1.BJP led NDA set to form new govt at Centre:-

BJP led NDA  is all set to form a new government at the Centre bagging 339 and leading in 12 in the 543 member Lok Sabha elections. BJP alone has won an absolute majority and heading for a landslide victory. It has secured 303 seats. The UPA has won 87 and leading in 3 while others got 87. The Congress alone has bagged 51 seats.Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won from Varanasi by over 4 lakh 79 thousand votes. He has surpassed his previous margin of 3 lakh 71 thousand seven hundred and 84 votes in 2014 parliamentary elections. He defeated SP-BSP-RLD alliance candidate Shalini Yadav who secured one lakh 95 thousand votes.Congress Leader Sonia Gandhi retained Rai Bareily while the party president Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi to Union Minister Smriti Irani by a margin of over 55,000 votes. Union Minister Maneka Gandhi won from Sultanpur. Other Union Ministers who emerged victorious include General VK Singh from Ghaziabad, Mahesh Sharma from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Santosh Kumar Gangwar from Bareilly, Anupriya Patel of NDA ally Apna Dal(S) from Mirzapur, Dr. Satyapal Singh from Baghpat and Niranjan Jyoti from Fatehpur.Varun Gandhi of BJP won Pilibhit seat while Bhojpuri actor and BJP candidate Ravi Kishan won from Gorakhpur. Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav retains Mainpuri seat while party President Akhilesh Yadav won from Azamgarh.In Uttar Pradesh, Out of 80 seats, 77 results have been declared and counting is on for 3 seats. BJP bags 60 seats and leading in 2. Its ally Apna Dal got 2 seats. Bahujan Samaj Party has won 9 seats and leading in 1 while Samajwadi party secures 5.  In Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party has achieved a landslide victory in the  Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. It won 21 Lok Sabha seats and is leading in one as per the data released by the Election Commission of India.In Delhi, BJP has won all the seven parliamentary seats with overwhelming margins.
In Uttarakhand, BJP is leading in all the five seats. State Party President Ajay Bhatt is leading by over three lakh votes against Congress General Secretary, Harish Rawat in Nainital.

In Punjab, the result of all the 13 Lok Sabha seats has come in. Congress has won eight seats followed by BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal in two each while AAP one. Former Union Minister Manish Tewari of the Congress has won from Anandpur Sahib.In Haryana, the BJP has registered major victory as it has won all 10 Lok Sabha seats of the state. Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has retained Gurgaon,  seat defeating his Congress rival Capt. Ajay Singh by a huge margin of nearly 4 lakh votes. In Hisar, Brijendra Singh has registered a huge win by securing over  3 lakh votes. In Chandigarh, Kirron Kher has defeated Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal.In Himachal Pradesh also the ruling BJP has won all the 4 Lok Sabha seats. Anurag Thakur has won in Hamirpur, Suresh Kumar Kashyap in Shimla, Ram Swaroop Sharma in Mandi and Kishan Kapoor in Kangra.In Jammu and Kashmir, BJP candidate and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has bagged Udhampur seat. The party has also bagged Ladakh and Jammu seats. National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah has won the Srinagar seat. The party candidates Hasnain Masoodi bags Anantnag and Mohammad Akbar Lone gets Baramulla seat.In Rajasthan, out of 25 seats, BJP has won 24 while its ally Rashtriya Loktantrik Party one. Union Minister Col. Rajyawardhan Rathore of BJP retains Jaipur Rural, by a margin of nearly 4 lakh votes. Son of former CM Vasundhara Raje and Sitting MP Dushyant Singh of BJP retains Jhalawar Baran.In Gujarat, BJP is heading towards a clean sweep once again. It has already bagged 24 seats so far and leading in Ahmedabad West and Junagadh constituencies out of a total of 26 seats. BJP President Amit Shah has won Gandhinagar seat by a huge margin of over 5 lakh 57 thousand votes.In Maharashtra, out of 47 results have been declared so far and counting is in progress in one constituency.  Out of this BJP gets 23 seats and its ally Shivsena 17. NCP has bagged 4 seats while Congress and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen get one seat each.In Goa, both BJP and Congress have bagged one seat each while Union Minister of state Shripad Naik has won North Goa seat, Congress leader Francisco Sardinha gets South Goa seat.In West Bengal, results of 39 out of 42 Lok Sabha constituencies have been declared. All India Trinamool Congress has bagged 19 seats followed by  BJP 18 and Congress 2.In Odisha, only three results out of 21 seats have been declared so far. While Biju Janata Dal has bagged two seats, BJP gets one. The latest trend shows BJD is leading in 10 seats followed by BJP in seven and Congress in one.In Bihar, all the results have been declared. Out of 40 seats, BJP has bagged 17 seats while its ally Janta Dal (United) gets 16 and Lok Janshakti Party got six. Congress could manage only one.In Jharkhand, all the 14 results have been declared. BJP has got eleven while AJSU party, Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha gets one each.

