1.Prime Minister Modi announced assistance of 325 crores for Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep affected by the storm :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an immediate assistance of 325 crore rupees for Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep, which was affected by the typhoon. Earlier, Tamil Nadu had received Rs. 280 crores and Rs. 76 crores to Kerala.

The Central Government will provide assistance under the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana for the reconstruction of nearly four hundred houses completely damaged and each beneficiary will be given up to 1.5 lakh rupees. Insurance companies have also been asked to settle claims of people affected by the typhoon. Two lakh rupees to the next of kin of the casualties in the storm and Rs. 50 thousand each to the seriously injured will be given an amount of grace.

 

2.China and Russia Criticize America’s New Security Strategy :-

China and Russia have condemned the new US National Security Strategy. In this policy, the United States has termed China and Russia as a rival country challenging US interests. China said that US President Donald Trump’s new security strategy shows the Cold War mentality.

Russia said that new US security tells us that the United States does not want to leave the idea of unipolar world. US President Trump announced Monday a new security strategy, in which it was said that prioritizing American economic interests and establishing peace through force.

 

3.Indian Navy successfully completed second phase of joint marine survey with Sri Lanka Navy :-

The Indian Navy successfully completed the second phase of the combined sea science survey with the naval near the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. This exercise started on 26th October when the Indian Navy ships reached Sri Lanka in Sutlej. Indian Navy submits survey chart to Sri Lankan navy chief The first joint survey between the two countries was done between March 29 and May 11, while the third phase would be done next year.

5.Election Commission asked to ban the broadcast and publication of a video of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa :-

In Tamilnadu, the Election Officer of the RK Nagar assembly constituency has asked a former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha to ban television channels from broadcasting and publishing newspapers on a video in a Chennai hospital. Deputy Elections will be held tomorrow in this constituency.

In a release, the official said that this video could directly or indirectly affect the election. He said that this broadcast is a violation of the provisions of the Public Representation Act, 1951, which prohibits the transmission of any election related material on television 48 hours prior to voting.

In Tamil Nadu, ruling All India Anna D.M. has strongly criticized the Sasikala family for the transmission of a video of the alleged J Jayalalitha Hospital. Senior party leader and fisheries minister D Jayakumar said that this is a conspiracy and considering the tomorrow’s sub-election, it is a reprehensible act.

 

6.Third meeting of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council held in New Delhi :-

The third meeting of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council was concluded at the Policy Commission Bhawan in New Delhi. Council President Dr. Vivek Debroy, and members Ratan P. Watt, Surjit Bhalla, Rathin Roy, Ashima Goyal and Dr. Shamika Ravi remain present in the meeting.

In the second meeting of the Council last month, discussions were also taken to increase the resources of skill development, employment generation and investment in medical and education sectors besides raising basic finance. The meeting was also considered for preparing recommendations for preparing the template for the fifth Finance Commission.

 

7.Indian Railways have planned to install LED lights on all stations till March 2018 :-

Indian Railways has planned to install LED lights on all railway stations by March next year under environmental friendly measures to reduce consumption of electricity. With this major initiative, the non-traction use of the railway will save 10% of the energy. Besides, about two thousand four hundred and a half million units of electricity annually and saving of one hundred eighty crores will be saved.

By this November, thirty-three railway stations of the country have been illuminated with 100% LED lighting. About 20 lakh such lights were installed during this period. The goal of Railways is to install LED lights in all coaches and EMUs.

 

8.One of the three most hot years of the year 2017: UN :-

According to the World’s Meteorological Institute (WMO), the United Nations Special Agency for Meteorology, in terms of global records, 2017 can be one of the three warmest years of the year.

For the combined temperature ranking for the year 2017, WMO will match the statistics of US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GSI) and UK’s Climate Research Unit and Mate Office Headley Center. (source language)

 

9.Greece’s parliament approved the budget of 2018 :-

The Parliament of Greece has approved the budget of 2018. The government has called it the final budget under the bailout package of several billion euros of the country. Prime Minister Alexei-Sipras told the House that the country has left behind tough times, which no one wants to remember now. He said that the government has regained credibility in the operation of government revenue.

 

10.More than 300 million accounts were opened under the Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana :-

Overall, 30.71 crore accounts have been opened under the Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY) till December 06, 2017, of which 18.05 crore accounts were opened in rural / semi-urban areas.

Different banks are opening PMJDY accounts of individuals in their respective branches, who are deprived of banking facilities. Bank friends received facility of opening PMJDY accounts have been deployed for this work. Bank friends are already opening accounts in sub-service areas (SSAs) with 1000-1500 families, which have not been covered so far. State / Union Territory wise number of PMJDY accounts is given in Table-1.

The Department of Revenue has informed that during the period from November 08, 2016 to December 30, 2016, 42,187 crore were deposited in 3,74,14,844 PMJDY accounts. 187 reporting bodies have given information about this to the Department of Revenue. (Source-PIB)
