3 Panel set up to recommend reforms in arbitration law
With a view to establish India as an international arbitration hub, the Government of India has constituted an expert panel . The objective of this panel set up by the Union Law Ministry is to recommend reforms in the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. The highly experienced former Law Secretary T.K. Viswanathan Experts are leading the panel. In addition, N. Venkataramani, Attorney General of India, is playing a key role as a member of the committee. Another prominent member is Rajeev Mani, serving as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Law. The panel also includes senior advocates, representatives from private law firms and officials from various departments such as Legislative Department, NITI Aayog, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Railways and Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

The multinational peacekeeping joint exercise “ X Khan Quest 2023 ” with the participation of military contingents and observers from over 20 countries has begun in Mongolia . The objective of the 14-day exercise is to enhance interoperability of the participating countries, share experiences and train uniformed personnel for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO).

Both cases highlight the importance of personal identity and the recognition that individuals have a right to a name that reflects their self-reflection. It saves them from social stigma. While the right to change one’s name is considered a fundamental right, it is not an absolute right and is subject to reasonable restrictions. The Allahabad High Court clarified that these restrictions should be fair, just and reasonable.
