1 Government formed 8-member high level committee to explore possibilities of one nation, one election

The government has   constituted  a high-level committee consisting of eight members  to explore the possibilities of  One Nation-One Election . Former President Ram Nath Kovind  has been made the chairman of the committee. Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former chairman of the 15th Finance Commission and some other senior people have been appointed as members of the committee  . Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will be present in the meetings of the committee as a special invitee. Assembly and Lok Sabha elections were held simultaneously in the country from 1951-52 to 1967., But after this the sequence was broken. The newly constituted committee will explore the possibilities of holding Lok Sabha, Assembly, Municipal bodies and Panchayat elections simultaneously in the country under the provisions of the Constitution and will give its suggestions in this regard. It will review whether the approval of the states will be necessary for the resources to be committed in the Constitution for One Nation – One Election. Apart from this, the committee will also give its suggestions to the government regarding the timing and various phases of the elections. It will also ascertain the availability of electronic voting machines and VVPAT along with the human resources required for the One Nation One Election system.

2 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a two-day visit to Indonesia from September 6

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi   will be on a two-day visit to Indonesia from   6 September   to attend the 20th ASEAN India Summit  and  the 18th East Asia Summit . Both the summits  will be hosted  by  the current ASEAN Chair Indonesia  in Jakarta . This is the first summit being held after India-ASEAN relations were elevated to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last year. In this conference, the progress of India-ASEAN relations will be reviewed and the future direction of mutual cooperation will be determined. The East Asia Summit will provide an opportunity for leaders of ASEAN countries and its eight dialogue partners, including India, to exchange views on issues of regional and global importance.

3 Successful launch of India’s first solar mission Aditya-L-1 from Sriharikota Space Center

Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO  successfully   launched Aditya L-1 satellite via  PSLV C57   from  Satish Dhawan Space Center  Sriharikota . With this, India has taken a step towards the mission of studying the Sun.  Aditya L- 1 will reach the Lagrange 1 point over a period of four months  where the gravitational forces of the Sun and Earth generate enhanced fields of attraction and repulsion. The objective of the Aditya L-1 mission   is to study the solar wind and the Sun’s atmosphere . The satellite will carry seven payloads  to observe   the photosphere, chromosphere and the outermost layers of the Sun i.e. the corona. Are. This will help in understanding the problems of coronal heating. The PSLV carrying the Aditya L-1 is the C57  XL variant  , with longer strap-on motors to carry larger amounts of fuel. The PSLV-XL variant   was also used to launch India’s first space astronomy observatory—AstroSat—  on  September 28, 2015 .

4 Pragyan Rover of Chandrayaan-3 completed all its tasks on the surface of the Moon. ISRO has disabled the rover for the time being.

Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO  said that  Pragyan Rover  has completed all its tasks on the lunar surface and has   been deactivated . Pragyan rover was taken to the Moon by Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft.  The rover covered a distance of more than 100 meters after landing on the lunar surface on August 23 . ISRO also said that  the next sunrise on the Moon will be on September 22. And the Pragyan Rover is expected to be successfully activated again for other operations. Earlier, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath said that Chandrayaan-3 mission’s rover Pragyan and lander Vikram are functioning fine and have been put into inactive mode after nightfall on the moon. The receiver is kept on. He said that Pragyan will successfully reactivate the rover for other tasks.

5 Indian-origin economist Tharman Shanmugaratnam registered a landslide victory in the presidential election in Singapore.

Indian-origin  economist and former senior minister  Tharman Shanmugaratnam  has   registered a landslide victory in the Singapore presidential election. Mr Thurman   won more than 70 per cent of the vote in the country’s first presidential election since 2011 . Sixty-six-year-old Tharman Shanmugaratnam served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore from 2011 to 2019. He joined politics in 2001. He also worked in the public sector and held the post of minister. Mr Tharman will be the third Indian-origin President of Singapore. Before this, Sellapan Ramanathan and Chengara Veetil Devan Nair of Indian origin have also become President.

6 Geetika Srivastava becomes India’s first woman in-charge in Pakistan

 Geetika Srivastava, currently  serving as Joint Secretary at the Headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA),   will be the new in-charge of India at  its High Commission in   Islamabad, Pakistan . She will replace Suresh Kumar, who is likely to return to New Delhi. After 77 years of independence,  India has appointed a woman chief of mission in Pakistan  .

7 NITI Aayog and UNDP sign MoU to accelerate Sustainable Development Goals

NITI Aayog  and  UNDP India  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  reiterating their mutual commitment to accelerate the achievement of  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . It aims to formalize a framework for cooperation in a number of areas including SDG localisation, data-driven monitoring, aspirational districts and blocks. 8 Former CJI NV Ramana appointed as member of International Mediator Panel

Former Chief Justice of India  N.V. Ramana  has   been appointed as a member of the International Mediators Panel  of  the Singapore International Mediation Center (SIMC) . SIMC Chairman George Lim presented the appointment letter to Judge Ramana in Singapore. The former Chief Justice is in Singapore to attend the “Singapore Convention Week” organized by the Cabinet of Singapore, an annual conference organized by the Singapore Ministry of Law, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and over 20 partner organisations.

