1. All India Institute of Medical Sciences of Bilaspur will be known as Green AIIMS

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bilaspur , Himachal Pradesh . Shri Modi had laid the foundation stone of this hospital in October 2017 under the Central Scheme of Prime Minister’s Health Protection . Shri Modi mentioned that with the establishment of AIIMS in Bilaspur, people of Himachal will get affordable medical facilities. This institute is also environment friendly and is called Green AIIMS .will be known as AIIMS Bilaspur has been constructed at a cost of more than one thousand four hundred and seventy crore rupees. It is a state-of-the-art hospital with 750 beds with 18 specialty and 17 super specialty departments, 18 modular operation theaters and 64 ICU beds. There is also Amrit Pharmacy, Jan Aushadhi Kendra and 30 bedded AYUSH Block. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Government Water Engineering College at Bandla , Bilaspur, built at a cost of one hundred and forty crore rupees . He also laid the foundation stone of Medical Equipment Park at Nalagarh and four lane road project from Pinjore to Nalagarh .

2. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be jointly awarded to three scientists for their effective research into the treatment of cancer.

This year ‘s Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded jointly to Caroline Bertozzi , Morton Medel and Barry Sharpless . He has been given this award for his work on the breakdown of molecules (snipping of molecules together) . This process is known as click chemistry . “Click” chemistry is about linking molecules together, like in living cells. Their work is used to locate cells and monitor biological processes. Its use in cancer treatment drugscan be done. Caroline Bertozzi and Barry Sharpless of the United States, and Morten Meldl, a Danish scientist, were noted for their work on click chemistry and bioorthogonal reactions. They are used to make cancer drugs, to map DNA, and to create materials for specific purposes. Eighty-year-old Sharpless , who won the Nobel Prize in 2001, has now become the fifth person to receive the award twice . Sixty-eight-year-old Meldal is working at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He is currently associated with Scripps Research, California.

3. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel wins Nansen Prize

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently received the Nansen Refugee Award . Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel received the UNHCR Nansen Prize for providing asylum for refugees while in office . In 2015 and 2016, when Merkel was chancellor, Germany welcomed more than 1.2 million refugees and asylum seekers, especially from Syria. UNHCR recognized Merkel’s determination to protect asylum seekers, helping them survive and rebuild after facing war. The Nansen Prizes will be presented to Merkel and other winners at a ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 10, 2022. While Merkel will receive a cash prize of USD 150,000, the regional winners will receive USD 50,000 each.

4. India becomes the largest producer of sugar in the world

India is the largest producer and second largest exporter of sugar in the worldhas been made. During the sugar season of 2021-22, more than 5 thousand lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane has been produced in the country. Out of this, 35 lakh metric tonnes were used for making ethanol, while sugar mills produced three hundred and sixty nine lakh metric tonnes of sugar. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has said that the current season has proved to be a historic one for the Indian sugar industry. Highest record one hundred nine lakh metric tonnes of sugar has been exported. The Ministry has said that the Indian sugar industry has achieved this feat due to internationally favorable prices and better coordination efforts between Central and State Governments, farmers, sugar mills and a conducive environment for sugar production and exports. The country has earned foreign exchange of 40 thousand crore rupees from record exports.

5. PM participates in Kullu Dussehra celebrations

The Prime Minister , Shri Narendra Modi , participates in the Kullu Dussehra celebrations at Dhalpur Maidan in Kullu , Himachal Pradesh . International Kullu Dussehra Festival is being celebrated from 5th to 11th October, 2022 at Dhalpur Maidan, Kullu. This festival is unique in that it is a gathering of more than 300 deities of the valley. On the first day of the festival, the deities in their well-decorated palanquins worship the main deity Lord Raghunathji in the temple and then leave for the Dhalpur ground.

6. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrives in Auckland, New Zealand on a week-long visit to New Zealand and Australia

External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has reached Auckland , New Zealand on a week-long visit to New Zealand and Australia . This is Dr Jaishankar’s first visit to New Zealand. The External Affairs Minister met Priyanka Radhakrishnan , Member of Parliament of New Zealand . The External Affairs Minister will attend an event with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern . In this, the Indian community will honor Dr Jaishankar for his extraordinary achievements and contributions. The two leaders will release India@75 postage stamps to celebrate the elixir of freedom in New Zealand. Dr Jaishankar will also release the book ‘ Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery ‘. Another book on this occasionHeartfelt – The Legacy of Faith ” will also be released. It showcases Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special relationship with the Sikh community.

7. Telangana Rashtra Samithi renamed the party as Bharat Rashtra Samithi

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief and Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao has announced to change the name of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) . The decision was taken at a meeting at the party headquarters in Hyderabad. The change in the name of the party will be formally nominated in the Election Commission.

8. Home Minister Amit Shah announced Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari community of Jammu and Kashmir

Home Minister Amit Shah has announced Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari community in Jammu and Kashmir . At a rally in Rajouri, Shri Amit Shah said that the Justice GD Sharma Commission in its report submitted to the government had recommended reservation for the Pahari community. The Home Minister said that reservation will be implemented after completing the administrative formalities.

9. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 263 development projects worth Rs.1960 crore in Jammu

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 263 development projects worth Rs.1960 crore in Jammu . These include inauguration of 82 projects costing Rs 500 crore and foundation stone laying of 181 projects costing Rs 1460 crore. Several dignitaries including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Shri Jitendra Singh and the Union Home Secretary were present on the occasion.

10. RPF conducted several focused missions in Sept. 2022 like Operation “Sewa”, Operation “Dignity”, Operation “Ninne Farishte”, Mission “Jeevan Raksha” and Operation “Matrishtik”

Taking forward its pledge of ” Seva Hi Sankalp ” by Railway Police Force (RPF) in September 2022 on all India level month long operation “Seva” incorporating the factors of several focused campaigns under the code named Sansar (Social Concern) , Operation “Dignity” , Operation Nanhe Farishtey , Mission “Jeevan Raksha” and Operation “Matrishakti”As such campaigns were conducted. RPF personnel assist the elderly citizens, women, differently abled with a view to make their travel safe and comfortable and provide facilities like wheelchairs, stretchers, medical aids, ambulances, baby food etc. under Operation “SEWA”. RPF personnel selflessly acted in a timely manner under “Operation Dignity” and provided security to 427 adults (223 males + 204 females) during September 2022. RPF personnel under “Operation Nanhe Farishte” do the noble task of identifying and rescuing children who are missing/runaway/separated from their families due to various reasons, who require care and protection. In September 2022, 1119 children were rescued. Mission “Survival” Under RPF personnel saved the lives of 115 people (72 men + 43 women) during September 2022 risking their lives. RPF personnel, especially women RPF personnel, under “Operation Matrushakti” make every effort to help pregnant women passengers who are facing labor pains while traveling in the train.

11. PR Sreejesh and Savita Poonia selected by the International Hockey Federation as the best men’s and women’s goalkeepers of the year

India’s PR Sreejesh and Savita Poonia have been named the Men’s and Women’s Goalkeepers of the Year for the second time in a row at the International Hockey Federation (FIH) awards . Sreejesh is the third player to win the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year award twice in a row. Savita is only the third player to win the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year title twice in a row.

12. October 5: National Dolphin Day

October 5 has been designated as National Dolphin Day by the Union Environment Ministry and will be celebrated annually starting from this year. The Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) took this decision to designate 5 October as National Dolphin Day. The day will focus on creating awareness as it is an integral part of dolphin conservation including the Ganges Dolphin. The day will also focus on people’s participation for the conservation of dolphins. The focus will also be on improving the water quality and flow of Ganga and its tributaries so that the Ganges dolphins can survive.
