1.Indian-origin Anita Anand appointed as new Defense Minister of Canada
Anita Anand of Indian origin has been appointed as the new Defense Minister of Canada . Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has reshuffled his cabinet a month after his Liberal party returned to power. Ms. Anand will succeed Indian-origin Harjit Sajjan , long-time Defense Minister, who has been under criticism for his handling of the military rape case. 2.Ram Katha Park to be renamed as ‘Queen Hee Hwang-ok’ Memorial Park

3.Union MSME Minister Shri Narayan Rane launches national level awareness program- “Sambhav”, 2021
The Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Shri Narayan Rane launched the national level awareness program- “Sambhav”, 2021 in New Delhi . The event is being organized by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. This program is a month long initiative to reach out to a large number of people under the Ministry of MSME. In this, 130 Regional Offices of the Ministry will encourage the students of various colleges/ITIs from all parts of the country to take up entrepreneurship. During this campaign, students of the college will be informed about various schemes of the Ministry of MSME by showing audio/video films. Apart from this, awareness programs will also be organized in more than 1,300 colleges across the country. 150,000 students are expected to participate in these programmes.

He said this while participating in the 16th East Asia Summit organized by Brunei through video conference . 5.Supreme Court orders three-member expert committee to probe Pegasus espionage case
The Supreme Court has ordered a three-member expert committee to investigate the Pegasus spying case . The committee will be headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice RV Raveendran . A division bench of Chief Justice NV Ramanna, Justice Suryakant and Justice Hima Kohli said that there was no objection from the Center on the issue. This committee will work under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The court said that the right to privacy is bound by constitutional safeguards. The top court made it clear that restrictions on the right to privacy can be imposed to prevent terrorist activities in the interest of national security.
6.Dr. Rajiv Nigam 2022 Joseph A. Selected for Cushman Award
Former Chief Scientist of CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography ( NIO ), Dr. Rajeev Nigam was awarded the 2022 Joseph A. Cushman Award ( Joseph A. Cushman Award) has been selected. 8.India, UK and Australia to jointly launch IRIS initiative at COP26
India, Australia and the UK in collaboration with small island developing states (SIDS) to launch a new initiative “ Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS) ” on the sidelines of the Conference of Parties (COP26) has planned. The IRIS platform aims to create an infrastructure that can withstand disasters and reduce economic losses in the island nations. The IRIS initiative will be launched with an initial funding of $10 million from Australia, India and the UK. The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 12, 2021.
9.The United Nations has warned that the temperature of the earth will rise to a dangerous level of about 2 decimal 7 degrees Celsius.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guters of Glasgow, Scotland upcoming international climate change conference stressed the need to overcome differences on global environmental action plan among the world’s leaders before. He said that this is a critical situation and the emissions gap is the result of differences between the leaders.
10.Agni-5 missile successfully test-fired
Orissa ‘s Abdul Kalam island on Agni-5 missile was successfully tested. This missile has the capability to hit targets up to a distance of 5000 km . Under its JD, the whole of Asia including China and Pakistan will come. This was the eighth Test of Agni-5. Agni-5 is India’s first and only intercontinental ballistic missile , developed by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) . With this, India has become the fifth country in the world to develop such a missile . Right now only America, Russia, France and ChinaOnly had such missiles. With this test, India has joined the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Club along with America, Russia, China and France. Agni-5 is 17.5 meters long with a diameter of two meters i.e. 6.7 feet. This missile covers a distance of 8.16 km in one second. It is capable of simultaneously carrying up to one and a half tons of nuclear warheads. The entire continent of Asia and Africa and most of Europe will be under its JD. This missile once released cannot be stopped. A three-stage solid fuel engine is used in this missile.
11.National Tribal Dance Festival
” Chhattisgarh Tourism Board by October 28 from Raipur in National Tribal Dance Festival will be held, which will be attended by various Indian and international dance group. 12.NIF has developed a poly-herbal drug called Mastirak Gel for the treatment of mastitis in cattle.
Recently, the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) of dairy cattle in the swelling of Mastitis (milk glands) in the treatment of Mstirk prison has developed a poly-herbal medicine called. NIF is an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to innovate indigenous technologies based on the knowledge of farmers. The application of this gel on the surface of infected milk glands of milch animals improves their health. This gel is helpful in reducing the harmful swelling of the udder. It helps in effective management of the disease at a low cost as well as reducing the use of antibiotics. Treating infected animals with antibiotics has become a public health threat at present.
13.UDAN 4.1: First direct flight inaugurated on Shillong-Dibrugarh route
The Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the first direct flight on the Shillong-Dibrugarh sector on October 26, 2021 . This flight is called Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN).operated under. In September 2021, over 5000 passengers traveled from Shillong airport. Shillong is one of the highest and wettest places in the world. This is important not only for India but for the whole world. It has always been known as the Scotland of the East due to the presence of rolling hills, tallest waterfalls, caves, beautiful landscapes as well as its rich heritage and culture. This place attracts tourists from all over the world. So there is a need to improve connectivity there. During the UDAN 4 bidding process, IndiGo won the bid for the Shillong-Dibrugarh route. It will deploy its 78-seater ATR 72 aircraft on the route. Under the UDAN scheme, around 389 routes and 62 airports have been operationalised.
14.Central government to set up panel for National Employment Policy
The central government has a national employment policy (National Employment Policy) has planned to set up a committee, which seeks to prepare a roadmap to improve employment opportunities in India. It will be based on data from five All India Labor Surveys and e-Shram Portal to facilitate evidence-based policy making for employment generation. After deliberation, it will be sent for cabinet approval.

