1.Justice Ranjan Gogoi appointed next Chief Justice of India :-

The President has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of India. After assuming the office of Chief Justice of the country Justice Deepak Misra, he will take charge as the Chief Justice of India on October 3, 2018.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi was born on November 18, 1954 and he was nominated as an advocate in 1978. He started practicing constitutional, taxation and company matters in the Guwahati High Court. He was appointed a permanent judge on February 28, 2001 in the Guwahati High Court. On September 9, 2010, he was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. On 12 February 2011, he was appointed Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. On April 23, 2012, he was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India.

 

2.PMG House opens in Postgraduate Institute, Museum will be converted into governor house :-

Pakistan’s PM House (Prime Minister’s residence) will soon be transformed into a top postgraduate institute. Not only this, all the governing houses of Pakistan will also be converted to a museum. Pakistan’s Education Minister Shafqat Mahmud informed about this.

They say that the government officials should be like this, in which the public’s money is spent at the least. People were angry with the royal lifestyle of previous government leaders. Mahmood said that the government buildings are used to be used for public works, under which the PM House and the governor’s house are being opened to the public.

According to the Education Minister, Rs 47 crores are spent annually on the care of PM House, so a top postgraduate institute will now be opened in it. Mahmud said that the Museum and Art Gallery will be opened at the Governor House in Lahore, Karachi and Balochistan. These palatial government buildings will no longer be the governor.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that, ‘National Scholarship Portal Mobile Application’ will ensure an easy, easy and obstructive free scholarship system for poor and weaker sections. He said that all the scholarships are being given directly to the bank accounts of the needy students under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through the National Scholarship Portal, which has ensured that there is no scope for repetition and revenue theft.

 

4.Figures of hunger in the world reached the highest ‘alarming’ level of the decade in 2017 – United Nations :-

The United Nations has said that the number of people who die of hunger in the world is increasing. The reason for this is the environmental change. The largest number of such people is being reported in Africa, Latin America and Asia. According to the latest edition of the UN’s annual multi-agency flagship report, in the year 2017, more than one crore seven million people died in 2017. In the report, the number of children who die in the age of five years is increased to 201 million in 15 million and one million, whereas in 2012, such children were sixteen million and five million.

 

5.Restricted 328 medicines considered to be harmful for health :-

The Central Government has banned the sale and distribution of 328 fixed dosage combinations (FDC) medicines for health with immediate effect. These medicines include many medicines used in winter cough and diabetes, which are considered harmful for health. According to the release issued by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, the sale of these drugs has been banned on the basis of recommendations of the Drug Technical Advisory Board. In the report submitted on FDC medicines, the Board had said that there is no medical justification of the material contained in these 328 FDC. These can harm human health. The Board had recommended that it is necessary to prohibit the production, sale and distribution of these FDCs in the wider public interest under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

 

6.Uttarakhand High Court lifted the ban on river rafting and water sports due to lack of policy :-

Uttarakhand High Court has lifted the ban on river rafting and water sports in Uttarakhand due to lack of policy. With this, the court has allowed water sports in River Rafting and Lake Tehri in river Ganga in Rishikesh. The court said that they should be operating according to the rules. The revised river rafting and kayaking rules have been implemented in Uttarakhand. After getting approved in the Cabinet, the governor also approved its revised rules. After this, this policy was introduced in Uttarakhand now. On June 21, High Court Nainital had instructed the state government to make proper rules and policies for river rafting, paragliding and other water related sports, since then these games were banned in the state.

 

7.Inflation rate at the lowest level of 10 months in August :-

In the month of August, the rate of retail inflation was three point six to nine percent, which was the lowest in the last ten months. The decline in inflation was recorded due to the decrease in prices of fruits, vegetables and other food items. These rates have been less than four percent of the central bank’s mid-term target.

 

8.Congress faces a major setback in North-East, former CM of Meghalaya :-

Former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Donova Deathwellenson Lap has resigned from the Congress four decades later on Thursday. Before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019 and the upcoming Mizoram assembly elections, the resignation of the Congress party led to a major setback in the North-East.

In his resignation to the Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, 84, said that he is leaving the party because he is pursuing the policy of shore senior and old people. In my opinion it seems that senior and old people are no longer considered to be useful for the party. Since the feeling of work and passion for the public are still vivid in me, I am feeling frustrated here. Lapang further said that with my current health, I am committed to serving the country, my state and the people.

 

9.US parliament ban on dogs and cats, demands ban from Asian countries :-

The lower house of the American Parliament, the House of Representatives, passed a bill on Wednesday to ban the killing of dogs and cats for humans to eat. At the same time, another bill passed along with countries such as China, South Korea, Vietnam and India has been urged to ban the killing of these animals for food. It has been said that there is no place for such things in a compassionate society.

In the House of Representatives, this non-billed bill was passed by voice vote. It prohibits the killing of dogs and cats of American people for eating humans. There has also been provision of penalty of five thousand dollars (about three lakh 50 thousand rupees) on the violation of dog and cat meat business prohibition law 2018, while the second bill requests the closure of dogs and cats meat from other countries of the world has been done.

 

10.IND W vs SL W: India win in exciting match, also held on series :-
