3.Karnataka and Ather Energy sign MoU to set up 1000 fast-charging stations for electric 2-wheelers

The Government of Karnataka and Ather Energy and Electric Supply Company (ESCOM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up 1000 fast-charging stations for electric 2-wheelers . Ather Energy will provide free charging services for Electric Vehicle (EV) two-wheelers . The MoU was signed by Tarun Mehta, Managing Director, CEO, Co-Founder of Ather Energy and Rajendra Cholan, Managing Director, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) at the Office of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). ESCOM will be the nodal agency for providing technical support and government agencies will coordinate with ESCOM to share their available space for charging stations.

4.Rahul Gandhi launches financial assistance scheme for landless laborers in Chhattisgarh

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched the Chhattisgarh government’s financial assistance scheme ” Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana ” for the landless laborers of rural areas of Chhattisgarh . This is the first scheme of its kind in India for which the state government had made a provision of Rs 200 crore in the budget for the financial year 2021-22. The scheme was launched during a function organized at Science College Ground in Raipur, Chhattisgarh during his visit to Chhattisgarh. He inaugurated the “ Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club Scheme ” at the function.and provided financial assistance of Rs 25000 to its beneficiaries. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana, the registered laborers in rural areas, who do not have agricultural land, will be provided financial assistance of Rs 6000 per year in 3 installments. Around 3.55 lakh beneficiaries of the scheme received Rs 2,000 in their bank accounts as the first installment under the scheme. The objective of the scheme of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club is to connect the youth of Chhattisgarh with creative work, develop leadership skills and make them aware of their social responsibilities. Under the scheme, 13,269 clubs will be formed in panchayats and urban bodies. Youth in the age group of 15 to 40 years will participate in these clubs.

5.Tamil Nadu passes bill against NEET

The Tamil Nadu Anti-NEET Bill was passed by the state assembly in September 2021. The bill seeks to do away with the requirement of NEET for medical courses in the state. The Central Government had made the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test mandatory for all the students of the country. This bill was passed in opposition to this requirement. The Governor of Tamil Nadu recently returned the bill to the Speaker of the Assembly, saying that this bill is against the interest of the students. According to the governor, this bill will affect the interests of the students of rural areas. He has also cited the Supreme Court’s decision in support of his argument. According to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Christian Medical College case, cancellation of NEET in Tamil Nadu will result in economic exploitation of poor students.
