2 President commissions country’s stealth warship ‘INS Vindhyagiri’ in Kolkata

President  Draupadi Murmu  commissioned  the latest warship ‘ INS Vindhyagiri ‘ at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited  Shipbuilding Center  on the banks of  the Hooghly River  at Khidarpur in  Kolkata . Advanced stealth frigate INS Vindhyagiri,  the sixth warship of Project 17A frigates Is. The state-of-the-art warship will be fitted with latest equipment and will undergo extensive trials before being handed over to the Indian Navy. Project 17A battleships are guided missile frigates. The warship is equipped with stealth technology, advanced weapons, sensors and platform management systems. It is capable of neutralizing threats in all three dimensions of air, surface and subsurface. Vindhyagiri is the last of three warships being built by Defense Public Sector Undertaking Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited for the Indian Navy. The warship is named after a mountain range in Karnataka and is the sixth ship under the Project 17A frigate programme.

The World Health Organisation  ‘s  first Global Conference on Traditional Medicine  has begun at the Mahatma Mandir  in  Gandhinagar Gujarat . The inaugural session was   addressed by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya . He said that the summit will take forward the agenda of traditional medicine. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organisation,   said the summit will help highlight ancient traditional medical systems and advance their understanding and use in the present day.

4 Government made police verification mandatory for mobile sim card dealers, ban on bulk sale of sim cards

The government  has decided to make biometric verification mandatory  for  mobile SIM card dealers  and  stop issuing new SIMs on a large scale  . In New Delhi, Communications Minister  Ashwini Vaishnav  said that registration of all SIM card dealers would also be mandatory. He said that  several steps have been taken to prevent cyber frauds and fake calls  and to protect mobile users. Sanchar Saathi Portal He informed that 52 lakh bogus connections have been detected and deactivated. 67 thousand SIM card dealers have been banned. Shri Vaishnav said that three hundred FIRs have been registered. He told that 66 thousand WhatsApp accounts and eight lakh payment wallet accounts have been closed. Under this new initiative, a mobile SIM card dealer, involved in any illegal activities, will be banned for three years. Scanning of QR code of Aadhaar has been made mandatory to prevent misuse of Aadhaar.

He spoke about India’s contribution to TB eradication through several initiatives like Ni-Kshaya Mitra and Ni-Kshaya Poshan Yojana. India-Made Tech Expo  was also organized during the meeting  . Earlier, he inaugurated the first WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine and Advantage India Summit.

6 Chairman of Central Water Commission launched mobile app ‘Flood Watch’ to provide real-time flood forecast to the public using interactive maps

The Chairman of the Central Water Commission  (CWC),  Shri Kushvendra Vohra launched the  mobile application “ Flood Watch ” which aims to provide flood status information and forecast up to 7 days to the public on real time basis. This user friendly app developed in-house has readable and audio broadcast content and all the information is available in 2 languages, English and Hindi. The salient feature of the app includes real-time flood monitoring where users can find out about the latest flood status across the country. The app uses real-time river flow data from various sources. The app also provides flood forecast at the nearest location, where users can get information related to flood at their nearest location from the home page itself.

9 India signs MoU with Trinidad and Tobago to share India Stack

India and  Trinidad and Tobago  have   signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share India Stack . India Stack  is a collection of open APIs and digital public goods that aims to facilitate identity, data and payment services  at scale.  Is. Both sides agreed to cooperate in the areas of digital transformation through capacity building, training programs, best practices, exchange of public officials and experts, development of pilot or demo solutions, etc. India has already signed MoUs with countries like Armenia, Sierra Leone, Suriname and Antigua and Barbuda to share India Stack before June 2023, while several countries like Mauritius, Saudi Arabia have shown interest and are interested in building on India Stack. are in advanced stages of finalizing the collaboration. Recently the Union Cabinet  approved the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA ) between the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) , the Department of Revenue, Government of India and   the Department of Home Affairs comprising the  Australian Border Force, Government  of  Australia . has been approved. The objective of this important agreement is to provide reciprocal access to the licensed and trusted exporters of both the countries in speedy clearance of products through customs. The MRA promotes international trade security while improving trade facilitation as it conforms to the safeguard framework of the World Customs Organization’s standards. The arrangement aims to strengthen economic ties between India and Australia by bringing the Australian Trusted Trader Program and the Indian Authorized Economic Operator Program under mutual recognition.

