Tamil film Soorarai Pottru won the Best Feature Film award. Hindi film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Ajay Devgan was given the Best Actor Award for this film. The Best Actor Award for Soorarai Pottru went to Suriya and Aparna Balamurali was awarded the Best Actress Award for the same film. 2. India ranks 40th in World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index
India has reached the 40th position in the World Intellectual Property Organization ‘s Global Innovation Index . This is a big progress in the last seven years when India’s ranking has improved by 41 places . Switzerland has retained the first position for the 12th year in a row. America is in second place. India, which was ranked 81 in the Global Innovation Index in 2015, has now moved up to 40th position.
3. Lt Gen Anil Chauhan takes over as Chief of Defense Staff
Retired Lt Gen Anil Chauhan has taken over as the Chief of Defense Staff . Earlier, he paid tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial in Delhi. 4. RBI hikes repo rate by another 50 basis points to 5.9 percent
The repo rate , the rate at which RBI lends money to commercial banks, has been hiked again by 50 basis points . Keeping in view the prevailing unfavorable global environment, tolerance to domestic economic activity and high inflation levels, RBI has increased the policy repo rate by 50 basis points to 5.40 per cent . As a result, the Permanent Deposit Facility (SDF) rate stands adjusted at 5.65 per cent and the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 6.15 per cent. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the Monetary Policy Committee has decided to focus on withdrawal of the facility so that inflation remains within the target range and continues to support growth.
5. Fourth Tiger Reserve announced in Uttar Pradesh
Recently, Uttar Pradesh (UP) approved the notification of the state’s fourth tiger reserve at Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary (RWS) in Chitrakoot district . This will be the 54th Tiger Reserve of India . Guru Ghasidas National Park of Chhattisgarh India’s 53rd Tiger Reserve. Although the Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary itself does not host tigers, it is frequented by tigers from the neighboring Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. Panna Tiger Reserve and Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary are located close to each other and the latter is an important corridor for movement of tigers. A 2018 survey by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) showed that there are three tigers in Ranipur. Ranipur Tiger Reserve will be spread over an area of 529.89 square kilometer, of which 299.58 square kilometer will be as buffer zone and rest is core area, which was already notified as RWS in 1977. The new Tiger Reserve has tropical deciduous forests and fauna like tigers, leopards, spotted deer, sambar and chinkara. Ranipur Tiger Conservation Foundation will also be established in this area for the conservation of tigers.
6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flags off Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express train in Gujarat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the new and modern Vande Bharat Express train from Gandhinagar railway station in Gujarat . Indigenously Built Semi High Speed Express Trains Gandhinagar and Mumbai Centralwill run between Vande Bharat Express is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art safety features including indigenously developed train anti-collision system- Kavach. It will accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 52 seconds and will reach a top speed of 180 kmph. The upgraded Vande Bharat Express will weigh 392 tonnes as compared to the previous version of 430 tonnes. It will also have the facility of Wi-Fi content on demand. For information and entertainment for the passengers, each coach will have a 32-inch screen, Whereas its previous version had a 24-inch screen. The Prime Minister took a train ride from Gandhinagar to Kalupur Railway Station. After this he traveled in metro rail from Kalupur station to Doordarshan Kendra metro station. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the ambitious Ahmedabad Metro project. The first phase of the Ahmedabad Metro project comprises about 32 km of the East-West Corridor from Apparel Park to Thaltej and the North-South Corridor between Motera to Gyaspur. The Thaltej-Vastra route in the East-West corridor has 17 stations. The corridor also has an underground section of 6.6 km with four stations. There are 15 stations in the 19 km north-south corridor connecting Gyaspur to Motera Stadium. The entire first phase of the project has been built at a cost of over Rs 12,900 crore.

10. ONDC Networks begins beta testing with customers in Bengaluru
In a significant achievement, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) , an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) , Ministry of Commerce , Government of India, has launched the entire BangaloreIt has opened its network for consumers at 16 locations in the city. Firstly, consumers can place their orders through the participating Buyer App on the ONDC network in two domains – grocery and restaurant. Consumers can now shop from a wide range of products and services of their choice from a single buyer application. They can buy grocery products from stores or order food from restaurants. Many more applications will join the network in the coming weeks, expanding both buyers and sellers participating in this transaction. ONDC started its alpha test phase in April 2022 in Bengaluru with a limited consumer base of buyers and expanded it to 80 cities by September 2022.

13. World Bank cuts development target for 2022 East Asia
The World Bank said economic growth in East Asia and the Pacific will weaken sharply in 2022 due to China ‘s slowdown , but the pace of expansion will accelerate next year. The Washington-based lender said in a report that it expects 2022 growth in East Asia and the Pacific, which includes China, down from its 5.0% forecast in April at 3.2% and last year’s growth of 7.2%.
14. BSE gets SEBI’s final nod to launch EGR on its platform
Leading stock exchange BSE said it has received final approval from capital markets regulator SEBI to introduce Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) on its platform. This comes after the BSE received in-principle approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in February, following which the exchange conducted several mock trading sessions in a test environment for its members to facilitate trading in EGR.

International Translation Day was started by the International Federation of Translators- FIT.