2.PM Modi drops ‘chowkidar’ prefix from twitter handle:-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Chowkidar has become a powerful symbol to safeguard India from the evils of casteism, communalism, corruption and cronyism. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the word Chowkidar goes from his Twitter name but it remains an integral part of him. He also urged all to do the same. He said, the people of India became Chowkidars and rendered great service to the nation.Prime Minister said, now, the time has come to take the Chowkidar Spirit to the next level and keep this spirit alive at every moment and continue working for India’s progress.

3.World leaders congratulate PM Modi on historic victory in general elections:-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received congratulatory telephone calls from leaders across the world on the victory in the General election.The leaders include Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.Expressing his gratitude for their compliments and good wishes, Mr Modi said that the general elections embodied the strength of Indian democracy, which is the world’s largest.He thanked the global leaders for their cooperation in developing mutually beneficial bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation and expressed his desire to continue to work further with them in fostering even stronger ties.

4.PM Modi dedicates NDA’s victory to people of India:-

Prime minister Narendra Modi has termed his party’s victory as the victory of democracy.Addressing a gathering at party headquarters in New Delhi,  he said this is democracy’s biggest event. Mr Modi dedicated this victory to the people saying it is a mandate for a new India.He said in 17 states and Union territories the Congress could not even open its account. Prime Minister said, this is a victory of self-respect for the country.

5.Jagan Mohan Reddy to be sworn in as CM of Andhra Pradesh on May 30:-

In Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy will be sworn in as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh on 30th of this month at Vijayawada. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced this following his party achieving inching towards a landslide victory in the legislative elections for Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly held on April 11th. The YSR Congress won 74 seats and is leading in 76 seats till the last reports came in. However, the results are yet to be announced officially.

6.Bhawana Kanth becomes the 1st fighter pilot to qualify to undertake combat missions:-

Indian Air Force officer Flight Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth has become the first day-time Indian woman fighter pilot.This comes after she completed her day operational syllabus as a fighter pilot on the MiG-21 Bison aircraft.Officials said the next woman fighter pilot to undertake missions by day is Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi.

7.Sri Lankan leaders congratulate PM Modi:-

The Sri Lankan government and other political leaders of the island nation have congratulated BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in his congratulatory message termed the victory as people’s re-endorsement of Mr Modi’s leadership.He said, Colombo looks forward to continuing the warm and constructive relationship with New Delhi in future.Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also said they looked forward to working with Mr Modi. Opposition leader and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa also sent heartfelt wishes and congratulations.He wished Mr Modi and people of India the very best under the Prime Minister’s dynamic leadership.

 

8.UAE launches ‘Golden Card’ scheme:-The United Arab Emirates launched a permanent residency scheme to woo wealthy individuals and exceptional talents.The “Golden Card” programme is open to investors and “exceptional talents” such as doctors, engineers, scientists, students and artists.This move is expected to attract more Indian professionals and businessmen to the Gulf nation.The first group of 6,800 investors from over 70 countries with investments totalling 100 billion dirhams (USD 27 billion) were being given permanent residency.
