1.India’s voice nightingale Lata Mangeshkar is no more
Music queen Lata Mangeshkar passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. 92-year-old Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the hospital on January 8 after suffering from corona infection and pneumonia. Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28 September 1929 in Indore to Marathi and Konkani musician Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar . Her original name was Hema . She was the eldest of five siblings including veteran singer Asha Bhosle . His father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar was a classical singer and theater actor. Lata Mangeshkar recorded her first playback song at the age of 13 for a Marathi film , ‘ Kiti Hasal ‘, and in the year 1942 for a Marathi film, ‘ Pahili Mangalagore ‘.‘ also acted in In the year 1946, he recorded his first Hindi film playback song for ‘Aap Ki Seva Mein’ directed by Vasant Joglekar . In 1972, Lata Mangeshkar won her first National Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film ‘ Parichay ‘. Over the years, he has won several national and international awards. It includes the prestigious Bharat Ratna , Officer of the French Legion of Honour , Dadasaheb Phalke Award , three National Film Awards ., four Filmfare Best Playback Singer Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and many other awards. In 1984, the state government of Madhya Pradesh instituted the Lata Mangeshkar Award, the Maharashtra government also announced the Lata Mangeshkar Award in 1992 to promote singing talent. Lata ji has sung film and non-film songs in more than thirty languages but her main identity has been as a playback singer in Indian cinema. He was decorated with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award in the year 2001. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi have condoled the death of Swara Kokila Lata Mangeshkar. The Central Government has decided to observe two days of state mourning in honor of Lata Mangeshkar. During this, the national flag will be hoisted across the country and there will be no entertainment programs.

3.Karnataka and Ather Energy sign MoU to set up 1000 fast-charging stations for electric 2-wheelers
The Government of Karnataka and Ather Energy and Electric Supply Company (ESCOM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up 1000 fast-charging stations for electric 2-wheelers . Ather Energy will provide free charging services for Electric Vehicle (EV) two-wheelers . The MoU was signed by Tarun Mehta, Managing Director, CEO, Co-Founder of Ather Energy and Rajendra Cholan, Managing Director, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) at the Office of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). ESCOM will be the nodal agency for providing technical support and government agencies will coordinate with ESCOM to share their available space for charging stations.
4.Rahul Gandhi launches financial assistance scheme for landless laborers in Chhattisgarh
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched the Chhattisgarh government’s financial assistance scheme ” Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana ” for the landless laborers of rural areas of Chhattisgarh . This is the first scheme of its kind in India for which the state government had made a provision of Rs 200 crore in the budget for the financial year 2021-22. The scheme was launched during a function organized at Science College Ground in Raipur, Chhattisgarh during his visit to Chhattisgarh. He inaugurated the “ Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club Scheme ” at the function.and provided financial assistance of Rs 25000 to its beneficiaries. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana, the registered laborers in rural areas, who do not have agricultural land, will be provided financial assistance of Rs 6000 per year in 3 installments. Around 3.55 lakh beneficiaries of the scheme received Rs 2,000 in their bank accounts as the first installment under the scheme. The objective of the scheme of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club is to connect the youth of Chhattisgarh with creative work, develop leadership skills and make them aware of their social responsibilities. Under the scheme, 13,269 clubs will be formed in panchayats and urban bodies. Youth in the age group of 15 to 40 years will participate in these clubs.
5.Tamil Nadu passes bill against NEET
The Tamil Nadu Anti-NEET Bill was passed by the state assembly in September 2021. The bill seeks to do away with the requirement of NEET for medical courses in the state. The Central Government had made the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test mandatory for all the students of the country. This bill was passed in opposition to this requirement. The Governor of Tamil Nadu recently returned the bill to the Speaker of the Assembly, saying that this bill is against the interest of the students. According to the governor, this bill will affect the interests of the students of rural areas. He has also cited the Supreme Court’s decision in support of his argument. According to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Christian Medical College case, cancellation of NEET in Tamil Nadu will result in economic exploitation of poor students.

7.Rahul Bhatia appointed as the new Managing Director of IndiGo
Low-cost Indian airline, IndiGo has appointed its co-founder and promoter Rahul Bhatia as the Managing Director (MD) of the company with immediate effect. He is the first MD of IndiGo, as the company had no managing director before that. Ronojoy Dutta is the CEO of IndiGo. The Board of Directors during its meeting unanimously approved the appointment of Bhatia as Managing Director with immediate effect, subject to the approval of the shareholders. IndiGo is back in the black with a net profit of Rs 130 crore for the December quarter. The profit comes after the airline posted losses for a series of consecutive quarters.
8.NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg to head Norway’s central bank
The head of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) , Jens Stoltenberg , will take over as governor of Norway ‘s central bank at the end of the year . 10.PNB and Patanjali launch contactless credit cards in partnership with NPCI
Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Patanjali Ayurved Limited (PAL) in partnership with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have launched two co-branded contactless credit cards namely PNB RuPay Platinum and PNB RuPay Select . These will be offered on NPCI’s RuPay platform. Contactless credit cards have an embedded chip that allows you to conduct transactions by placing your card within a few inches of PoS terminals.

13.Government carried out switch operation of Rs 1,19,701 crore
The Government of India (GOI) has entered into a conversion switch transaction of its securities with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at Rs 1,19,701 crore (face value) on January 28, 2022.done on the amount. The Government of India, along with the Reserve Bank of India, undertakes transfer actions for the development of the market along with facilitating the liability profile with the market participants. The transaction included buy back securities maturing in FY 2022-23, FY 2023-24 and FY 2024-25 from RBI and issue new securities for equivalent market value to make the transaction cash neutral. The transactions were done using Financial Benchmark India Private Limited (FBIL) prices as of January 28, 2022. Switch transactions are done for the purpose of facilitating the liabilities (money) that should be paid by the banks to the person or organization using Financial Benchmarks India Pvt Ltd.

Former Greek President Christos Sartjetakis passed away at the age of 92 in Athens, Greece due to respiratory failure. Christos Saratjetakis was born on 6 April 1929 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He was a Greek jurist and Supreme Court judge who opposed the extremists during the rule of colonels from 1967–1974. He served as the President of Greece for a four-year term (1985 to 1990), after being nominated by the socialist Pasok party.
