1.Women’s World Cup: India beats Sri Lanka by 16 runs :-

India took a giant stride towards clinching a semi-final spot with another convincing 16-run victory over Sri Lanka in a one-sided ICC Women’s World Cup encounter on Wednesday.

The Indian players also maintained a clean slate against their sub-continental neighbours since the 2013 World Cup, having never lost a single ODI in all meetings.

 

2.Multiple Banking System for EPFO contribution and payments by Signing of Agreement between EPFO and Public & Private Sector Banks  :-

In keeping with the Government’s mandate for facilitating ‘Ease of doing business’, EPFO has taken a step further.

In the august presence of Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour & Employment, EPFO has entered into agreement for collection of EPF dues from employers and payment to beneficiaries as well through multiple-banks in place of erstwhile single banking system here today.

Collections of EPF dues have been started with PNB, Allahabad Bank, Indian Bank, Union Bank of India in addition to State Bank of India through direct online mode.

 

3.EPFO adds banks to network :-

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Wednesday signed an agreement with four private banks and Bank of Baroda for collection of provident fund dues from employers and payments to its subscribers.

 

4.Air India may not be debt-free before sale :-

The Centre may not takeover all of Air India’s ₹52,000 crore debt as part of the airline’s strategic disinvestment process and private players eyeing the national carrier are likely to be saddled with some of its outstanding loans, according to a top official at the civil aviation ministry.

“A portion of the working capital loan will be transferred to the private player which is essential in running the airline’s daily operations,” the civil aviation ministry official, who did not wish to be identified, said.

 

5.MERIT app and e-Bidding portal for utilization of domestic coal in IPP Power Stations for reducing the cost of power generation launched :-

Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Shri Piyush Goyal launched here today the ‘MERIT app (Merit Order Despatch of Electricity for Rejuvenation of Income and Transparency)’ and the e-bidding portal for providing e-Bidding solution to States to select Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for procurement of power by transferring their domestic coal under the scheme of flexibility in utilization of domestic coal.

 

6.People of Indian origin in Israel to get OCI card: Modi :-

Indian-Israelis are a “human bridge” between the two countries, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as he and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi addressed a gathering of about 5,000 Israelis of Indian origin at a convention centre in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, where Mr.

Modi promised a new Air India flight connecting both countries.

 

7.China offers alternative route to Mansarovar :-

China on Wednesday said it was considering an alternative route for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims.

The Embassy of China here said Beijing respected the religious practices of India but reiterated that China stopped pilgrimage flow through the Nathu La pass after Indian troops crossed into the Chinese territory and stopped construction works.

 

8.India, Israel to set up $40 mn research fund :-

India and Israel announced a strategic partnership between the two countries after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, and signed seven agreements in the fields of water, agriculture, space, including a $40 million joint fund for research and development in innovation.
