1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils Statue of Equality in the memory of Sant Sri Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘ Statue of Equality ‘ in Munchital , Hyderabad . The 216-feet-tall statue belongs to the 11th-century Bhakti saint Ramanujacharya who emphasized equality in all aspects of life, including religion, caste and creed. The Prime Minister unveiled this unique statue of Sant Sri Ramanujacharya in connection with his centenary celebrations . This statue is made of five metals- gold, silver, copper, bronze and zinc . It is one of the tallest metal statues in the world in a sitting position . Statue of Equality 216 feet tall54 feet high base is installed on the building, which is called ‘ Bhadra Vedi ‘. The floors of the building are dedicated to a Vedic digital library and research centre, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery detailing the works of Sri Ramanujacharya.

2.Government of India appointed Sonali Singh as Controller General of Accounts (CGA) on additional charge

The Government of India has appointed Sonali Singh to hold the additional charge of Controller General of Accounts (CGA) under the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance with effect from February 01, 2022 . He has been appointed in place of Deepak Das , who retired on January 31, 2022. Sonali Singh is a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS). He is serving as Additional Controller General of Accounts since October 2019. Prior to this, he had also served as Additional Secretary in the Central Vigilance Commission.

The Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Gurugram , Haryana has been declared as India’s first Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measure (OECM) site. The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change gave this information on the occasion of World Wetlands Day . The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) gives the OECM tag to those areaslands that are not protected but support rich biodiversity. The tag designates the area as a biodiversity hotspot on the international map. OECM is the status of a place that has achieved effective in-situ conservation of biodiversity outside protected areas such as forests. The park, once an abandoned mining pit, transformed into a lush forest in 10 years. Now, it has about 400 native species of plants.

4.Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launches campaign for Cataract Free State

The unemployment rate in India fell sharply to 6.57% in January 2022 , according to data from the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) , an economic think-tank . This is the lowest rate seen since March 2021. In December 2021 , the unemployment rate rose to a four-month high of 7.91% , compared to 6.97% in November. CMIE is an independent non-governmental organization based in Mumbai that functions as both an economic think-tank as well as a business information company. Telangana recorded the lowest unemployment rate of 0.7% in January . It was followed by Gujarat at 1.2%, Meghalaya at 1.5%, Odisha at 1.8% and Karnataka at 2.9%. in Haryana in January 2022The highest unemployment rate was observed at 23.4%. It is followed by Rajasthan (18.9%) , Tripura (17.1%), Jammu and Kashmir (15%) and Delhi (14.1%). Sector-wise data showed that rural unemployment declined to 5.84 per cent in January 2022 from 7.28 per cent in December 2021. Urban unemployment was recorded at 8.16% as compared to 9.30% in December 2021.
