President Draupadi Murmu paid floral tributes at the statue of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan . President Draupadi Murmu has greeted teachers across the country on the occasion of Teachers’ Day . President Draupadi Murmu has said that education in mother tongue is the basis for development of talent in the fields of science, literature and social science among students and this has been given special attention in the New Education Policy 2020 . The President gave National Awards to 46 teachers selected from across the country at a function held in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day.honored with. The President said that the present day knowledge economy is driven by research and innovation. Teachers should encourage curious students. He said that teachers are the life force of Indian education. About 97 lakh teachers provide education to more than 26 crore students in more than 15 lakh schools. Every year the Ministry of Education organizes a function to honor the best teachers selected from across the country with the National Award. The online selection process is transparent. The objective of the National Awards is to celebrate and honor the special contribution of teachers to the country.

Every year 5 September is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India with the aim of underlining the important role of teachers in the contribution of the nation . Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President, second President and educationist of India. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 in Tiruttani, Tamil Nadu and died in the year 1962.He became the President of India and he remained in this post till the year 1967. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is known as a teacher as well as a renowned philosopher and statesman. It is noteworthy that Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was nominated 16 times for the Nobel Prize in Literature and 11 times for the Nobel Peace Prize. He died on 16 April 1975 in Chennai. On this occasion, students show their respect and respect towards teachers in their own way. It is to be noted that World Teachers Day is celebrated on 5 October every year. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is remembered as one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century as well as for introducing Western philosophy to Indian society.

Eminent historian and first Vice Chancellor of Mangalore and Goa Universities Professor B Shaikh Ali passed away. He was the general secretary of the 47th session of the Indian History Congress in 1986 and the founding president of the South India History Congress in 1985. He is a recipient of Rajyotsava Award and has written a total of 23 books in English.
