  • Himachal Pradesh was the topper in achieving the target of 100 percent first dose of anti-corona vaccine across the country. Now this state has also becomethe first state to complete vaccination by completing the target of second dose of The Himachal Pradesh government will organize a massive program at the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences-AIIMS, Bilaspur to mark 100% second dose of anti-COVID vaccine to all eligible people in the state. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and local MP Anurag Singh Thakur, Bharatiya Janata Party National President Jagat Prakash Nadda and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will attend the event.

  • Ajaz Patel of New Zealand has created history by taking 10 wickets in a single innings in Test cricket . He has become the third bowler after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble to achieve this feat . Left-arm bowler Ejaz Patel dismissed all ten players in India’s first innings during the second Test between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Patel took 10 for 119 and bowled India out for 325. Patel achieved this feat in his birth place, Mumbai. He was born in Mumbai and his family moved to New Zealand at the age of eight.

  • Air travelers can use face scan as their boarding pass from 2022 . The first airports to start this facility are Kolkata, Pune, Varanasi and Vijayawada . This project will be implemented as part of Digi Yatra policy . This policy is being implemented by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Under this, the ministry aims to provide biometric based digital processing of passengers at airports. It helps the passengers to pass through the security scanner faster.

  • United Arab Emirates (UAE) by France with 80 Rafale fighters for 14 billion euros have signed the agreement. This is the largest ever international order for Rafale jets . The UAE and France recently signed a deal worth 17 billion euros. Under this deal, the UAE will buy 80 Rafale fighter jets and 12 Caracal military transport helicopters . The deal will support 7,000 jobs in France. Also, it will be Dassault Aviation till 2031.Will guarantee the supply chain of manufactured aircraft. United Arab Emirates’ rival Qatar recently bought 36 Rafale jets from France. The Rafale jets will replace the UAE’s Mirage 2000 fleet. The UAE is one of the largest customers of the French defense industry. Between 2011 and 2020, the UAE has purchased military equipment worth 4.7 billion euros from France. This has made the UAE the fifth largest arms customer of France.

  • The International Organization for Migration (IOM)of the United Nations launched its flagship publication World Migration Report 2022 , 11th edition . It states that global international migration has increased from 84 million globally in 1970 to 281 million in 2020, with the proportion of international migrants increasing from 2.3% of the global population to 3.6%. This 2022 report says that climate change has displaced more people than conflicts. The report facilitates regular data collection by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC).

  • The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the lending arm of the World Bank Group, has approved a USD 135 million loan to West Bengal (WB) to improve operational efficiency and reliability of power supply in selected areas in the state. . The variable spread loan or floating interest loan will have a maturity of 17 years, which includes a grace period of 7 years. It aims to strengthen the distribution network, invest in smart-grid technologies and ensure financial stability of state discoms (distribution companies).

  • Paytm signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General of Training (DGT) , Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship , to train 6000 individuals for 3 years in the FinTech industry . The trainees will undertake a six month program which has been designed by Paytm in consultation with DGT. This collaboration is part of DGT’s Flexible-MoU. The course equips trainees with the fundamentals of the latest fintech Internet of Things (IoT) products and financial services, as well as professional skills, communication, sales and pitch, and on-the-job training. After completion of the course Paytm will provide employment to the eligible trainees. DGT plays a vital role in vocational and craft based training of eligible youth in the country.

  1. OECD forecasts India’s growth rate to be 9.4% in FY22
  • The Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has lowered India’s growth forecast for fiscal year 2022 to 9.4% from 9.7% projected in September 2021 . The OECD has projected India’s growth rate to be 8.1% in FY2023 and 5% in FY2024, citing the Indian economy as medium. The OECD lowered its 2021 global growth forecast to 5.6% from 5.7% earlier. According to the OEC, low-skilled domestic migrants and urban workers, who suffered employment shocks in both waves of the pandemic in India, are yet to return to pre-pandemic levels in their earning levels.