11 Jharkhand: Abua Awas Yojana

Jharkhand  Chief Minister  Hemant Soren  announced  the launch of  ‘ Abua Awas Yojana ‘  , a housing initiative aimed at building houses for the needy  within the next two years at a cost of  Rs 15,000 crore .  During the flag hoisting ceremony at Ranchi’s Morhabadi Maidan , Soren stressed on his government’s commitment to fulfill promises and strengthen the state. He said that this scheme would provide three room houses to the needy citizens. The CM also highlighted other initiatives like Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana and Universal Pension Scheme for youth skill development. Apart from this, Soren also discussed scholarship distribution, modern hostel construction and agriculture schemes.

16 Border Roads Organization begins construction of world’s highest motorable Likaru-Migla-Phukche motorway in eastern Ladakh

The Border Roads Organisation-BRO  has   started  the construction of the world’s highest motorable Likaru-Migla-Phukche road  near  Hanle  in  eastern Ladakh . The 64-km  long road  will connect Likaru  with Fukche, which  is three km from the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh  . The new highest motorable pass  at an altitude of 19 thousand 400 feet  will set a new world record. Presently,  Umlingala Pass at an altitude of  19 thousand 24 feet , is the world’s highest motorable road, which was constructed in the year 2021 in BRO. The Umlingala Pass is a 52 km long road that connects Chishumale to Demchok, which is on the Line of Actual Control, as well as a point of conflict between India and China. The proposed road between Likaru-Migla-Fukche will pass through the strategically important Migla, which is at an altitude of 19 thousand 400 feet. A budget of about Rs 520 crore has been earmarked for this ambitious project.

A Russian  court   has fined  tech giant  Google three million rubles for failing to remove alleged misinformation on the Internet about the  Ukraine  conflict . The court found Google-owned  YouTube  guilty of not removing videos giving misinformation related to the struggle. Earlier, the company said it has filed for bankruptcy in Russia after authorities seized its bank accounts. Due to this the company has become unable to pay the employees and suppliers.

G-20 Film Festival   begins in New Delhi . Pather Panchali, a classic  by  noted film director  Satyajit Ray,  will be the opening film of the festival. 19 Priya Malik won the gold medal in the Under-20 World Wrestling Championships in Amman, the capital of Jordan.

Indian wrestler  Priya Malik  has  won  the gold medal   in the Under-20 World Wrestling Championship  held in  Jordan . Priya defeated Laura Celine Kuehn of Germany 5-0 in the final match of freestyle wrestling in 76 kg weight category. He did not drop a single point during the entire tournament. Priya has become the second Indian wrestler to achieve this feat. Earlier, the last Panghal had won the Junior World Championship last year. Priya has won the Under-17 world title in 2021 and 2022 and the Under-20 world title in her short career.

20 Indian wrestler Mohit Kumar won the Under 20 World Championship in men’s 61kg freestyle category in Amman City, Jordan.

Indian wrestler  Mohit Kumar  has   won the Under-20 World Wrestling Championship title. In Jordan’s Amman, Mohit created history by securing the first position in men’s 61 kg freestyle. Mohit became the fourth Indian freestyle wrestler to win the Junior World Championship by defeating Eldar Akhmadudinov of Russia in the final. Earlier in the year 2001 Palwinder Cheema and Ramesh Kumar and in the year 2019 Deepak Punia won the gold medal of this championship. Jaideep won the bronze medal in the 74 kg weight category by defeating the wrestler from Kyrgyzstan. Sagar Jaglan won the silver medal in the 89 kg weight category, while Deepak Chahal won the bronze medal in the 97 kg category.
