1 President inaugurates 2 important projects on Vaishno Devi Bhawan in Trikuta Hills of Jammu and Kashmir

President  Draupadi Murmu  inaugurated   2 important projects  on  Vaishno Devi Bhawan  in  Trikuta Hills  of  Reasi district  of  Jammu and Kashmir . The President and Lieutenant Governor  Manoj Sinha  landed at the VIP helipad near Vaishno Devi Bhawan. Anshul Garg,  Chief Executive Officer,  Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board  welcomed him.  The President inaugurated the skywalk built on the building   and  Parvati Bhawan . The skywalk will greatly facilitate the devotees to reach the building. There will be no possibility of any kind of accident due to the separate routes to and from the building. The proposal to build this skywalk was made after an accident that occurred on 31 December 2021. This skywalk is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The President also inaugurated Parvati Bhavan. There are 1 thousand 500 lockers in this building. Devotees can visit without any worries by keeping their belongings in the locker. Mrs. Murmu also went to Vaishno Devi Bhawan and offered prayers. Earlier, he addressed the 20th convocation of Kashmir University and awarded degrees and medals to the students.

The projects inaugurated and dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister included 76 rural roads and 25 bridges constructed in rural areas under PMGSY; 15 buildings of BDO offices in 9 districts; Upgradation of three roads constructed under Central Road Fund i.e. Kausani Bageshwar Road, Dhari-Dauba-Girichhina Road and Nagla-Kichha Road; Upgradation of two roads i.e. Almora Petshal – Panuwanula – Danya (NH 309B) and Tanakpur – Chalthi (NH 125) on National Highways; Three projects related to drinking water i.e. 38 pumping drinking water schemes, 419 gravity based water supply schemes and three tube well based water supply schemes; Tharkot Artificial Lake in Pithoragarh; 132 KV Pithoragarh-Lohaghat (Champawat) Power Transmission Line; Uttarakhand includes 39 bridges and the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA)  building  built in Dehradun under   the World Bank-  funded  Uttarakhand Disaster Recovery Project .

4 212 Indians repatriated from Israel today in first special flight under Operation Ajay

The first flight under Operation Ajay,  the campaign to bring back   Indian citizens  from war-torn Israel,  reached Delhi airport. Through this flight, 212 Indians were brought back home from Israel. External Affairs Minister  S. Jaishankar  had announced the launch of Operation Ajay for Indians wishing to return from Israel. This decision was taken in view of the ongoing fighting after Hamas’ attack on Israel.

10 Government launches SHRESHTHA scheme for SC students

 In a significant step  to enhance the quality of education for school students in India , the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched the  ‘ Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas ‘ ( SHRESHTA ). This program  is designed to provide high quality education to Scheduled Caste (SC)  students and expand the reach of development initiatives in SC-dominant areas in the education sector. The Shrestha program will be operated in two different ways to meet the educational needs of Scheduled Caste students.

  1. Schooling under private residential schools affiliated to CBSE/State Board
  2. Admission in NGO run schools

11 Reserve Bank of India imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore 39 lakh on Paytm Payments Bank Limited for violation of KYC and other rules.

The Reserve Bank of India  has imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore 39 lakh  on  Paytm Payments Bank Limited  for violation of   Know Your Customer –  KYC and other rules . RBI said the bank also violated certain provisions of the guidelines on licensing of payments banks, guidelines on reporting unusual cyber security incidents and guidelines on secure mobile banking applications, including the UPI mechanism. RBI has said that special KYC investigation has revealed that Paytm Payments Bank Limited did not monitor payment transactions. The bank violated regulatory limits on balance in the advance accounts of some customers after day’s transactions and delayed reporting the cyber security incident.

12 Haryana government approves increase in term insurance coverage for accredited media persons to Rs 10 lakh

Haryana Government  has approved increasing the term insurance coverage  for  accredited media persons  in the state  from  the existing  Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh . The state government will now bear the entire insurance premium. This decision will benefit 1 thousand 38 recognized media professionals of the state. Apart from increasing the insurance coverage, the state government has also increased the monthly pension given to eligible media persons from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. Apart from this, the state government has also approved the Haryana Digital Media Advertising Policy 2023.

13 Oikya Parishad raises its voice to demand special security measures for minorities in Bangladesh

The Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad, a minority organization   in  Bangladesh  , has demanded special security measures for them before and after the upcoming national elections. The Oikya Council, representing minorities in the country, on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner regarding its demands demanding that minority-dominated areas be declared as ‘risk zones’ during elections. According to the memorandum, the council has also sought regular monitoring of the situation along with deployment of police, rapid action battalions and other paramilitary forces in the ‘risk zone’.

14 Asian Development Bank to provide $338 million assistance to Bangladesh for production of vaccines for multiple diseases

Asian Development Bank  will provide assistance of 338 million dollars  to  Bangladesh  for the production of vaccines for several diseases  . 15 India to host 141st International Olympic Committee meeting after  G-20

 After successfully hosting the meeting of  G-20 members  in  the national capital  New Delhi , India  will now host the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) meeting  in  Mumbai . The 141st IOC session will be organized in Mumbai   from 15 to 17 October . The inauguration ceremony will take place on October 14. 16 Defense Research and Development Organization’s Oceanographic Research Ship ‘INS Sagardhwani’ embarks on Sagar Maitri Mission-4 to establish long-term scientific partnership with Indian Ocean Rim countries in ‘Ocean Research and Development’

24 World Arthritis Day: 12 October

World Arthritis Day is celebrated  every year  on 12 October  to raise awareness about joint diseases that cause pain and stiffness. According to the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR)  , there are different types of arthritis and an estimated 100 million people are undiagnosed. Many arthritis patients are not very enthusiastic about exercising due to severe pain in the joints. But due to inactive life and lack of exercise, joint diseases get worse. 25 Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan Jayanti

Recently the Prime Minister of India  has paid tribute to Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan  on his birth anniversary. Born on  11 October 1902  in Sitabadiyara, Bihar,  Jayaprakash Narayan, popularly known  as J.P. or known as Loknayak (People’s Leader)  ,  was an  Indian independence activist, social reformer and politician .  He was influenced by both  American  Marxist ideas  and  Gandhian ideology . In the year 1929,  he  joined  the Indian National Congress  and  actively participated in  the Civil Disobedience Movement  and  Quit India Movement . Taking inspiration from Vinoba Bhave , he  dedicated his life to the Bhoodan Yagya movement  , advocating land redistribution to the landless.  He led  the movement against the Indira Gandhi regime in response to electoral law violations ,  putting forward the program of ‘ Sampoorna Kranti ‘ or  Total Revolution in 1974. Jayaprakash Narayan The objective was to bring about social change in line with the ideals of Sarvodaya, a Gandhian philosophy focused on progress for all. Jayaprakash Narayan was  posthumously  awarded Bharat Ratna in the year 1999 . He died on October 8, 1979.
