The Government and the European Investment Bank have signed a financial agreement worth 250 million Euros as the first tranche of loan for the Agra Metro Rail Project . Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the construction work of the Agra Metro project through video conference last year. The European Investment Bank has approved a total loan of 450 million euros to finance the project . The objective of this project is to provide a safe, reliable, economical and environment friendly rapid transit system for the city of Agra.

6.National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) re-accredited by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)

The National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) has regained the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accreditation. NDTL has been informed by WADA that its recognition has been restored. With this, anti-doping testing and other activities of NDTL will resume with immediate effect. This was announced by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur in a tweet.

7.World Anti-Doping Agency report on rule violations: India in top three of world’s biggest doping violators

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recently published its report on “ rule violations ”. The number of offenders in India increased in 2019, making India among the top-three of the world’s biggest doping violators . Body building, weightlifting and athletics have contributed majorly to India’s embarrassing record. In 2019, 152 Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs), which accounted for 17 percent of the world total, were registered in India. Out of the total offenders, maximum dope offenders were reported from body building (57). In the Olympic Games, weightlifting leads with 25 ADRV. It is followed by athletics (20) and wrestling (10). Boxing and Judo have reported four ADRVs. Four cricketers also did ADRVs (Anti-doping Rule Violations) in 2019. Around the world, RussiaTops the list with 167 ADRV . Italy is followed by Russia with 157 ADRV. Brazil is at the fourth position with 78 ADRV and Iran is in fifth place with 70 ADRV.

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) entered into an agreement with KfW Development Bank for availing ODA term loan of USD 169.5 million under Indo-German Bilateral Partnership with the approval of Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India Is. The proceeds of the ODA loan will be used for part financing of innovative solar PV technology based power generation projects at competitive interest rates. This is the fifth line of credit signed between REC Limited and KfW for financing power sector projects and the third line of credit for financing renewable energy projects.

12.’Chillai Kalan’ begins in Kashmir

17.PM Jan Dhan Yojana account crosses 44 crore mark

The total number of beneficiaries under the Centre’s financial inclusion scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has crossed the 44 crore mark. The total number of accounts opened under PMJDY was 44.05 crore, with a total balance of Rs 1,47,812 crore as on December 8. Uttar Pradesh tops with the highest number of accounts followed by Bihar. Since its launch in 2014, the scheme has been continuously expanding its base. PMJDY was launched on 28 August 2014 with the objective of providing universal access to banking facilities to the people in the country. As per RBI guidelines, savings and current accounts will be classified as dormant if there are no transactions in the account for two years. The average balance in Jan Dhan accounts across all banks is around Rs 2,700.

24.Advance tax collection up 54% to Rs 4.60 lakh crore

According to the Finance Ministry , the advance tax collection so far this financial year has increased by 53.50 percent to Rs 4.60 lakh crore , which is a sign of recovery in the economy. Direct tax collections for 2021-22 till December 16 show that net collections stand at Rs 9.45 lakh crore, representing an increase of 60.8 per cent as compared to Rs 5.88 lakh crore in the year-ago period. The cumulative advance tax collection for the primary, second and third quarters of 2021-22 stood at Rs 4,59,917.1 crore as on December 16, 2021, towards the advance tax collection of Rs 2,99,620.5 crore for the corresponding interval of 2020-21, approx. showing an increase of 53.5 percent.
