1.World’s Largest Mega Kaleshwaram Project (KLIP) Was Inaugurated:-

Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), claimed as the world’s largest multi-stage and multi-purpose lift irrigation scheme, was inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Medigadda where the first barrage of the project is located in Jayashankar-Bhupalapally district.The project is intended to irrigate over 37 lakh acres of new and existing ayacut, providing drinking water to Hyderabad and villages en route and supplying water for industrial needs by lifting 195 tmc ft of water from the Godavari at 2 tmc ft a day during the flood season.

2.Report By President, 35000 Km Of Highways To Be Built By 2022 Under Bharatmala:-

According to the President of India, construction or upgradation of about 35,000 kilometres of national highways are to be undertaken by 2022 under the ‘Bharatmala Project‘.Also under the ‘Sagarmala Project‘, a network of good quality roads are to be constructed in coastal areas and areas adjoining ports.

 

3.NCERT Organises Fourth National Yoga Olympiad Of School Children:-

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) organized 4th edition of National Yoga Olympiad of school children in New Delhi.The Olympiad was inaugurated by the Director and UNESCO Representative for India, Mr. Eric Falt. This year 567 students from 33 States/UTs participated in the Olympiad.The purpose of olympiad was to create positive attitude among all human beings and promote peaceful living together in the society.

 

4.Shri Hardeep Puri inaugurated the Central ATFM Campus:- 

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation (Independent Charge) Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated Air Transport Traffic Management- Central Command Center (i.e. Air Traffic Flow Management- Central Command Center) at Vasant Kunj, New Delhi today. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), members of the Board and senior officials of AAI were also present.

The C-ATF system was primarily designed to balance the capacity for the best use of major resources such as airports, airspace and aircraft, according to demand at each Indian airport lacking capacity.The C-ATFM system integrates various sub-systems, flight data, such as ATC automation systems, flight updates and flight update messages. This system also provides weather information with static information of airports, airspace and air routes. This system processes information on demand and capacity and provides the means for decision-makers to make ATFM movement manager to ensure collaboration decisions and to ensure controlled movement of traffic to every airport in India.The C-ATF system is supported by 36 traffic management positions (FMP) at various airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Eight defense airports are also part of ATFM networks, which are available FMPs.After successful implementation of air traffic movement management system, India has now become the seventh country to do so after the US, Europe, Australia, South Africa, Japan and Brazil.Dr. Gurprasad Mohapatra, President of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said, “With the inception of the Central Command Center of the Central Air Traffic Movement Management Complex, we have started a good start today. With this facility, we will be able to compare ourselves with the best features offered by countries of the world in the next five years. ”

 

5.Govt develops National Strategic Plan to eradicate TB by 2025:-

The government has developed a National Strategic Plan with the goal for ending Tuberculosis (TB) by 2025.In his reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey said, India accounts for 27.4 lakh estimated new TB cases annually, which is the highest in terms of absolute numbers.

He said, the estimated cases of TB in the country is 204 per lakh population for the year 2017 as per the last year’s Global TB report. However, India ranks 35th in the world in terms of TB cases per lakh population. Over 5 lakh 62 thousand patients were cured of TB last year.

6.CHP candidate Imamoglu declared victory in rerun of Istanbul’s mayoral election:-

In a major blow to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) candidate Ekrem Imamoglu has declared victory in the rerun of Istanbul’s mayoral election.Initial results show Mr Imamoglu is set for a clear win with 54 per cent of votes with nearly all ballots counted. The ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) candidate and former Prime Minister Binali Yildirim conceded defeat with 45 per cent of votes. In his victory speech, Mr Imamoglu said the result marked a new beginning for both the city and the country. CHP’s projected win in the Istanbul election ends the 17-year rule by the AK Party in the metropolis. The result is being seen as a major setback for Mr Erdogan, who had previously said that whoever wins Istanbul, wins Turkey.The Istanbul mayoral election was first held on March 31, when Mr Imamoglu secured 48.8 per cent of the votes, while the AK Party’s Yildirim held 48.55 per cent. The AK Party proceeded to file an extraordinary objection to the results, leading the Supreme Electoral Council to annul the results and schedule Sunday’s rerun.

7.First Bangladesh International Theatre Festival Being Held In Dhaka:-

The first international theatre festival of Bangladesh is being held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.

It was inaugurated by the Bangladesh State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid.The festival is being organised at the initiative of the Culture Affairs Ministry of Bangladesh.Theatre troupes from India, Bangladesh, Russia, China, France, Vietnam and Nepal are participating in the festival.

 

8.Saudi Arabia becomes the first Arab country to be granted full membership of FATF:-

Saudi Arabia has become the first Arab country to be granted full membership of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).It has gained this status following the group’s Annual General Meeting in Orlando, Florida.The Kingdom had obtained observer status in the Group in June 2015 and completed the mutual evaluation process in June 2018.The FATF now has 39 full members, including the permanent members of the UN Security Council and most countries of the G-20.The group is responsible for issuing international standards, policies and best practices to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation.

9.Pranati Nayak wins bronze at Asian Artistic Gymnastic Championship:-

In Gymnastics, India’s Pranati Nayak clinched a bronze medal in the vault event at the Senior Asian Artistic Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.The 23-year-old from West Bengal, who had qualified for vault finals with a sixth place, came up with a score of 13.384 to claim the bronze medal.China’s Yu Linmin and Japan’s Ayaka Sakaguchi won the gold and silver medal at the event.
