1.Army sets up Peeth of Excellence in memory of General Bipin Rawat

The Army has established a Chair of Excellence at the United Service Institution of India , New Delhi , in the memory of General Bipin Rawat , former Chief of Defense Staff . Chief of Army Staff Manoj Mukund Naravane made the formal announcement at a function held at South Block in New Delhi. On this occasion, a check of Rs 5 lakh was handed over to retired Major General BK Sharma , Director, United Service Institution of India, which would be given to the designated Excellence Chair as honorarium. The late General Bipin Rawat was the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff .

2.SIPRI Report: India emerges as largest importer of arms

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has released its latest report on Trends in International Arms Transfer, 2021 . According to the report, India and Saudi Arabia emerged as the largest importers of arms between 2017-21. Both countries account for 11% of global arms sales . Egypt (5.7%), Australia (5.4%) and China (4.8%) were the next three largest importers in the top 5 respectively. The report placed India at the top of the list. 85% of India’s total imports were from the three countries. Russia (46%), France (27%), and USA (12%) were the top three largest exporters of arms to India during this period.

3.India’s first Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technology Park inaugurated in Bangalore

The country’s first Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technology Park (Artpark) was inaugurated in Bangalore . It has been set up by the Indian Institute of Science-IIS Bangalore with a capital outlay of Rs.230 crore from the State and Central Governments . Artpark aims to drive innovations in the country by executing research projects under ambitious mission-mode in healthcare, education, mobility, infrastructure, agriculture, retail and cyber security sectors.

4.Shri Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate pilot project for Hydrogen based Advanced Fuel Battery Electric Vehicle (FCEV)

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate a pilot project for hydrogen based modern fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) on Wednesday . Toyota Kirloskar Motor in association with International Center for Automotive Technology (ICAT) has undertaken a pilot project to study and assess the world’s most advanced FCEV Toyota Mirai, which is hydrogen powered on Indian roads and climatic conditions. This will be a first of its kind project in the country which aims to spread awareness about Hydrogen, FCEV technology and its benefits to help Hydrogen based society in India.

5.Tapan Singhel, MD & CEO, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance gets an extension of 5 years

8.Center suggests to state governments to increase the strength of women police personnel from 10.3 to 33%

The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs , Nityanand Rai has said that regular advisories are issued to all the State Governments to increase the representation of women in the police . Replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Mr. Rai said that in the advisory, it has been suggested to increase the strength of women policemen from 10.03 percent to 33 percent . He said that it has also been suggested to create additional posts of women constables and sub-inspectors.

9.Delhi government launches ‘My EV’ portal

An online portal “ My EV ” was launched by the Delhi Government for the purchase and registration of Electric Autos in Delhi. ‘My EV Portal’ Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL)It is an online portal developed by the Government of Delhi in association with This portal is available to all users on the website of Transport Department, Government of Delhi. The portal will enable Letter of Intent (LoI) holders to buy electric autos and avail incentives provided by the Delhi government. About 4,261 letters of intent (LoI) are being given by the Delhi government for electric autos. Also, there is a provision of 33 percent reservation for women. This online portal will ensure that interest subvention on loans is provided to the beneficiaries through a seamless automated channel.

10.Promoting self-reliance: BRO signs MoU with GRSE for construction of 27 double-lane Class 70 modular bridges in border areas

Border Roads Organization (BRO) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd. has launched 27 Carriageway Double Lane Galvanized Modular Bridge of 7.5 meters with Indian Road Congress (IRC) Load Class 70Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the supply, manufacture and launch of The two-year contract, costing around Rs 60 crore, was signed on March 15, 2022 in New Delhi by Lt Gen Rajeev Choudhary, Director General, BRO and Commodore PR Hari (Retd., Indian Navy), Acting Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE. BRO successfully test-fired the “Indigenous 140 Feet Double Lane Modular Bridge” of IRC Load Class 70 by GRSE Limited last year. The first of its kind indigenous bridge was dedicated to the nation by Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on December 28, 2021. The bridge was constructed in February 2021 by the karmayogis of Project Swastik on the important “Flag Hill-Dokla” road in Sikkim at 11, It was done at an altitude of 000 ft. The double-lane modular steel bridge developed by GRSE is the only bridge of its kind available in India and is 100% indigenous.

11.Digital School Health Platform launched in Puducherry

Prepaid payment instrument (PPI) issuer, LivQuik announced that it has achieved full interoperability for its prepaid payment instruments, as mandated by the Reserve Bank of India. According to the firm, it is also the first PPI issuer to achieve full interoperability . As per RBI regulations, PPI issuers will have to enable full-KYC wallet interoperability by March 31, 2022 .
