1 Indian-American policy expert Nisha Biswal has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the International Development Finance Corporation of America.

Indian-American  policy expert  Nisha Biswal   has become the Deputy Chief Executive Officer  of  the US International Development Finance Corporation-(USIDFC) . The US Senate confirmed Ms. Biswal’s appointment. The White House press release said that the President  Joe Biden Earlier in March this year, had announced the nomination of Ms. Nisha Desai Biswal to the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the International Development Finance Corporation of America. Ms. Biswal has worked in the US Foreign Policy and International Development Program, the US Congress and in the private sector and brings more than thirty years of experience. Ms. Biswal currently serves as Senior Vice President at the US Chamber of Commerce and oversees international strategy and global initiatives for the US-India Business Council and the US-Bangladesh Business Council.

2 Indian-American Harsh Vardhan Singh becomes the third Indian-American to compete for the Republican Party nomination for the 2024 US presidential race

Indian-American  engineer  Harsh Vardhan  Singh   has become the third candidate of  the Republican Party  for  the presidential election to be held in America  next year  . Nikki Haley,  former governor of  the province of South Carolina  and industrialist  Vivek Ramaswamy Has already expressed his desire to be nominated for this post by the Republican Party. Mr. Singh said on Twitter on Thursday that he has been a life-long supporter of the Republican Party and has played a key role in rebuilding the Republican Party in New Jersey since 2017. Shri Singh is an executive from the Defense and Aviation industries. In the year 2020, he lost the election of the US Parliament. This is the fourth time he is contesting for the parliamentary elections. According to recent polls in the US, Trump has the support of 59 percent of voters.

3 Texas governor sued over installation of floating barriers in Rio Grande River

In a recent legal development,  the US Department of Justice  sued  the state of Texas  and its governor,  Greg Abbott , over the installation of  floating barriers   in  the Rio Grande River. Have taken legal action against. The 3,051 km long Rio Grande River serves as a natural border between the US and Mexico, mainly in Texas. In response to a significant influx of migrants attempting to cross the river into the US, Texas officials launched a controversial initiative – installing floating barriers to prevent illegal crossings. The US Department of Justice argues that Texas violated federal law by building structures in the Rio Grande River without proper authorization, thereby obstructing US waters. In response to this alleged violation, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the state, seeking removal of the barriers at Texas’ expense.

4 ISRO successfully launches 7 Singapore satellites on PSLV-C56 rocket from Sriharikota

Indian Space Research Organisation- ISRO  Chairman  S. Somnath  has   congratulated all satellite manufacturing institutions for placing faith in India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle – PSLV  for the purpose of launching  seven satellites of Singapore . ISRO launches   seven satellites including  DS-SAR satellite of Singapore  in  Andhra Pradesh from Singapore at Sriharikota Successfully launched from The launch was carried out from the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle – PSLV C56 in core alone mode. The DS-SAR satellite is a commercial mission of New Space India Limited, Singapore. Israel’s Synthetic Aperture Radar payload has been used in this satellite. Due to this, high quality pictures can be obtained even in bad weather and at night. Six other satellites launched are also from Singapore. This is the 17th flight of PSLV in core alone mode.

6 PM-Divine Plan

Recently,  the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region  has  launched  Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (  PM-DevINE).) has been updated. The PM-Divine scheme as a Central Sector Scheme was introduced as part of the Union Budget 2022-23. The Cabinet approved the PM-Divine scheme on October 12, 2022. It is 100% funded by the central government, ensuring that resources are directly allocated to development initiatives. The scheme will be implemented by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. The scheme received an initial allocation of Rs 1500 crore in the Union Budget 2022-23. The total outlay of the scheme over a period of 4 years from 2022-23 to 2025-26, which is aligned with the remaining years of the 15th Finance Commission term, is 6, 600 crores is Rs. A state-wise and project-wise list of projects sanctioned during the financial year 2022-23 has been prepared in which each project has been designed to meet the specific needs of the respective states.

7 Ratan Tata will get Maharashtra’s first ‘Udyog Ratna’ award

Maharashtra  government  has decided to confer  the first ‘ Udyog Ratna ‘ award on veteran industrialist and  Chairman Emeritus of  Tata Sons Ratan Tata , State Industries Minister  Uday Samant  said  . Samant announced in the State Legislative Council on Thursday that awards would also be given to young entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs and Marathi entrepreneurs.

8 Banks get ₹5,729 crore from Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund to settle 8 unclaimed deposits

Unclaimed deposits have been a constant concern  in  the banking sector  , prompting regulatory bodies to take proactive steps to protect consumer interests. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  set up the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund scheme in 2014   to address this issue  . Over the past five years, significant amounts of money have been transferred from the DEA Fund to banks for the return of unclaimed deposits, ensuring that the rightful claimants receive their dues.

9 Russia bans sex change and transgender marriage

Russian President Vladimir Putin  has   signed a law in a major blow to the LGBTQ community .  In which people are banned from undergoing sex reassignment surgery to medically change their sex  . In Russia, both houses of parliament unanimously passed the act, which bans medical interventions aimed at changing a person’s sex, and the change of sex in official documents, reports The Guardian. The ban has been imposed.

10 The number of tigers in India is estimated to be 3 thousand 9 hundred 25 with an annual increase of six point one percent.

The population of tigers in India   is estimated to be  3 thousand 925  with an annual growth rate of  6.1 percent . On the occasion of World Tiger Day, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwani Kumar released a report. Last year, on the occasion of completion of 50 years of Project Tiger in Mysore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the minimum population of tigers at 3 thousand 167. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has said that according to the data collected by the Wildlife Institute of India, the tiger population has increased at the rate of 6.1 per cent per year. India currently accounts for about 75 percent of the tiger population.

12 Delhi Book Fair begins at Pragati Maidan in the capital Delhi

The five-day  long  twenty-seventh Delhi Book Fair  has begun  at Pragati Maidan in  the capital Delhi . Publications department is also participating in this fair which will continue till 2nd August. The theme of this book fair is ‘ Books in Nation Building’‘ Is. The Fair will display a diverse collection of books and periodicals at Stall No. 12, Hall No. 11. It will include several books on the Indian freedom struggle, biographies of various personalities and Indian culture. 13 Algeria has applied to join the BRICS group.

Algeria wants to join the BRICS grouping   to open up new economic opportunities  , for which it has also applied. Algeria has   also requested to become a shareholder member of  the BRICS Bank with an amount of US$ 1.5 billion for this. 15 Kerala Governor releases Malayalam translation of Krishna – the 7th Sense

Kerala  Governor  Arif Mohammed Khan  released   the book Krishna –  The 7th Sense written by Debasish Chatterjee ,  Director,  IIM  -Kozhikode Malayalam translation released. 16 CAIT and META expand ‘WhatsApp to Business’ partnership

American company Meta  said  on 24 July 2023  that it is expanding the ‘ Business with WhatsApp ‘ initiative. Veteran tech company  Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Will together make 1 crore public traders digital. CAIT and the instant messaging platform owned by global tech company Meta will work under the partnership. Together they will digitally train and skill 1 crore local traders in the country.
