1.Imran Khan, Election Commission ordered arrest :-

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan’s difficulties may increase Pakistan’s Election Commission issued a non-bailable warrant against him on Thursday in a case of contempt of court.

Although the commission has summoned this step several times, it has raised the issue of Imran’s absence.

Election Commission has ordered that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) chief Imran Khan be arrested and presented on the next hearing on October 26. This case of contempt against Khan was one of the founding leaders of his party, Akbar S.

Babar has filed. Dawn News quoted PPI spokesman Newamul Haq as saying that the party will challenge the warrant in the Islamabad High Court.

 

2.The Tamil Nadu Cabinet has approved the implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for the employees and teachers of the State Government :-

The Tamil Nadu Cabinet has approved the implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for the employees and teachers of the state government. Chief Minister E.K.

The decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting in the Secretariat in Chennai on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Pallanisamy. Our correspondent has reported that this will increase the salary of the employees by 20 percent.

 

3.Medal winner in the World Youth Archery, Sports Minister, Colonel Rajyavardhana meets Rathore :-

Medal winner in the World Youth Archery, meet today’s Sports Minister Colonel Rajyavardhana Rathore in New Delhi.

In the competition held in Argentina, the Indian team won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. Congratulating the winners, Colonel Rathod inquired about trainers and training facilities.

He suggested that preparations should be made in international competitions and especially the Olympic Games in such contests as archery. India remained seventh in the medal tally of World Archery Championship.

 

4.Announcement of major changes in GST rates to increase oil and gas production :-

To increase the domestic and domestic oil and gas production, the government has announced a major change in GST rates. Oil drilling rigs (equipment used in oil exploration) have been completely freed from GST rate.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has issued a statement giving details of the decision taken in the GST Council meeting in this regard.

 

5.India faces FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup Group-A today from Ghana :-

India will face Ghana in the last match of Group A in the FIFA Under 17 World Cup. Ghana’s team has won the title twice. In the last match against Colombia, the Indian team did a great job.

The hosts had to face defeat in the first two matches. In the first match played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the US beat India 3-0, while Colombia defeated the hosts by 2-1 in a highly contested match.

 

  1. In the inaugural match of the Asia Cup Hockey Tournament, India defeated Japan 5-1 :-

In Dhaka, India defeated Japan 5-1 in the inaugural match of the tenth Asia Cup hockey tournament.

This is India’s first tournament after taking the position of new coach Marin Schuard. India’s Pool A will next take on hosts hosts Bangladesh on Friday.

 

7.TCS, profit up 8.5 percent to Rs 6,450 crore; earnings also increased :-

IT sector giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has released its results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2017-18. In the second quarter of the current financial year, income of the company has also increased.

During the second quarter of the company (July to September), the profit has increased 8.5 percent to Rs. 6450 crore. In the first quarter of the current financial year (2017-18), the company had registered a profit of Rs. 5,945 crore.

 

8.Shri Mahesh Kumar Gupta appointed as New Member Engineering Railway Board :-

Shri Mahesh Kumar Gupta, has been appointed as new Member (Engineering) Railway Board and ex officio Secretary to the Government of India to assume charge with effect from 11th October 2017.

Shri Gupta, an officer of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) of 1979 batch, and is a Bachelor in Engineering from University of Roorkee in the year 1979.

 

9.Shri D.K.Gayen appointed as New Member Staff Railway Board  :-

Shri D.K.Gayen, has been appointed as new Member (Staff) Railway Board and ex officio Secretary to the Government of India to assume charge with effect from 11th October 2017.

Shri Gayen, an officer of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) of 1981 batch, and is a Bachelor in Engineering in Mechanical Discipline from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology in the year 1979.

 

10.18.8% Growth in Foreign Tourist Arrivals in September, 2017 over September, 2016 :-

Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) & FTAs on e-Tourist Visa on the basis of Nationality-wise, Port-wise data received from Bureau of Immigration (BOI).

The number of FTAs in September, 2017 were 7.23 lakh as compared to FTAs of 6.08 lakh in September, 2016 and 5.43 lakh in September, 2015.

The growth rate in FTAs in September, 2017 over September, 2016 is 18.8% compared to 12.1% in September, 2016 over September, 2015.
