1 President Draupadi Murmu announces Overseas Citizens of India cards to sixth generation Suriname citizens of Indian origin

President  Draupadi Murmu  concluded  her  three-day state visit to Suriname . On the last day of the visit, President Murmu hosted a community reception for Indian diaspora in Suriname. Addressing the Indian diaspora on the occasion, the President expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the talks between the two countries. He   also expressed happiness over the sixth generation of Surinamese being given overseas Indian cards. This visit of President Murmu is historically important. She   was the chief guest at the 150th anniversary celebrations of the arrival of Indians in Suriname . This program was organized on 5th June. Indian President  in the year 1873 by ship Lalla Rukh Emphasized the historical significance of this milestone with the first group of Indians arriving in Suriname.

2 President Draupadi Murmu reached the capital Belgrade on a three-day visit to Serbia

 President  Draupadi Murmu  was received  at the Nikola Tesla Airport by  Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic  on his arrival in  Belgrade . President Draupadi Murmu paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandijeva Street. The President is on a 3-day state visit to Serbia. The focus of this visit of the President of India is to enhance business ties. In this connection, a 20-member delegation is reaching Serbia from India.  It will be attended by members of the three major Indian associations –  ASSOCHAM, FICCI and CII . The focus of the visit will be on encouraging the business communities of both the countries to explore business opportunities.

3 Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya released the 5th Food Security Index of States in New Delhi

Union Health Minister  Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya  released   the fifth Food Security Index of States  in  New Delhi . Food Safety and Standards Authority of India – FSSAI releases this index after annual evaluation. The index assesses the performance of states on the basis of food security parameters. On this occasion, Dr. Mandaviya awarded the winning states in various categories. Among the bigger states,  Kerala secured the top ranking, followed by Punjab and Tamil Nadu, Goa topped among smaller states and was followed by Manipur and Sikkim respectively. Apart from this, among Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh secured the first, second and third positions respectively. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya also appreciated the states which showed significant improvement in their State Food Security Index scores.

4 RBI Governor launched Financial Inclusion Dashboard Insights

Reserve Bank  of India Governor  Shaktikanta Das launched a financial inclusion dashboard named ‘ Insights ‘  on 6 June . In a statement issued by the RBI, it has been said that the progress of financial inclusion will be assessed as per the prescribed standards through the insight dashboard. 5 Ukraine’s Kakhovka Dam destroyed in an explosion that caused massive flooding and a humanitarian crisis in the war-torn region

The Kakhovka Dam  is a major hydroelectric power plant and large reservoir built on the Dnieper River  in   southern  Ukraine . It was destroyed in an explosion  on June 6, 2023,  causing massive  flooding and humanitarian distress in the war-torn region. has arisen. Ukraine and Russia have blamed each other for the attack, which has increased tensions between the two countries. The Kakhovka Dam was built in 1956 as part of an ambitious project of the Soviet Union to use the Dnieper River for irrigation, power generation and navigation. The dam was 30 meters high and 3.2 kilometers long, creating a reservoir that covered 2,155 square kilometers and had a water holding capacity of 18 cubic kilometers. With the help of this dam, water was also supplied to the Crimean Peninsula, which was occupied by Russia in the year 2014, and from this dam, the necessary water was also supplied to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is under Russian control. Is. The dam was located on the border area of ​​Ukrainian and Russian military forces in southern Ukraine where fighting has been going on since 2014.

Types of malware include viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, adware, and scareware. These threats can lead to data loss, financial loss, loss of privacy and system vulnerabilities. Malware can be prevented by using security measures such as antivirus software, strong passwords, regular updates, and vigilant online services.

7 Union Cabinet approves 3rd revival package for BSNL with an outlay of Rs 89 thousand 47 crore

Union Cabinet  approves  3rd Revival Package  for  BSNL  with a total outlay of  Rs.89 thousand 47 crores has been approved. This includes allocation of 4-G and 5-G spectrum to BSNL through equity infusion. The authorized capital of BSNL will be increased from Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand crore to Rs 2 lakh 10 thousand crore. With this revival package, BSNL will emerge as a strong telecom service provider with focus on connectivity to remote areas of the country. With this spectrum allocation, BSNL will be able to provide 4G and 5G services across India. Under various connectivity projects, it will provide 4G coverage in rural and unserved villages. It will provide fixed wireless access services for high-speed Internet and services and spectrum for captive non-public networks.

8 India Sri Lanka Defense Seminar and Exhibition organized at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo in Sri Lanka

 The High Commission  of India  in  Sri Lanka  organized an India Sri Lanka Defense Symposium and Exhibition  at  the Taj Samudra Hotel  in  Colombo . 9 Bangladesh and the World Bank sign two agreements to enhance agriculture, improve food security and road safety

Bangladesh and the World Bank  have   signed two agreements worth $858 million  to enhance  climate-resilient agricultural growth, food security and road safety improvements. The agreements were signed by Sharifa Khan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Government of Bangladesh, and Abdullay Saik, World Bank Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, in Dhaka.

10. Sri Lanka gears up for regional energy integration, having grid connectivity with India by 2030

Sri Lanka  is set to achieve regional energy integration by having grid connectivity  with India   by 2030 . Sri Lankan Power and Energy Minister Kanchan Wijesekera tweeted that regional energy integration talks have been going on for over two decades and the government is prioritizing India-Sri Lanka grid connection by 2030. He added that the World Bank is assisting the government-owned Ceylon Electricity Board in understanding the technical aspects required for the project. The two countries had earlier this year agreed in principle to a renewable energy framework to enhance cooperation. This integration could pave the way for increased energy security and economic development in the region.

