1. Kiran Bedi removed as Lt. Governor of Puducherry, entrusted additional charge to Governor of Telangana
Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilasai Soundararajan has been given the additional charge of Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Puducherry . In a release issued by the President’s Secretariat, the President has directed Dr. Kiran Bedi to step down as Lt. Governor of Puducherry. Till regular arrangements, Telangana Governor Dr Tamilasai Saundararajan has been asked to take charge of the Lt. Governor of Puducherry. Meanwhile, the government of V. Narayanasamy has come to a minority after the resignation of four members of Congress and disqualification of one member in Puducherry . The government’s term ends on June 8.
2. Cabinet approves grant of financial powers to officer below Army Sub-Chief level for procurement of defense related
The Union Cabinet has approved the grant of financial powers to an officer below the level of Army Deputy Chief for the purchase of defense related military equipment . The Ministry of Defense has said that after this approval, financial powers for purchase of up to one hundred crore rupees have been given to the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief and Regional Commanders of the Indian Coast Guard. The purchase of military equipment costing two hundred crore rupees has been given to the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Air Officer Maintenance, Chief of Coordinated Defense and Additional Director General of Indian Coast Guard.

Engozi Okonjo-Iwela of Nigeria has recently been appointed Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), with which she has become the first woman and the first African head of the World Trade Organization. The EU’s trade volume with China reached 586 billion euros ($ 711 billion) in 2020, while for the US it was 555 billion euros ($ 673 billion). Bilateral trade with the UK reached 444.7 billion euros. European Union exports to China rose 2.2 percent to 202.5 billion euros, while imports from China rose 5.6 percent to 383.5 billion euros. Similarly, EU exports to the United States decreased by 13.2 percent and imports by 8.2 percent over the same period. In Britain, exports declined by 13.2 percent, while imports declined by 13.9 percent.

National Informatics Center (NIC) has ‘ message has launched an app called’ (Sandes). This instant messaging platform whatsappAs is. It can be used for any type of communication. A mobile number or email ID is required to be registered with this app. The need to launch this application was felt to ensure a secure communication among employees as the “work from home” culture gained momentum in the backdrop of nationwide lockdown. NIC released the first version of the app in August 2020 This app can be used for inter-organizational communication by central and state government officials. This app was initially launched for Android users and mainly government officials. It was also extended to the users and is now available to the general public as well. This app is a part of the government strategy to advance the use of software manufactured in India.
8. Government will make two amendments to privatize public banks
Government banks (PSB), the public sector ‘s privatization would amend two Acts to simplify. Amendments will be made to the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings ) Act, 1970 and the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1980 . These two Acts facilitated the nationalization of these banks in two phases. Now, for the privatization of public sector banks, the provisions of these Acts have to be changed. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the privatization of public sector banks while presenting the Union Budget 2021-22. Public banks will be privatized as a disinvestment drive for Rs 75 lakh crore. According to the announcement, three banks including IDBI banks will be privatized.

11. India joins “Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021”
India has joined the ” Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021 “, a two-day naval exercise. The exercise is being conducted in the northern part of the Indian Ocean . 12. Cabinet approved amendment to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has enacted the Juvenile Justice (Care and Child Protection) Bill 2015 of the Ministry of Women and Child Development to ensure the interests of children and to take measures to strengthen the child protection system.Has approved the proposal for amendment. The amendment empowers the District Magistrate and Additional District Magistrate to issue adoption orders under Section 61 of the Juvenile Justice Act to ensure speedy disposal of cases and increase accountability. The District Magistrate has also been empowered under the Act to make the implementation of the law smooth so that coordinated efforts can be made in favor of children in case of crisis. The bill also defines the eligibility criteria for appointment of CWC members and classifies previously undefined offenses as ‘serious offenses’. The difficulties in implementing various provisions of the law have also been removed.

14. Prime Minister to launch Mahabahu-Brahmaputra waterway in Assam

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of tourism jetty in four places – Nimati, Biswanath Ghat, Pandu and Jogighopa, through a virtual medium.
