1 Gwalior: ‘Taal Darbar’ program of Tansen Festival recorded in Guinness Records

1,282 Tabla players  participated in the Tal Darbar program  organized as part of  Tansen Samaroh  in  Gwalior  ,  Madhya Pradesh  for an unmatched performance  . This event has been recorded in the ” Guinness Book of World Records “. Prime Minister Narendra Modi  has congratulated all of them  .

2 Defense Minister inducts stealth guided missile destroyer INS Imphal into the Navy in Mumbai

INS Imphal , a  Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyer was commissioned into the Indian Navy  in the presence of  Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh  at a glittering ceremony held at  the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai . The event   marks the formal induction of the third of the four indigenous ‘Visakhapatnam’ class destroyers. It is   designed by  the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and  built by  Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai . BrahMos Aerospace  has installed BrahMos missile  on this ship  . Torpedo tube launchers   are from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) . The rapid gun mount   is installed by  Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) , and the medium range missiles  are installed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) . INS Imphal  has the unique distinction of being the first warship  to be named after  a city in the North-East ,  underscoring the importance and contribution of  the North-East region and Manipur to the nation and the Indian Navy. 

3 Prime Minister addressed the program organized on the occasion of ‘Veer Bal Diwas’

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  addressed  the program organized on the occasion of ‘ Veer Bal Diwas ‘  at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi . Mr Modi watched three singing and martial arts performances presented by children. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also flagged off the march-past of the youth in Delhi. To celebrate Veer Bal Diwas, the government   is organizing participatory programs across the country to inform and educate citizens, especially young children, about the story of  indomitable courage of the Sahibzadas .  On  January 9, 2022 , the day of Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji  , the Prime Minister had announced that  26 December  will be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to commemorate the martyrdom of Baba Zorawar Singh Ji  and  Baba Fateh Singh Ji,  sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh.  Will be celebrated.

4 Gelephu Smart City Project

Recently   the King of  Bhutan has announced plans to build  a huge ” International City ” over an area of ​​more than 1,000 sq km  on its border with  Assam . This project   is known as the Gelefu Project . It will be an “economic corridor connecting South Asia to South East Asia through the north-eastern states of India”. The city is expected to adhere to environmental standards and sustainable development as a goal and will aim to attract “quality investments” from “specially vetted” international companies. The project will involve “zero emission” industries and a “mindfulness city” that will establish Bhutan as a powerhouse in tourism and wellness, as well as infrastructure companies.

5 Selection of Vasudev Devnani as Speaker of Rajasthan Assembly

 An important development was seen in  the 16th Rajasthan Assembly when  veteran  BJP MLA Vasudev Devnani  was unanimously elected as the Speaker. The proposal for his appointment   was moved by  Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and seconded by Congress  leader and  Tonk MLA  Sachin Pilot  , marking a rare unity between the ruling party and the opposition.  Vasudev Devnani, representing  Ajmer North ,  has been a prominent personality of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the Vasundhara Raje-  led BJP governments  .

6 SEBI approves appointment of Pramod Agarwal as BSE Chairman

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has  given  its approval to the appointment  of   former  Coal India chief Pramod Agarwal  as the Chairman of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) . This regulatory approval paves the way for Agarwal to assume his role on the Governing Board of BSE, effective January 17, 2024. The move comes as the tenure of the current chairman, SS Mundra, ends on January 16, 2024.

7 SAANS campaign 2023-24 launched in Manipur for prevention of  pneumonia

 In a significant step  aimed at tackling childhood  pneumonia, Manipur  State Health and Family Welfare Minister  Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh  recently  inaugurated the SAANS Campaign 2023-24  in Imphal. Also, the Minister also dedicated the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) as the State Neonatal Resource Centre, emphasizing the state’s commitment to child health care. SAANS, which stands for Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia, is an annual campaign implemented across states and union territories. The primary objective of SAANS is to accelerate action against childhood pneumonia, a leading cause of child death.

8 Raghuram Rajan’s new book ‘Breaking the Mould: Reimagining India’s Economic Future’ released

 Former Governor of  the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) , Raghuram Rajan  ,  along with economist  Rohit Lamba, has released a ground-breaking book titled ‘ Breaking the Mould: Reimagining India’s Economic Future ‘. This latest addition to Rajan’s literary output marks a significant exploration into the possibilities and challenges of India’s economic trajectory. Known for his profound insights into the global and Indian economy, Raghuram Rajan has written influential books such as ‘ Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten the World Economy ‘, which won the Financial Times Business Book of the Year award. His other notable works include ‘ I Do What I Do: On Reform, Rhetoric and Resolve ‘ and ‘ Saving Capitalism from the Capitalists ‘, co-authored with Luigi Zingales.

10 RBI imposed fine on four cooperative banks of Gujarat

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  recently   took decisive action against  four cooperative banks  in  Gujarat and imposed monetary penalties on them for various non-compliances. Fines range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 7 lakh  , depending on the seriousness of the regulatory violation. The affected banks   include Progressive Mercantile Co-operative Bank LtdThe Kutch Mercantile Co-operative Bank LtdShri Morbi Nagrik Sahakari Bank Ltd  and  Bhabhar Vibhag Nagrik Co-operative Bank Ltd.