11 Ministry of Rural Development along with World Bank and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation organized a two-day conference on Rural Development – ‘Growing India: Reimagining Rural Development for Shared Prosperity’

The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD)  is organizing a two-day conference,   inviting the brightest minds to brainstorm on rural development and chart a road map for rural India during the Amrit Kaal . Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj  Shri Giriraj Singh inaugurated a two-day conference under the title  ‘ Developing India: Reimagining Rural Development for Shared Prosperity ‘  in New Delhi . The World Bank  and  the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation  have been two long-term strategic partners of the Ministry of Rural Development and have supported the central and state governments in setting new directions through investment, partnership development, evidence gathering and knowledge support.

12 The Union Cabinet approved the continuation of the Central Sector Scheme, ‘Coal and Lignite Exploration Scheme’

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA),  chaired by  the Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi,  has   approved the Central Sector Scheme, ‘ Coal and Lignite Exploration Scheme ‘  with an estimated outlay of Rs.2980 crore from 2021-22 to 2025-26  i.e.  15th Finance Commission cycle co-termination with approved to continue till Under this scheme, exploration for coal and lignite is carried out in two broad phases: (i) promotional (regional) exploration and (ii) detailed exploration in non-CIL blocks. The approval will provide an outlay of Rs 1650 crore for promotional (regional) exploration and Rs 1330 crore for detailed drilling in non-CIL fields. About 1300 sq km area will be covered under regional exploration and about 650 sq km area under detailed exploration.

13 NHPC signs MoU with Energy Department, Government of Maharashtra for pumped storage schemes and other renewable energy source projects

 An MoU was signed between NHPC Limited  and  the Department of Energy , Government  of  Maharashtra  for the development of  Pumped Storage Schemes and other Renewable Energy Source Projects  in  the State of Maharashtra . Four Pumped Storage Projects with a total capacity of 7,350 MW under MoU  Kalu – 1,150 MW, Savitri – 2,250 MW, Jalond – 2,400 MW and Kengadi – 1,550 MW are envisaged. Under the agreement, other renewable energy source projects will also be developed in the state. The MoU emphasizes on using pumped storage projects as an energy storage solution to help achieve the national objective of energy transition, i.e. 500 GW of renewable energy installed capacity by 2030 and net zero by 2070.

15 Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology transfers cost-effective Lithium Ion battery recycling technology to nine recycling industries and start-ups

16 IIT Madras retains top spot for fifth consecutive year

Recently   the rankings for the year 2023 were announced by the  National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) which showcased the excellence and achievements of various educational institutions in India. Indian Institute of Technology Madras  has  topped the overall ranking for the fifth year in a row while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore was ranked as the best university. Union Minister of State for Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh announced the ranking. 7 IITs- Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee and Guwahati, are among the top 10 institutes in the overall ranking. AIIMS, which was ranked ninth last year, improved its ranking to sixth this year, while Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) retained its tenth position in the overall category. IISc-Bengaluru was followed by JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia at the second and third places in the universities category. In the colleges category, Miranda House, Hindu College and Presidency College-Chennai stood first, second and third respectively. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Ahmedabad and Bengaluru have retained the first and second positions, respectively, among the country’s management locations.

17 First Dettol Climate Resilient School inaugurated in Uttarkashi

 On  World Environment Day , Reckitt launches the first Dettol Climate Resilient School  in  Uttarkashi ,  Uttarakhand   as part of  its  Dettol  Banega Swasth Bharat campaign inaugurated. The initiative aims to provide schools with the tools and knowledge needed to build climate-resilient communities. Uttarakhand is highly susceptible to the negative effects of climate change due to various factors such as melting of glaciers, population growth, seismic activities and over-exploitation of natural resources. Aligned with the vision of the Government of India, Dettol Climate Resilient Schools will empower children and make them climate resilient champions who will act as catalysts in creating climate-resilient communities. 18 Nirmala Laxman became the new president of Hindu Group

Ms. Nirmala Laxman  has   been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of The Hindu Group Publishing Private Limited (THGPPL)  for a period of  three years . She will succeed Ms. Malini Parthasarathy, who stepped down as Chairperson at the Board meeting on Monday, June 5, 2023, nearing completion of her three-year term.

19 Karnataka Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution requesting approval for the Mekedatu Drinking Water and Balancing Reservoir Project

The Mekedatu project  has recently become a talking point, with   the Deputy Chief Minister of  Karnataka , DK Shivakumar  advocating the construction of a balancing reservoir on the Kaveri river  near Kanakapura  . Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress president and the MLA from Kanakapura, stressed the need for preparedness for the project and asked Bengaluru and  Tamil Nadu Highlighted its potential benefits for both the farmers of India. The Mekedatu project aims to create a balancing reservoir on the Kaveri river in Karnataka. This includes the construction of a reservoir near the town of Kanakapura, which will help regulate water flow and provide drinking water to Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Additionally, the project aims to support agricultural activities in the Cauvery basin and ensure water availability for farmers in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

20 Government bans 14 combination drugs

The Central Government  has   issued a gazette notification banning 14  commonly used  Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs for the treatment of cough, fever and infections . The ban, which comes into force with immediate effect, follows the recommendations of an expert committee appointed to assess the efficacy of these drug combinations. According to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), FDCs refer to products that contain one or more active ingredients that are used for a specific indication. The ban follows the recommendations of the Expert Committee and the Drugs Technical Advisory Board. The committee concluded that the banned FDCs lack medical relevance and may pose a risk to humans.
