Cabinet gives approval to extend the recapitalization plan of regional rural banks to 2019-20

1.The Cabinet approved the renewal of MOU between Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Saudi Organization and Certified Public Accountants :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet approved the renewal of the agreement of 2014, which was passed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Saudi Organization of Saudi Arabia and Certified Public Accountants (SOPPA) Research and suggestion, forensic accounting, small and small case practice (SMP), Islamic Finance, Works to increase mutual cooperation in continuous professional development (CPD) and other subjects.

 

2.Cabinet gives approval to extend the recapitalization plan of regional rural banks to 2019-20 :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the expansion of Regional Rural Banks’ Recapitalization Scheme for the next three years i.e. 2019-20. Through this, RRB will be able to maintain the minimum fixed capital at 9% of the risk asset ratio (CRAR).

 

effect –

A strong capital structure and the minimum level of CRAR will ensure the financial sustainability of the RRB. Through this RRB will be able to play a key role in financial inclusion and meet the capital requirements of rural areas.

56 RRBs are employed in the country. By March 31, 2017, the RRB had given a loan of Rs 2,28,599 crore. The major categories of loans are:

RRB recapitalization scheme was launched in the financial year 2010-11 and it was expanded twice in 2012-13 and 2015-16. The final expansion was for March 31, 2017. Out of total Rs.1450 crores, a sum of Rs.1107.20 crores was released to RRB as part of Government of India till March 31, 2017. The remaining Rs 342.80 crore will be made available to RRB’s recapitalization assistance, whose CRAR was less than 9 percent during 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20.

In consultation with NABARD, those RRBs will be identified which need recapitalization. This arrangement will be in addition to the budget announcement of 2018-19 by the Finance Minister. In the budget announcement, financially strong RRB was sanctioned capital formation from other sources other than the Indian government, state government and sponsor bank sources.

 

3.The Cabinet approved the name of Agartala Airport of Tripura to Maharaja Beer Vikram Manikya Kishore Airport, Agartala :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has changed the name of Agartala Airport in Tripura to Maharaja Beer Vikram Manikya Kishore Airport , Agartala. This decision was taken in the light of the long standing demand of the people of Tripura and tribute to the Maharaja Beer Vikram Manikya Kishore by Tripura Government.

 

Background –

Maharaja Beer Vikram Manikya Kishore became the king of Tripura state in 1923. He was a scholar and regent ruler. Agartala Airport was built in 1942 on the land donated by Maharaja Bire Vikram Manikya Kishor.

 

4.The services of three lakh rural level entrepreneurs managing CSC will be taken as banking correspondents :–

CSC SPV, a special purpose company under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (IT), has entered into an agreement with HDFC Bank, so that its 3 lakh rural-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) managing the Common Service Center Can be able to operate as a banking correspondent of HDFC Bank. On this agreement, Mr. Aditya Puri, Chairman and Managing Director of HDFC and Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, CEO of CSC SPV, today signed the presence of Honorable Electronics and IT Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad in the Ministry of Electronics and IT, New Delhi.

 

5.The first meeting between Iran and the world powers after Iran’s exit from Iran’s nuclear deal :-

Tehran and Moscow have been told that five great powers and Iran’s foreign ministers involved in the 2015 nuclear deal will meet on Friday in Vienna. From this agreement the US was out in the beginning of the year. According to IRAN official news agency Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javed Zarif will talk to Britain, China, France, Germany and the Foreign Minister of Russia in the Capital of Austria.

 

6.Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets former Prime Minister Rena Ondinga of Kenya :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Rallya Odinga, the leader of Kenya’s former Prime Minister and opposition leader in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Modi recalled his old relation when he went to Kenya as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Mr. Odinga also remembered his visit to India in 2009 and 2012.

The two leaders have discussed progress on Indo-Kenya relations and regional and global issues of mutual interest in recent years.

 

7.Supreme Court said: The Lt Governor does not have the right to make independent decisions :-

The Supreme Court has given the order that the Lt Governor does not have the right to make independent decisions and he has to work according to the help and advice of the Council of Ministers. The Supreme Court gave this ruling during the hearings of the Delhi Government appeals challenging the order of the Delhi High Court, which referred the Governor as the administrative head of the National Capital.

The Constitution bench of five judges, chaired by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, while deciding the verdict said that the Lt Governor can not even play the role of obstructing. Two other judges, Justice AK Sikri and Justice AM Khanvilkar also agreed on this. According to the decision, all the decisions of the Council of Ministers should be sent to the Lt. Governor, but this does not mean that the consent of the Lieutenant Governor is necessary on them.

 

8.Election Commission launches mobile app C-Visil for citizens :-

The Election Commission has launched Mobile Aap C-Visil for citizens on Tuesday. It will give information about the violation of code of conduct during the civil election. Chief Election Commissioner O.P. Rawat inaugurated this app at a function in New Delhi.

The C-Vizel mobile app can be used simply and can be used only where the election has been announced.

 

9.Bombay Stock Exchange to remove 222 companies from their list :-

The Bombay Stock Exchange will remove 222 companies from their list from Wednesday, in the stock market whose business has been closed for the last six months. This step has been taken at a time when the officials are taking action against listed and unregistered bogus companies, which are used in the illegal money business.

In August last year, SEBI had directed stock exchanges to take action against more than 330 suspected companies.

 

10.Qatar bought in Saha’s Plaza Hotel, for half a thousand crores, more than 100 years old :-

Qatar’s government fund has bought the New York-based Plaza Hotel for $ 500 million (about Rs 3,400 crore). Sahara India group, led by Subrata Roy, has a majority stake in this prestigious hotel in New York.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Qatar’s government company Qatar Holding has acquired a complete takeover of the Plaza Hotel with a 75% share of the Sahara Group. Qatar Holding is a hotel buying and managing hospitality company for the Qatar government worldwide.

 

11.Dhillon of Indian origin appointed the key post in the Trump administration, acting director of the drug agency :-

The White House’s top advocate, Indian-American Uttam Dhillon, has been appointed acting director of the drug enforcement agency. This institution works in America against smuggling and its use of drugs. Dhillon has replaced Robert Patterson. After 30 years of service, Patterson has retired.

Dhillon has worked as Deputy Assistant to Deputy Attorney and President Donald Trump in the White House. He has worked as a federal prosecutor against the justice department, internal security, Congress and drug traffickers. He took charge as the acting Director of the Drug Enforcement Agency.

 

12.’MS Dhoni-The Untold Story’ will be made sequel, Sushant Rajput will be in lead role :-

Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has great news for the fans. Two years ago, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, based on the life of Dhoni, will now be a sequel. According to the media reports, the story after Dhoni’s captaincy in this sequel will be revealed in 2011 after Team India became world champion. In this film, Sushant Singh Rajput will again be seen in the lead role. ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ was directed by Neeraj Pandey.
