1.Disneyland map fetches 4.56 crore at auction :-

Walt Disney’s “presentation map”, which the late animation entrepreneur drew in the 1950s to attract investors to the idea for his legendary theme park “Disneyland”, sold for $708,000 (₹4.56 crore) at an auction of Disney memorabilia on Sunday.

The price set a record for a Disney map and was among the highest ever paid for a piece of Disney ephemera at auction, organisers said. Still, it fell short of the predicted $900,000.

 2.A first for government, power PSU moves from local taxis to Ola :-

MARKING A first for any government-owned company, the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), a PSU under the Ministry of Power, has moved from local taxi operators to Ola Corporate for all official trips of employees barring the top management.

The move, aimed at reducing financial costs and enhancing operational efficiency, is expected to be replicated by other power sector PSUs, such as National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Limited.

 3.Junior World Shooting Championship: Yashaswini Singh Deswal wins gold :-

Youth Olympics finalist Yashaswini Singh Deswal asserted her class by winning the air pistol gold equalling the World record at the junior World shooting championship here on Monday.

The 20-year-old Yashaswini qualified on top with a score of 585, and equalled the World record of 235.9 in the 24-shot final to beat Kim Woori of Korea by 4.1 points.

Yashaswini had finished sixth in the Youth Olympics in Nanjing in 2014.

4.India, U.S. determined to destroy terrorist organisations, says Trump :-

President Donald Trump on Monday said he was a true friend of India, and that the relationship between the two countries “has never been stronger, has never been better.”

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi by his side in the Rose Garden of the White House, after they both met for the first time, Mr. Trump said: “During my campaign, I pledged that if elected, India would have a true friend in the White House.  And that is now exactly what you have a true friend.”

 5.In blow to Pakistan, US designates Hizb chief as global terrorist :-

Hours before President Donald Trump’s bilateral meeting with Prime Minister  Narendra Modi on Monday, the US sent Pakistan a strong signal for sponsoring terrorism by designating Syed Salahuddin, chief of Kashmiri militant group Hizbul Mujahideen, as a global terrorist.

This puts counter-terrorism cooperation between India and the US at the front and centre of the relationship, and addresses one of India’s main concerns on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism — this in itself is a major takeaway from the Prime Minister’s visit.

 6.India may ask Myanmar to end ceasefire with NSCN :-

India may ask Myanmar to revoke its ceasefire pact with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) when Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi visits Naypyidaw next month. The NSCN-K was banned by India in 2015 for various attacks against its security forces.

During earlier bilateral meetings, India had handed over a list of over 20 insurgent camps operating in Myanmar, a few kilometres from the Indian border. The Myanmar Army has denied the existence of any insurgent camps on its territory.

 7.FM Jaitley tells J&K CM Mufti to implement GST from July 1, cites adverse impacts :-

Finance Minister Arun Jaitly has written to Jammu & Kashmir’s chief minister Mehbooba Mufti urging her to ensure rollout of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state from July 1.

Citing price rise and “adverse impact” to local industry in J&K in case of a deferment of GST rollout, Jaitley has urged Mufti to send the concurrence of the state on the GST’s Constitution (One Hundred and First Amendment) Act, 2016, for the approval of the President.

He urged the CM to take “all necessary steps” to introduce GST in the state on July 1.

 8.‘France will not recognise Crimea annexation’:-

Macron said after meeting Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Paris that his approach to future talks was unambiguous: “France is committed to Ukraine’s sovereignty with its recognised borders,” he said.

Russia annexed Crimea in 20 14 after a military intervention in eastern Ukraine.

The new French president said he expected a new round of the so-called “Normandy format” talks on the issue – involving France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine – to be held in late June or early July.

 9.E-tailers get GST relief, date for TDS deferred :-

Bringing significant relief to small businesses selling their wares on e-marketplaces, the Centre has decided to keep in abeyance the applicability of legal provisions pertaining to such businesses in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime along with requirements for e-commerce portals to deduct tax at source from sellers using their online marketplace.

“This step has been taken to provide more time for persons liable to deduct tax at source as well as e-commerce companies and their suppliers to prepare for the historic tax reform,” the finance ministry said in a statement on Monday.
