1.Addressing the jawans deployed as the first President to visit Siachen after 14 years, President Kovind said that every Indian is grateful to them and stands with the soldiers and their families  :-

President Shri Ramnath Kovind visited Siachen Base Camp today (May 10, 2018) and addressed the jawans deployed there. He also visited Kumar Post President Kovind is the second Indian President to visit Siachen The last Siachen visit was done by President APJ Abdul Kalam in April 2004. Thus, President Kovind is the first President to visit Siachen after 14 years.

 

2.Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed the full session on ‘Media Regulation Policies: Ethics, Rules and Law’ in the 15th Asia Media Summit 2018 :-

Image result for Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad.Central Electronics and Information Technology and Law and Justice Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad today said that the freedom of the media for the Indian government is an integral part of systematic society, which is duly recognized by the Constitution and it has been strengthened in various decisions of the judiciary. While addressing the 15th Asia Media Summit here today, Shri Prasad said that the media has the complete right to information, advice and counsel, disseminate, criticize. Under the Constitution, the rights of the media are also subject to proper restrictions.

 

3.The top 30 innovations of Atal Tinkering Marathon were displayed :-

Related imageFor the purpose of identifying the best student innovations of India, Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) of the Atal Navnomech Mission of the Commission, organized the Atal Tinkering Marathon. The six-month long competition is based on six different areas – clean energy, water resources, waste management, health, smart traffic and agricultural technology.

On the occasion of National Technology Day, 30 innovations from ATL Marathon were displayed through a booklet. This book mentions the works of children, their counselors, teachers and schools. This book was released by Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Deputy Chairman, Policy Commission with Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan, Mission Director of Atal Navnmesh Mission.

 

4.South-Western Railway achieved safety shield related to operation of trains in 2017-18 :-

Image result for South-Western RailwayDuring the year 2017-18, the South West Railway recorded the best figures and tremendous improvement among all the Mandalay Railways in key areas of security related to the operation of trains. Recognizing the efforts of South Western Railway for better security, the Minister of Railways and Coal, Mr. Piyush Goyal, provided the Safety Minister’s Safety Shield for the 2017-18 South West Railway at the annual awards function. The number of accidents has decreased in South Western Railway. In 2014, there was an accident in 11, 2015-16 in this division, 3 in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

 

5.Nepal’s Guarantee only when India will replace old notes of 500 and 1000 :-

Image result for नेपाल दे गारंटी तभी भारत 500 और 1000 के पुराने नोट बदलेगाIndia has gone a lot forward after banning 500 and 1000 rupees notes in November 2016, but this issue for Nepal is still not resolved. In Nepal’s banks and the general public still have restricted Indian notes of thousands of crores. The Government of Nepal has also urged the Government of India to arrange for issuing new currency notes instead of these notes. This issue will be raised when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will sit for bilateral talks with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday. In Nepal, there are restricted Indian notes of about 1500 crore rupees.

To change these, two conditions will be put on behalf of India. The first condition is that Nepal will have to guarantee that the person who has changed notes will have to identify the identity. Second, to change the note after a certain limit, the person has to disclose the source of his income. If the Nepal government is ready for both of these things and arranges it, then India can arrange for issuing new notes instead of the restricted notes there.

There is no solid assessment of the amount of sanctioned amount to Nepal’s people, but one year ago, the Chamber of Commerce of Nepal had said that this amount could be of one thousand crore rupees. While Nepal’s banks have around Rs 336 crore in restricted notes.

 

6.Hyderabad continues to perform well, Delhi lose 9 wickets :-

7.Auction Notice to NPA, 100 accounts of bank accounts of 1127 colleges in Punjab :-

Image result for नॉन परफॉर्मिंग एसेट्सBank accounts of 1127 private colleges of Punjab have been NPA (Non Performing Assets). More than 100 colleges have issued the order to be auctioned on behalf of the banks. This is happening due to not getting the amount of Dr BR Ambedkar scholarship. Nearly 1650 engineering, medical, polytechnic, arts and degree colleges and ITIs of the state have not been able to get Rs. 1682 crore of Dr BR Ambedkar scholarship for nearly three years.

 

8.US charges in WTO, reduction of subsidy on wheat and rice in India :-

Image result for WTOThe United States has charged India that it has reduced the subsidy in government procurement of wheat and rice. On this issue, he has complained against India in the World Trade Organization (WTO). To ensure proper income to the farmers in the country, the government procures wheat and rice at the minimum support price (MSP).

 

9.Now, the government has given green signal to the initiative of engineering, the initiative of AICTE :-

Image result for AICTEEngineering studies will now be done in English as well as Hindi medium. Technical institutions will also have the freedom to teach courses related to it in Hindi medium now. The government has given this facility to tech institutions. In addition to encouraging this, it has also taken the initiative to prepare engineering related books in Hindi. The government believes that this will increase the trend of engineering in the students, because of the linguistic problems, a large number of students fall short of engineering studies.

 

10.Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed’s coalition victory in Malaysia’s general election :-

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed has won a historic victory in the country’s general elections. Mahathir’s opposition coalition won 115 seats and only 11 seats needed to form the government. The Barrison National Coalition, which has been in power for more than 60 years, has won 79 seats and now the results of few seats are yet to come. Mahatir, 92, will be the oldest Prime Minister of the world when he is ruling. 

 

11.Open for traffic before May 31, Newly Created Eastern Peripheral Expressway: Supreme Court :-

The Supreme Court has directed the National Highway Authority to open the newly constructed Eastern Peripheral Expressway for traffic before May 31, to avoid traffic jam in Delhi.

 

12.India at fourth place in Asia Pacific Power Index :-

Image result for एशिया प्रशांत पावर इंडेक्स में चौथे स्थान पर भारतIndia is at fourth place in the list of 25 countries of Asia-Pacific region spread across Asia and Australia . Australia’s Think Tank Lobby Institute, Asia Power Index, has been assessed in 25 countries of Asia-Pacific, in which India is at 4th position . According to the report, India is in the forefront of the future. The strength of any country is assessed under 8 things. These include financial resources, military capability, flexibility, future trends, diplomatic impact, economic relationship, defense network and cultural impact. Economic Resource, Military Capacity, India’s Ranking Choice in Political ImpactBut in terms of flexibility, India ranked fifth in India’s fifth, cultural influence and future trends. According to the report, a large part of the power status is part of Japan and India. Tokyo is smart power while New Delhi is the power to be in the future.