10 Hundreds of flights canceled, schools and financial institutions closed due to severe storm Saola in Hong Kong and Chinese city Guangdong.

 Hundreds of flights were canceled and schools and financial institutions were closed as  Typhoon  Saola struck Hong Kong and the Chinese  city of  Guangdong . The Meteorological Department has issued a severe flood warning. The department has said that the water level may reach historical records. More than seven lakh eighty thousand people in Guangdong have been moved from high-risk areas to safer places.

11 In view of Typhoon Haikui in Taiwan, about 3 thousand people were evacuated to safe places.

 About 3,000 people have been evacuated to safer places in view of  Typhoon  Haikui in Taiwan . The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the southern and eastern parts of Taiwan. Typhoon Haikui is expected to make landfall in the remote southeastern mountainous regions of Taiwan. Taiwan’s two main domestic airlines – UNI Air and Mandarin Airlines – have canceled all their flights.

12. The Maharashtra government approved the name of the new railway station built between Thane and Airoli rail line as Digha Gaon railway station.

The Maharashtra government  has   approved  the name of the new railway station to be built between  Thane and Airoli rail line as Digha Gaon railway station . According to the notification of March-2023, the railway administration had named this station as Digha Railway Station, but lakhs of residents of Digha area had demanded to name it as Digha Village Railway Station. Earlier, MLA Ganesh Naik and former MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik had also written several request letters to the Central and State Government to name this station as Digha Gaon Railway Station. Accepting this demand, the state government approved it on 31 August.

13 Union Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala leads the eighth phase of Sagar Parikrama

Sagar Parikrama ” is an evolutionary journey envisaged in the coastal sector to   demonstrate solidarity among  all fishermen, fish farmers and other stakeholders , while also understanding and  identifying the ground challenges and problems faced by fishermen. The first part of Sagar Parikrama   commenced from Mandvi, Gujarat on 05 March 2022 (Sagar Parikrama-Phase I) and ended at  Vizhinjam, Kerala on 12 June 2023 (Sagar Parikrama-Phase VII)  covering major areas along the west coast of the country Done. The second part  of the Sagar Parikrama  aims to cover the eastern coast of the country, hence the  eighth leg of the Sagar Parikrama under the leadership of Union Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala at Vizhinjam in Kerala on 31st August 2023 resumed in 2016 and will continue to cover the country’s eastern coastal states in successive phases.

14 India’s GDP grew by 7.8% in the first quarter

The country’s GDP  stood at  7.8 percent  in  the April-June quarter .  Data related to the country’s GDP was released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation on August 31. The data shared shows that India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 7.8 percent for the first quarter of the current financial year i.e. April-June quarter. In the fourth quarter of the last financial year, the GDP growth rate was 6.1 percent. Let us tell you that the Reserve Bank of India had estimated the GDP growth rate to be 7.8 percent in the April-June quarter.

15 RBI authorizes Bandhan Bank to distribute civil pension

Bandhan Bank  said it has   been appointed  by  the Reserve Bank of India as the Authorized Pension Disbursing Bank on behalf of  the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO)   for  civil pensioners . The bank will soon work with the CPAO office of the Finance Ministry to operationalize the repayment process. Bandhan Bank got this right to distribute pension to Central Government employees in civil ministries/departments (other than Railways, Posts and Defence), National Capital Territory of Delhi, Union Territory Administration without Legislative Assemblies, retired judges of High Courts and the Supreme Court. gives the right to do so.

16 Tata Steel and ACME Group come together for India’s largest green hydrogen project worth Rs 27,000 crore in Odisha

Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL)  and  ACME Group  have   joined hands for  India’s largest green hydrogen project  worth Rs 27,000 crore  in  Odisha . The project   will be located in Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) . The project aims to provide “Make in India” green hydrogen and green ammonia to both domestic and international markets. This venture sets a positive precedent for India’s transition towards green energy options.

18 Russia will start  Islamic banking

Russia  to use banking for the first time  on  September 1 as part of a  two-year  pilot  program  is starting. The Muslim population in Russia is around 25 million. Islamic financial institutions already exist in Russia, but this is the first time that the country’s legislation has officially supported its launch. On August 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing Islamic banking to assess its feasibility. This pilot program will take place in four Muslim-majority republics – Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Chechnya and Dagestan. These four republics already have the most experience in Islamic finance. Islamic banking operates under Sharia. Transactions involving usury or charging interest are prohibited in the Islamic legal system because it is considered an unjust exchange. 21 India beat Pakistan to win the 5S Asia Cup men’s hockey tournament title

India beat Pakistan in the penalty shoot-out to lift the title  in   the final of  the Five-S Men’s Hockey Asia Cup  in  Salalah , Oman  . With this, the Indian team has also qualified for the FIH Five-S Men’s Hockey World Cup to be held in Oman next year. In the five-s version of hockey, India has defeated Pakistan for the first time in three matches. Pakistan could not score any goal in the shoot-out while Maninder Singh scored for India.
