1.Covid vaccination for children of 15 to 18 years will start from January 3
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation. The Prime Minister announced that from Monday, January 3, 2022, vaccination will start for children in the age group of 15-18 years . The move is likely to help bring the education system back to normalcy in schools and will ease the worries of parents of school going children. He also announced a precautionary dose for healthcare and frontline personnel from Monday, January 10, 2022 . Frontline personnel and health care workers are engaged in serving the COVID patients. The third dose in India is not a booster dose but a ‘precautionary dose’Having said. The decision on the precautionary dosage will strengthen the confidence of the healthcare and frontline personnel. The Prime Minister also announced that from January 10, 2022, the option of taking a precautionary dose would be available to senior citizens above 60 years of age with co-morbidities on the advice of doctors. He said that the first dose has been administered to about 90 percent of the eligible population and both the doses to more than 61 percent of the population . He said that the world’s first DNA. Vaccine, Nasal Vaccine will soon be available in India.
2.Defense Minister Rajnath Singh lays foundation stone of DRDO’s Defense Technology Testing Center and BrahMos Manufacturing Center in Lucknow
Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of Defense Technology and Testing Center and BrahMos Manufacturing Center set up by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) at Lucknow , Uttar Pradesh on December 26, 2021 . The foundation stone of both these units was laid in the presence of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath . A first of its kind Defense Technology and Testing Center (DTTC) spread over 22 acres is being set up in the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor (UP DIC) to accelerate the development of defense and aerospace manufacturing clusters. This will include the following six sub-centres :
- Deep-Tech Innovation and Startup Incubation Center
- Design and Simulation Center
- Testing and Evaluation Center
- Industry 4.0/Digital Manufacturing Center
- skill development center
- business development center
The BrahMos Manufacturing Center, announced by BrahMos Aerospace, is a state-of-the-art facility at the Lucknow node of UP DIC. It will cover an area of over 200 acres and will produce the new BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) variant , which will carry forward the BrahMos weapon system. This new facility will be ready in the next two to three years and will start production at the rate of 80-100 BrahMos-NG missiles per year.
3.Uttar Pradesh government started distribution of tablets and smart phones to one crore students
The Uttar Pradesh government started giving tablets and smart phones to one crore students on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee . The world’s largest and most powerful space telescope has been successfully placed in orbit to make important discoveries on the origins of Earth-like planets in the universe and beyond the Solar System. NASA ‘s major space observatory launched the James Webb Space Telescope on Christmas Daylaunched. The Webb telescope will reach its destination in solar orbit, about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, about four times as far from the Moon. It will trace origins from stars and planets to the origins of the first galaxies in the early universe. It will also know what the universe looked like at the time of its origin, about 14 billion years ago. Webb is named after one of the architect scientists of the Apollo moon landings. Jointly built by NASA and the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency, this telescope is a hundred times more powerful.
6.Bharat Biotech’s covaccine gets emergency use in children aged 12 to 18
Bharat Biotech ‘s Kovid Vaccine Co -Vaccine has been approved for emergency use in children aged 12 to 18 years . Bharat Biotech said that the co-vaccine has been designed in such a way that it can be administered in the same dosage in adults and children. Bharat Biotech said that the co-vaccine has proven to be safe and effective in adults for the original corona variant and the latter variant. The company said that it has been proven safe for children in its safety and immunity data studies.
7.RBI extends the deadline for complying with card information storage rules by 6 months
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently extended the deadline for complying with the card information storage rules by another 6 months . This deadline was extended as merchants and payment companies expressed their inability to comply with the December 31 deadline. The RBI took this decision as industry bodies had requested the central bank to extend the deadline from December 31, highlighting several challenges in implementing the new guidelines. Moreover, merchants and banks were not ready to switch to the new system in the stipulated time. RBI had issued new guidelines in September 2021. Under these guidelines, merchants will not be able to store customer card data on their servers. This prohibited merchants from storing card storage and as an alternativeDriven to adopt Card-on-File (CoF) tokenization . The new rule was to come into effect from January 1, 2022. As per the new RBI directive on tokenization, the customer has to enter the complete card details every time he makes an online payment.
8.INS Khukri decommissioned after 32 years of service
India’s first indigenously built missile corvette INS Khukri (P49) was decommissioned after 32 years of service at Visakhapatnam on December 24, 2021. During the decommissioning ceremony, the national flag, decommissioning pennant and naval flag were lowered at sunset. INS Khukri was commissioned by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders on 23 August 1989. It had the distinction of being part of the Western and Eastern Fleets . It covered a total distance of over 6,44,897 nautical miles.
9.Safety of offshore assets reviewed at Visakhapatnam, AP during Exercise ‘Prasanthan’
The security of the Offshore Development Area (ODA) in the Krishna Godavari Basin on the east coast of India at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP) was reviewed during the exercise departure . This biennial exercise was coordinated and controlled by NOIC (Naval Officer-in-Charge) (APD) from Joint Operations Center (JOC) Visakhapatnam under the aegis of Indian Navy.
10.Defense Minister Rajnath Singh unveils indigenous multi-terrain artillery gun 155-BR
In line with the Government’s Make-in-India and Self – reliant India mission , Union Minister Rajnath Singh , Ministry of Defense (MoD) unveiled the indigenously made Multi-Terrain Artillery Gun (MARG 155)-BR . It is the only 155mm 39 caliber gun system installed on a 4×4 HMV (High Mobility Vehicle) in the world. It was unveiled in the presence of Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Manoj Mukund Naravane . It has been developed by Pune (Maharashtra) based Indian MNC (multinational company) Bharat Forge Limited .

Wayana Network , one of India’s largest trade finance platforms and Federal Bank , a leading private sector bank have been awarded ‘ Most Effective Bank-Fintech Partnership: Agile and Adaptable ‘ at the IBSi-Global Fintech Innovation Awards 2021 . 13.Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu passes away
Akbishop Desmond Tutu , the Nobel Peace Prize winner who helped end apartheid in South Africa , has died. He was 90 years old. He was a contemporary of Nelson Mandela , a symbol of anti-apartheid anti-apartheid . He was instrumental in the movement to end the racial discrimination policy implemented by the white minority government against the black majority in South Africa from 1948 to 1991. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