16.UN warns of Afghan food crisis
The World Food Program (WFP) has warned that millions of Afghans, including children, could starve to death if immediate action is not taken. WFP is calling for the release of frozen funds without delay to provide humanitarian aid. About 22.8 million people, who make up half of the entire population of Afghanistan, are facing a serious food crisis . According to WFP, to meet the demand for food, around US$220 million would be needed by the end of winter. WFP is the food-aid wing of the United Nations. It is the largest humanitarian organization in the world, focusing on hunger and food security. The organization is also the largest provider of school meals. It was founded in 1961 and is headquartered in Rome.
17.China introduces new border law
China was the first country in the border areas ” protection and exploitation ” ( Protection And Exploitation created a national law). The timing of the new border law is crucial as China moves across the Line of Actual Control (LAC).But is constantly fighting with India. According to Chinese media, the new law has been enacted with the aim of maintaining national security and managing border related matters at the legal level amid regional tensions. The new border law will come into effect from January 1, 2022. It provides for China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to counter any “invasion, encroachment, intrusion, [or] provocation” across China’s land borders. The law requires the Chinese government to take measures to “strengthen border defense, support economic and social development, and open up border areas”. The Chinese law has been created in the backdrop of territorial tensions along its border with India. As per reports, this law has a wide scope with respect to boundary matters. China shares a land border of about 22,000 km with 14 countries, With which disputes arise because of the mismatch between its historical perception and the ground realities of its regions. India shares a border of 3,488 km with China, which extends from Arunachal Pradesh to Jammu and Kashmir. The border with India is not completely demarcated.

20.First case of Zika virus reported in Uttar Pradesh
On October 24, 2021, the first case of Zika virus was reported from Kanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh . JICA virus Flaviviride (Flaviviridae) virus is a member of the family. It is also associated with daytime active Aedes mosquitoes such as A. aegypti and A. albopictus spreads. Its name is Zika Forest of Uganda .where the virus was first isolated in 1947. Zika virus has the same genus as dengue, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis and West Nile virus. Since the 1950s, the virus spread within the narrow equatorial belt from Africa to Asia. It started spreading eastwards from 2007 onwards. As a result, it became a pandemic in 2015-2016. Zika virus is spread by Aedes species mosquitoes. These viruses are found in high density throughout the state. Aedes mosquitoes are the carriers of dengue and breed in stagnant fresh water.

Otto Wichterle is best known for inventing the modern soft contact lens , which is currently used by an estimated 140 million people worldwide. Born in 1913 in Prostejov , Czech Republic (then Austria-Hungary) , Otto Vichterle received his doctorate in organic chemistry from the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology in 1936. He served as a professor at the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology in the 1950s. In 1961, Otto Wichterle designed the world’s first soft contact lens.
27.India-Sweden Innovation Day
The 8th Innovation Day was organized by India and Sweden on 26 October 2021 . During this online event, representatives of both countries discussed various aspects of climate change and possible solutions to the ‘ Green Transition ‘. The one-day event, organized for the purpose of discussing climate change, was divided into nine parts. Ideas were also exchanged during the session to apply digital technology and artificial intelligence to offer climate friendly solutions.
