3.Defense procurement council approved the proposal of approximately one trillion rupees 60 billion for procurement of weapons according to military requirements :-

The Defense Purchase Council has approved proposals of nearly one trillion rupees 60 billion 35 million rupees. Capital purchase proposals were approved in the Council meeting held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. It has been stated in the release of the Ministry of Defense that the Council approved the proposal for purchase of light machine guns at an estimated cost of 18 billion 19 crores for the three services.

The Defense Purchase Council has also approved the purchase of seven lakh 40 thousand assault rifles for the three services. These rifles will be made in India under Buy and Make ie Buy and Make Border Category. They will be built in private sector and government Ordnance Factories. It is estimated to cost a trillion billion rupees. In addition to this, the approval for the purchase of five thousand seven hundred and 19 sniper rifles for the Army and the Air Force for Rs 9 billion 82 crore has also been approved.

Defense Purchase Council has also approved the purchase of advanced torpedo decou system to enhance the anti-submarine war potential of naval ships.
