1.Cabinet approves agricultural scientific recruitment board (ASRB) :-

The Cabinet has approved the Agricultural Scientific Recruitment Board (ASRB) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi .

ASRB will now have four members in place of three members. There will be one president and three members in the board.

The ASRB will be of three years or till completion of 65 years, whichever is earlier.

In view of the objective of autonomy, confidentiality, responsibility and effective operation of the ASRB, it will be isolated from the ICAR and will be linked to the Department of Agriculture Research and Education under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The budget of ASRB will also be isolated from ICAR under the Department of Agriculture Research and Education. The ASRB will have its administrative staff in the secretariat and will have independent administrative control.

 

2.Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) will acquire the controlling part of IDBI Bank :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the government’s holding in IDBI Bank below 50 per cent. The Cabinet has approved the acquisition of the controlling part of the bank as the innovator in the bank through the LIC of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) through open allocation / equity open offer and leaving the management control by the government in the bank.

With this acquisition, consumers, LICs and banks will get extensive benefits of the solution.

LIC and IDBI Bank will get bigger market acquisition , reduction in distribution cost and consumer acquisition , greater capacity and flexibility in operation and more opportunities for each other to sell products and services.

This will help LIC and the bank to become financially strong and help their subsidiaries to bring in financial products such as housing finance and mutual funds.

For banking services at the door, the bank will get an opportunity to hire 11 lakh LIC agents and it will have an opportunity to improve consumer services and strengthen financial inclusion.

The bank will get the benefit in terms of lower cost of funds through fee income from purchase and payment services of deposits.

 

3.The Cabinet approved 13 new Central Schools in seven States and the second Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Elott of Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal to open 13 new Central Schools (KVs) in seven states and to open the second Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Elott, Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh.

13 new schools in Banda (UP), Washim (Maharashtra), Chakpikarong (Manipur), Parbham (Maharashtra), Nawada (Bihar), Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh), Palamu (Jharkhand), Siddipet (Telangana) Kudamalakunte (Karnataka) CISF will be opened in Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) Devkund (Bihar) and Bawli (Uttar Pradesh).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has also approved the setting up of additional Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalay in Elott in Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh.

 

4.Logo Design Contest for ‘Krishna Kutir’ (Vrindavan Ashram)  :-

Women and Child Development , Government of India, the shelter built for the widows , named Krishna cottage , has launched the competition to design the logo for her (contest). This contest has started today from August 1 , 2018 , whereas the last date for participating in this contest will be August 15 . The entries which will be sent after this will not be included in this comment. To participate in the contest , designate the logo of the shelter house and send the entry to creativecorner.mwcd@gmail.com or MyGov .

The ‘Krishna Kutir’ shelter house is in Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh and the facility to provide shelter to 1000 elderly widows has been provided in this shelter house. This shelter house is about to start soon.

 

5.Between India and Germany, 653.7 million Euros (about Rs 5,253 crore) financial and technical cooperation in 2017 agreement were signed in New Delhi :-

Under the Indo-German bilateral development cooperation, the 2017 Agreement of Financial and Technical Cooperation between the two countries was signed in New Delhi. Large agreements for financial cooperation between India and Germany were signed to formalize financial grant of reduced interest loan (RIL) and 5.5 million euros of 610 million euros. Agreement on technical grants of 38.20 million euros for various projects in the field of energy, environment and urban development, especially between the two Governments. In this way, the agreements between the two countries amounted to a total of 653.7 million Euros (approximately Rs 5,253 crore).

 

6.Inland Waterway Authority (IWAI) launched new portal for cargo owners and shipping companies :-

Inland Waterways Authority (IWAI) started a dedicated portal linking real time data on availability of ships to logistics operators and shipping traders. This portal will be the means of direct contact between shipping operators , shipers and cargo owners. There was no system to know the availability of ships in the market so far. It has been designed and developed by IWAI’s IT department and traffic unit as part of its preparation for optimum utilization of capacity development on various national waterways.

This portal has been given the name of the cargo owners and platform of operators (focal). Links to the portal are available on IWAI’s website www.iwai.nic.in ‘s homepage.

 

7.India held the first summit of Nepal Idea Forum held in Kathmandu :-

On Tuesday, the first ‘Nepal-India Think Tank’ summit was organized to further enhance cooperation between India and Nepal in Kathmandu.

The former Prime Minister of Nepal and co-chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ inaugurated the summit.

In his address, Shri Prachanda said that recent mutual visits of the Prime Ministers of both the countries have created new momentum in bilateral relations. He also said that the initiative to execute all bilateral agreements and understanding has generated a new wave of enthusiasm in Nepal.

Bhartiya Janta Party General Secretary Shri Ram Madhav said that India is committed to support the Prime Minister’s ambitious development.

Nepal’s Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister, Magazine Prasad Yadav and India’s Ambassador to Nepal Manvijay Puri also participated in the Summit.

 

8.Electric buses to run in Mussoorie-Nainital, will prove to be effective from environmental point of view :-

In terms of tourism, the government has decided to run 50 electric buses in Mussoorie and Nainital. These buses will be operated contractually under Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (Roadways). These 25 buses will run from Dehradun to Mussoorie and the remaining 25 between Haldwani-Nainital. These buses can prove to be effective from the environmental perspective. With this, in order to deliver roadways bus service to inaccessible areas in the suburbs and to remove the shabby bus fleet, it will purchase 300 new ordinary buses on roadways loan. The state government will bear this interest. Roadways will buy its 10 valve buses for the first time to eliminate the arbitrariness of the valve operators. The government has approved roadways to operate 560 new buses.

 

9.SBI facilitates auto debit facility for investing in NPS, easy way :-

 

State Bank of India (SBI) has given the facility of auto debit to the customers to contribute to the National Pension System (NPS) account. There is no fixed interest rate on NPS but it gives market linked returns by adjusting it in the portfolio.

NPS gives two options for members to design their portfolio – Auto Choice and Active Choice. Through SBI’s auto debit or auto-video facility, the customer tells the bank that he should credit the fixed amount on regular basis in the NPS account.

 

10.Sushma Swaraj left for foreign trips to three countries :-

Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has left for a four-day foreign tour on Thursday morning. Sushma will be on tour to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on Sunday. The Ministry of External Affairs informed about the visit of Sushma Swaraj. The Ministry said, Sushma Swaraj will stay in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic from August 3 to 4, and stay in Uzbekistan from August 4 to 5, on August 2-3.

According to the news, in Kazakhstan, he will hold a bilateral meeting with Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Carrath Abdarmanov and talk to the Indian community there. After this, Sushma will meet Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlen Abdeldev in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and talk to the Indian community.

Sushma Swaraj will arrive in Tashkent in Uzbekistan on August 4 and discuss with Ghazid Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz Kamilov.
