1 India made a historic finish to its Asian Games campaign with 107 medals including 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze.

 In  the Hangzhou Asian Games  in China  , India is  at fourth position by winning a total of 107 medals   including  28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze  and this   is its best performance till date . On the 14th day of the Hangzhou Asian Games, India not only touched the magical figure of 100 medals but also broke all the old records and won one hundred and seven medals. For the first time in the history of Asian Games, India has scored a century of medals. With this the golden journey in these Asian Games ended. The country  got maximum 29 medals in athletics  . After this,  India won 22 medals in shooting  and  9 medals in archery  . India wins gold in men’s cricket Got a medal. The match was interrupted due to rain. When the match was stopped, Afghanistan had scored 112 runs for 5 wickets in the 19th over. After this the match was decided on the basis of ranking and India was given the gold medal. In the men’s Kabaddi final, India  won  the gold medal by defeating Iran, which was  considered a tough challenge.  India also  won the gold medal in women’s Kabaddi  by defeating Chinese Taipei .  In the final, India defeated Chinese Taipei by 26 points against 25 points in a thrilling match and won  the hundredth medal for the country. In badminton men  ‘s  doubles , the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy   have won   the gold medal .In archery, Jyoti Surekha Vennam  created an Asian Games record and   won  the gold medal  by defeating So Si of South Korea by a margin of 149-145 in the  women’s compound final.  In the final match of  men’s compound , Ojas Deotale  won   the gold medal  and  Abhishek Verma won the silver medal . Aditi  won  the first medal of the day in the form of bronze medal in  women’s compound archery  singles  . Deepak Punia  has   got silver medal in  86 kg weight category   of  men’s freestyle wrestling . Deepak was defeated by 3 time world champion  Hasan Yazdani in the final. Had to face defeat. In chess,  India   has won  silver medals in women’s and men’s team competition  . In women’s hockey,  India defeated Japan and   won the bronze medal .

2 Union Minister Parshottam Rupala and Dr. L. Murugan launches the ninth phase of Sagar Parikrama at Tondi port in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu

Murugan  launched the ninth phase  of   Sagar  Parikrama at  Tondi port  in  Ramanathapuram district   of  Tamil Nadu . Both the ministers also inaugurated the Manalamelkudi Fishermen Cooperative Society in Thanjavur district. On this occasion, Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan said the Sagar Parikrama scheme was started  in Gujarat six months ago  and its scope has been extended to all the coastal districts of the peninsular region. The ninth phase of this scheme will conclude in Chennai on Monday. In this scheme, information about various schemes and programs related to fisheries is given.

3 India will start mechanical ferry service from Nagapattinam to neighboring country Sri Lanka from 10th of this month.

 India will start mechanical ferry service from Nagapattinam (Tamil Nadu)  to   neighboring country  Sri Lanka from 10th of this month  . This ferry service   will reach Kankesanthurai port of Sri Lanka in 30 minutes . To start this service, the Central Government has excavated Nagapattinam Port at a cost of Rs 3 crore. To use this service, passengers  will have to pay six thousand five hundred rupees  as fare. The trials of this mechanical ferry service will be held on Sunday and Monday and the formal inauguration will be done on Tuesday.

To benefit 4 sugarcane farmers, GST on molasses was reduced from 28 percent to 5 percent, GST on flour along with 70 percent millet was reduced from zero to 5 percent.

The 52nd meeting  of  the Goods and Services Tax-GST Council  was held  in  New Delhi  under the chairmanship of  Union Finance Minister  Nirmala Sitharaman . The meeting was   also attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary along with Finance Ministers of States and Union Territories. The Finance Minister said that   apart from  the GST Appellate Tribunal, many important decisions  were taken in the meeting regarding GST rates on millet and molasses . He said that the Council has decided to   reduce GST on molasses from 28 percent to 5 percent  , which  will benefit the sugarcane farmers . The Finance Minister also said that If flour containing 70 percent millet is sold in the open, no GST will be levied on it . But if it is sold packed and labeled then 5 percent GST will be levied on it. Regarding the changes made in relation to the GST Appellate Tribunal, he said that  the maximum age limit of the Chairperson of the Tribunal will now be 70 years instead of 67 yearsThis age limit for members has been increased from 65 years to 67 years  . The minimum age limit for the post of President   has been kept at 50 years . Minimum experience of 10 years has been made mandatory for advocates appointed as judicial members in the tribunal.

Aditya Puri,   former managing director and CEO of  HDFC Bank  , has joined Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP as senior advisor . Deloitte said in a statement that Puri will use his expertise and experience to help drive technology-driven transformation in the financial services sector and initiatives aimed at promoting financial inclusion across India. Puri was appointed CEO of HDFC Bank in 1994 and retired after 26 years of service. Deloitte in June had announced the appointment of Manoj Kohli, former CEO of Bharti Airtel and SoftBank India, as senior advisor.

17 India re-elected as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) for the third consecutive term

19 Veteran Communist Party leader Anathalvattom Anandan passes away

Senior CPI(M)  leader and former MLA  Anathalvattom Anandan , who played a key role in building the trade union base for the party in the state   , died in a hospital. He was 86 years old. Anathalvattom Anandan   was born in 1937 in Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district. Anandan’s importance in the political scene of Kerala was primarily attributed to his role in building the trade union base for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) – CPI(M). His tireless efforts and dedication to the cause of the working class played an important role in strengthening the party’s presence in the state.
