15.A new species of spider named as “NarasimhMehtai”
Researchers from Bhakta Kavi Narsingh Mehta University (BKNMU) in Junagadh have recently discovered a new species of spider. It has been named as “ NarsinghMehtai ” to honor Narsingh Mehta and to put his name on the global map . Narsingh Mehta was a 15th century poet and devotee of Lord Krishna. Members of the Brahmin community objected to the naming, saying that it was already a universal name and there was no need to associate their name with that of a spider. Narsingh Mehta was born in 1410, at Talja in present-day Bhavnagar district. He died in Junagadh in the 1480s. His family originated in Vadnagar in northern Gujarat. The original caste name is believed to be Pandya, but because family members were officials in the states, they were called Mehtas.
16.NSO projects India’s GDP growth at 8.9% in 2021-22

- For 2021-22 (FY22) = 8.9% (Earlier it was 9.2% in Advance Estimates)
- For 2020-21 (FY21) = -6.6% (earlier it was -7.3%)
Gross value added (GVA) growth in the manufacturing sector held steady at around 0.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2021-22 as compared to 8.4 per cent growth a year ago, according to NSO data.

20.Japan and India renewed Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA)
Japan and India have renewed the Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA) whose size is up to USD 75 billion. The BSA is a two-way arrangement where both the authorities can swap their local currencies in exchange for the US dollar. The interest rate charged in this case is fixed at the time of signing the agreement and hence it reduces the risk due to exchange rate fluctuations. The Real Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA) was signed between the Bank of Japan and the Reserve Bank of India in 2018. This means that Japan and India can borrow money from each other in their own currency i.e. Indian Rupee or Japanese Yen or US Dollar.

22.GST collection in February exceeds one lakh thirty thousand crores, it is 26 percent more than February 2020
The Finance Ministry has said that during the month of February , an amount of more than one lakh 33 thousand crore rupees has been recovered as Gross GST Revenue . The ministry said that this amount is 26 percent more than the GST revenue of the same month of the year 2020. Whereas this is 18 percent more than the amount recovered in 2021. The ministry said that this is the fifth time that the figure of GST collection has crossed one lakh 30 thousand crore rupees.
