Dr. Vasudha Gupta , a senior officer of the Indian Information Service , has been appointed as the Director General of News Services Division of All India Radio . Principal Director General of News Services Division and Director General of All India Radio N. Venudhar Reddyretired. Dr. Vasudha Gupta, a 1989 batch officer, has worked in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in various capacities in her tenure of more than 32 years. Prior to being appointed as the Director General of News Services Division, she was working as Director General in the Press Information Bureau-PIB. Dr. Vasudha Gupta was instrumental in designing and ensuring implementation of new technology to meet the challenge of information transmission during the COVID pandemic. He has also played an active role in developing Feedback Dashboards for the Government of India. Dr Vasudha Gupta, a PhD degree in Finance from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, had earlier taken the initiative to develop social media platforms in regional languages while working as Additional Director General in All India News.

India is the sixth largest economy in the world with a GDP of $27 trillion and is currently classified as a developing country. Mr. Debroy was speaking at an event related to release of Competitive Action Plan for India@100 in New Delhi yesterday. According to the definition of the World Bank, a country with an annual income of more than 12 thousand dollars per capita is considered as a country of high income. According to the International Monetary Fund, the Indian economy is projected to grow by 7.4% in 2022-23 and will become the world’s fastest growing economy.

The Finance Ministry has released four thousand one hundred 89 crore rupees for providing grants to rural local bodies in four states . Out of this amount, Uttar Pradesh more than two thousand two hundred 39 crore rupees , Gujarat more than seven hundred eight crore rupees , Karnataka more than six hundred 28 crore rupees , Andhra Pradesh more than five hundred 69 crore rupees and Tripura more than 44 crore rupees .to the local bodies. This amount is given to the local bodies in addition to the funds allocated by the Central Government and the State Government for sanitation and drinking water under Centrally Sponsored Programs. The Ministry said that the 15th Finance Commission had approved the release of basic grants to local bodies on the recommendation of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation. This amount is used for maintaining cleanliness and open defecation free status and for works like drinking water supply, rain water conservation and water recycling. The Ministry has informed that a total grant of more than Rs 15 thousand seven hundred five crore has been released to rural local bodies in 2022-23 so far.

15. CERT-In conducts cyber security exercise “Synergy” as part of Resilience Working Group – an international anti-ransomware initiative for 13 countries
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) , under the Ministry of Electronics and IT , Government of India , in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) , Singapore , has collaborated with Cyber Security Agency (CSA) for 13 countries as part of the Resilience Working Group, an international anti-ransomware initiative . Security exercise ” Synergy “Prepared the outline and conducted it successfully. The Resilience Working Group is being led by India under the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). The theme of the exercise was “Building a Strong Network to Respond to Ransomware Attacks”. The exercise scenario was drawn from real-life cyber incidents, in which an incident of domestic (limited impact) ransomware escalated into a global cyber security crisis. Exercise “Synergy” was conducted by CERT-In on its simulation platform related to the exercise.

As per the MoU, PTC will purchase power from NHPC as per the contracted capacity from the date of commercial operation of the above projects and further sale to State Utility Companies/Discoms/Wholesale Consumers in India and neighboring countries on a long term basis. PTC will also try to sell the surplus available power capacity on medium/short term basis or on power exchange.
18.Forex reserves hit 2-year low

Foreign exchange reserves declined by $6.687 billion to $564.053 billion for the week ended August 19 , according to the latest data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) . 24. Eminent economist Abhijit Sen passes away
Abhijit Sen , a former member of the Planning Commission and one of the leading experts on rural economy, passed away. He was 72 years old. Sen’s brother Dr. Pranab Sen gave this information. Sen’s career spanned more than four decades. He has taught economics at Oxford, Cambridge and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi. Abhijit Sen has also served in several important government positions, including the post of chairman of the Agricultural Costs and Prices Commission. Abhijit Sen was a member of the Planning Commission from 2004 to 2014 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Sen was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2010. When the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power in 2014, it assigned Sen the post of head of a high-level task force to formulate a “long-term grain policy”
