1.PM Modi arrives in Nepal to attend ‘BIMSTEC’ summit, talks on terrorism issue :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Nepal on a two-day visit. They will be joining the 14th BIMSTEC Summit here. This conference is being organized in Nepal’s Kathmandu. PM Modi will talk on all issues in the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) meeting. Terrorism in the summit, various dimensions of security, drug trafficking, cyber crime, including business will be discussed on various issues. Also, emphasis will be on strengthening mutual cooperation.

 

2.From September 1, the people of the village will take advantage of banking facilities through postmen :-

From the first date of the next month, the poor and the backward living in the rural areas of the country will also be able to avail the banking facilities through postmen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the services of India Post Payment Bank with 650 branches and 3250 Access Point. The government approved the proposal for commissioning rural post offices working under this service and an increase of Rs 635 crore in the cost of India Post Payment Bank.

 

3.Union Human Resource Development Minister launched the third edition of ‘Smart India Hackathon -2019’ of the world’s largest open innovation model :-

First time, it will also send their problem details to students under private industry / organization and non-government organization SIH-2015.

Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javadekar launched the third edition of ‘Smart India Hackathon -2019’ in New Delhi, the world’s largest open innovation model.

Human Resource Development Ministry, AICTE, Persistent Systems and I-4C have come together to create hat-tricks with their highly popular and innovative ‘Smart India Hackathon’ initiative (SIH). SIH-2019 is a nationwide initiative for providing a platform for students to solve some of the serious problems that arise in our lives. It develops the mindset of innovation and problem solving.

In his address on this occasion, the Minister said that in this new edition of SIF-2019, more than one lakh students will get an opportunity to work on the challenges faced by the public sector organizations and central ministries, with around 3000 institutions. In this, the problem-details of industries and NGOs will also be included for the first time.

 

4.Satya S Tripathi was appointed Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Environment Program – New York Office of UNEP :-

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutresus, India’s well-known development-economist Satya S. Tripathi has been appointed the UN General Secretary and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) head of the New York office. They will replace Eliot Harris of Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Tripathi has been working as a Senior Consultant on the sustainable development agenda of 2030 in the UNEP since 2017.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations told the reporters at the United Nations headquarters that Shri Tripathi, who has been a experience economist and lawyer for more than 35 years, has been working in the United States since 1998, in Asia and Africa.

 

5.The Cabinet approved the MoU for cooperation in the fields of animal husbandry, dairy industry and fisheries between India and Britain and Northern Ireland :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the MoU for cooperation in the fields of animal husbandry, dairy industry and fisheries between India and Britain and Northern Ireland. Signing of MoU on 17.04.2018 were done.

The objective of the Memorandum of Understanding is to develop bilateral cooperation in the areas of animal husbandry, dairy industry and fishery for the purpose of increasing the production and productivity of Indian cattle and fisheries.

 

6.Cabinet approval for agreement of air services between India and Morocco :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has given permission for signing of a revised agreement between India and Morocco for air services. With the new agreement being effective, the existing agreement in December 2004 will be automatically neutralized.

Benefit : The new agreement will prove to be the milestone of collaboration between India and Morocco in the field of civil aviation. This will boost business investment , tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries . This agreement will ensure comprehensive safety and security and will provide business opportunities for the airlines of both countries and also create friendly environment for seamless air connectivity.

 

7.The Cabinet approved additional 2 percent in Dearness Relief (DR) for Dearness Allowance (DA) and Pensioners for Central Government employees, effective from 01 July, 2018 :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DR) for Dearness Allowance (DA) and Pensioners for the Central Government employees to compensate for the increase in the value added, which is the basic salary / pension Represents an increase of 2 percent in the current rate of 7 percent. This will be effective from 01.07.2018.

The combined effect of dearness allowance and inflation relief on the treasury would be Rs. 6112.20 crores and Rs. 4074.80 crores in the financial year 2018-19 (for the period of 8 months from July 2018 to February 2019).

 

8.NMCG approves projects worth Rs.150 crores for cleanliness of Ganga river  :-

In the fifth meeting of Executive Committee of the National Ganges Sanitation Campaign in New Delhi, the committee has given Rs 150 crore for Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. The projects approved by Namami Ganga Program are approved. In these projects, small rivers, canals and drains are included in the main river to stop and bend, and will be diverted to sewage decontamination units so that the water falling in the main river is completely clean and free of dirt. Projects include the development of sewage cleaning units and ghats.

 

9.NASA Trainee astronaut Rob Cullin resigns :-

An American Space Agency NASA resident has resigned from its training course for the first time in five decades. Agency spokesman Brandy Dean said that Mr. Rob Cullin has left the training program for personal reasons. He said that the resignation will be applicable from August 31.

About 18,000 people apply only for 12 seats each year. He is the first trainee astronaut who left the training program after 1968.

 

10.First meeting of SAARC Agricultural Cooperative Business Forum begins in Kathmandu :-

South Asian Regional Cooperation Organization – The first meeting of the SAARC Agricultural Cooperative Business Forum began in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The theme of this three-day meeting- Organize and strengthen the families of farmers. The theme of this meeting is to organize and strengthen the families of farmers. Through this, Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2 will be achieved in South Asian Region. The United Nations Composite and Agricultural Organization and the Asian Agricultural Union have organized it in collaboration with the International Agricultural Development Fund.

 

11.Cabinet approves revised cost estimation for establishment of Indian postal payment bank :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the amendment to increase the project cost from Rs 800 crore to Rs 1,435 crore for the establishment of the Indian Postal Payment Bank (IPPB). Out of the total amount of Rs 635 crore in revised cost estimates, Rs 400 crore will be spent on technology expenditure and Rs 235 crore for human resources expenditure.

 

12.Return of 99.30% of the amount of money which was made invalid during the note-taking system: RBI report :-

The currency which has been declined after the note-bond has almost returned to the system of the Reserve Bank. This is said in the central bank’s annual report for the financial year 2017-18. Significantly, the ban was announced on November 8, 2016, after which the notes of 500 and 1000 rupees had been negated since 9th November. This was 86 percent of the currency in the market at that time.

In its annual report for the financial year 2017-18, the RBI said that the processing of the invalid notes of 500 and 1000 rupees has been completed and about 99.30% of the invalid notes have returned to the system. The total value of the illegal notes was Rs 15.42 lakh crores till November 8, 2016 (on the announcement of the ban on the day of the ban on the day) and of these 15.31 lakh crores have returned to the RBI system.
