in English and Malayalam, and her notable works include Studies in Indian Music and Allied Arts (5 volumes) (1990), The Immortals of Indian Music (1998), and Abhinaya Sangeetham (1996).  He was awarded the Padma Shri (2009)  and  the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award (1991) in the field of arts  .
