1.Delegation of OBC MPs and leaders calls on PM :-

A delegation of OBC Parliamentarians and leaders from BJP called on Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at New Delhi, today.

Members of the delegation felicitated the Prime Minister for providing constitutional status to OBC Commission. The members said that the historic step would help in strengthening the OBC community.

 

2.Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India, in order to facilitate the availability and integration of TRAI’s mobile app on the platform :-

In the last several years, the objective of policy initiatives taken by TRAI is to protect the interests of consumers. TRAI has recognized the importance of reaching consumers find and connect with them to protect their interests Institution mobile app -diandi 2.0 and Moycol exaltation platform.

Umang (Integrated Mobile Application for New Age Government System) has been developed by the National e-Government Department of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) Department (NeGD). The excitement provides a single platform for all Indian nationals across the country from the Central Government to the level of local bodies and for other citizen centric e-services. It provides an integrated system through which citizens can install a single application and use many government services. Now TRAI’s mobile apps will also be available primarily on DND 2.0 and Moya-call Ummang platforms.

 

3.President inaugurates centenary celebrations of St. Thomas College of Thrissur :-

President Ramnath Kovind inaugurated the Centenary Festival of St. Thomas College in Thrissur, Kerala.

On this occasion, Shri Kovind said that the Christian community of Kerala is not only the country but also the oldest community in the whole world. As the legacy and history of this community is a matter of pride for the entire country, diversity and pluralism have also been a symbol of India’s commitment towards society.

 

4.Apee Strategy-cum-Review Meeting was organized in Bangalore for the financial year 2018-19 for banks in south India, during the year 2018-19, more than 1 million accounts were organized and total number of 1.09 crore members under the AWY has gone :-

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) organized a Regional API (Atal Pension Scheme) Strategy – Co-review meeting for the financial year 2018-19 for the banks of South India (Karnataka and Kerala) and DOP Circles yesterday in Bangalore. Whose objective was to discuss the strategies adopted by banks for achieving the targets fixed for the financial year 2018-19 and their acquisition . During the financial year 2018-19, more than 10 lakh accounts have been organized and total number of members under the Atal Pension Scheme has now reached 1.09 crore.

 

5.Colonel Rajyavardhana Rathore flagged off a women mountaineer team for Mount Munirang :-

Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Information and Broadcasting and Youth and Sports Affairs, flagged off a women mountaineer flag flagged off Mount Manirang (6593 meters / 21631 feet) in Himachal Pradesh. This campaign has been organized in the honor of Silver Jainti of Women’s 1993 Mount Everest campaign.

 

6.Saudi Arabia summons Canadian ambassador, summons his ambassador :-

Saudi Arabia  today announced the removal of the Canadian ambassador by accusing him of “interference” in his internal affairs  and recalling his ambassador also. At the same time, he also banned business relations with Canada.

It is significant that after the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh had demanded release of closed human rights activists in jail, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “Saudi Arabia will not tolerate interference in its internal affairs.”

 

7.Selected for American-Indian Anita WCA Board :-

Indian American Anita Kumar has been made a part of the ‘ White House Correspondents Association ‘ ( WHCA) board.

” White House Corespondents Association ‘ is a top union of journalists covering the presidential news.

Kumar is covering the White House since 2012 and has been elected unopposed for the WCA Board.

Anita Kumar, who grew up in SherlockSville, has studied at the University of Virginia. After college, he chose journalism as his career and started his career with ‘ News and Advance ‘ in Lynchburg .

 

8.US President again banned Iran, said – Prepare for a new nuclear deal :-

US president Donald Trump has again banned Iran , which was removed in 2015 under Iran’s nuclear deal. But , Mr. Trump also said that they can create a new nuclear deal with Iran to resolve all issues.

Mr Trump announced in May this year the withdrawal of the US nuclear deal.

 

9.Dena Bank loses 722 crores in first quarter :-

Public sector Dena Bank has reported a loss of Rs 721.71 crore in the first quarter ended June. It has been damaged by a surge in a submerged debt (NPA).

In the April-June quarter of the last financial year, it was a loss of Rs 132.65 crore.

The bank said in the information given to the stock exchange that its total income fell 8 percent to Rs. 2,410.01 crore in the unaffordable quarter. In the same quarter a year ago, the income was Rs 2,620.28 crore.

At the same time , income from interest dropped from Rs 2,382.99 crore to Rs 2,248.62 crore.

 

10.Mirabai Chanu withdraws name from Asian Games :-

Before the Asian Games, India today suffered a major setback when the current world and Commonwealth champion weightlifter Meerabai Chanu, who are in medal hopes, took the names back from these games, starting on August 18, citing back pain.

Meerabai has sent an email to the Indian Weightlifting Federation requesting them to be out of these games. Federation general secretary Sahdev Yadav told the language that he has asked for time to prepare for the pain of the waist and the Olympic qualifier and requested to stay out of these games.
