1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Sankalp Saptah in 500 aspirational blocks across the country.

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  launched  Sankalp Saptah ”  , a week-long special program for aspirational districts  at  Bharat Mandapam  in  New Delhi . On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi launched  the Aspirational Block Program Portal. Also inaugurated the exhibition. ‘Sankalp Saptah’ is associated with the effective implementation of the Aspirational Block Program (ABP). The Prime Minister launched the nationwide program on January 7, 2023. It aims to improve governance at the block level to enhance the quality of life of citizens. It is being implemented in 500 aspirational blocks of 329 districts of the country. Brainstorming camps were organized at village and block level across the country to implement the Aspirational Block Program and prepare an effective block development strategy. ‘Sankalp Week’ is the result of these thinking camps. ‘Sankalp Saptah’ will be celebrated from 3 October to 9 October 2023 in all 500 aspirational blocks.

2 22nd Law Commission recommends the government to retain the current age of consent under the POCSO Act

The 22nd Law Commission  has recommended  the government  to retain the existing age of consent  under the  Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The commission said in its report that reducing it could have a detrimental effect on the fight against child marriage and child trafficking. in India The current age of consent  is 18 years. It also said that there is a need to bring some amendments in the POCSO Act to address the situation in cases where there is not consent but tacit assent to the law on the part of the child aged between 16 to 18 years. It opined that such cases should not be dealt with as seriously as the cases which were ideally envisioned to be brought under the POCSO Act. The Commission on 27th of this month informed the Law Ministry “The report titled “Age of Consent under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 ” has been submitted.

3. Thirike School started under Kadambashree, a poverty alleviation and women empowerment program in Kerala

Tirike School  is being started  in  Kerala  under  Kadambashree  , a program for  poverty alleviation and women empowerment . Its objective   is to motivate 46 lakh people to return to school again . State Local Self Government Minister MB Rajesh is launching this statewide program from Tritala in Palakkad district.

According to provisional results, Dr. Muizzu has received more than 53 percent of the votes. According to Maldivian law, a candidate must receive at least 50 percent of the votes to be elected.

6 Union Minister G Kishan Reddy yesterday launched the country’s first 5-G training laboratories and 5-G app for the health sector in all North-Eastern states

North Eastern Region Development, Tourism and Culture Minister  Shri G. Kishan Reddy  launched India’s first 5G training laboratories  and  5G applications  related to health sector  in  all  eight North Eastern states . The project is centrally funded through the North Eastern Council (NEC) and is being implemented by Assam Electronics Development Corporation (Amtron), a PSU of the Government of Assam.

7 Indian Language Festival and Technology and Indian Language Conference inaugurated in New Delhi

9 33rd Foundation Day of Army Training Command

It is the 33rd raising  day of the Army Training Command. On this occasion, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief  Lieutenant General S. S. 10 India is fourth in the medal table with a total of 38 medals including 10 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals.

Indian men’s squash team  has won  the gold medal  by defeating Pakistan   in  the Hangzhou Asian Games in  China  . For the first time since 2014, the Indian team has won this medal in the Asian Games  . In  tennis   , the pair of  Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale  won the mixed doubles gold medal . In the final, Bopanna and Rutuja defeated Liang En-shuo and Huang Tsung-Hao of Chinese Taipei. Earlier, on the seventh day of these games, India got its first medal in shooting. Sarabjot Singh and Divya  won   the   country  a silver medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event . ten thousand meter run India has  got  both silver and bronze medals. 11 The tenure of the current Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes Nitin Gupta extended till 30 June 2024.

The Central Government   has extended  the tenure of  Nitin Gupta,  the current Chairman of  the Central Board of Direct Taxes-CBDT, till June 30, 2024 . A notification was issued in this regard. According to the notification of the Centre, his service period has been extended on contract basis for nine months. Shri Nitin Gupta is a 1986 batch Indian Revenue Service officer. He was appointed Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes in June 2022.

12 Reserve Bank of India extended the deadline for exchanging Rs 2000 notes till October 7.

The Reserve Bank of India  has   extended the deadline  for exchanging  Rs 2000 notes till October 7. The Reserve Bank said in a statement that the process of exchanging notes was coming to an end and on the basis of a review, it has been decided to continue the current arrangement for depositing or exchanging Rs 2000 notes till October 7. According to the data received from banks,  as of May 19, 2023, Rs 2000  notes worth a total of Rs 3 lakh 56 thousand crore were in circulation, out of which notes worth Rs 3 lakh 42 thousand crore have been returned and on September 29, 2023. At the close of business only Rs 14 thousand crore notes are in circulation. While announcing the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes on May 19, the Reserve Bank of India had said that their validity will remain till September 30 this year.

13 Import of green ammonia through VOC ports

Recently  VO Chidambaranar Port  in  Tamil Nadu  imported green ammonia for the first time as part of   its ‘ Go Green ‘ initiative.  Green ammonia will be used to produce green soda ash  on a trial basis, moving away from the use of  conventional  gray ammonia . The port has been a pioneer in the ‘ Green Port ‘ initiative to promote environment-friendly practices . Green ammonia production is where  the process of making ammonia is 100% renewable and carbon-free. it occurs. Green ammonia is produced by electrolysis of water using hydrogen and nitrogen separated from the air. These are then fed into the Haber process (also known as Haber-Bosch), all of which is powered by sustainable electricity. VO Chidambaranar Port Trust, formerly   known as Tuticorin Port Trust , is one of the major ports in India. It   is located in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu . 15 The country’s first cartography museum was inaugurated in Mussoorie.

Satpal Maharaj  ,   Minister of Tourism and Culture,  Uttarakhand  inaugurated the George Everest Cartography/Mapping Museum  in the picturesque town of   Mussoorie  , Uttarakhand  on the occasion of  World Tourism Day . Dedicated it to the great  mathematician Radhanath Sikdar  and  Pandit Nain Singh Rawat  . Cartography is about exploring and making maps. It uses science, art and technical skills to show real or imagined places in a way that helps us understand where things are located. The museum is situated in the Park Estate, which used to be the residence of the famous surveyor Sir George Everest, after whom Mount Everest is named.

16 Tripura launches e-cabinet system

Tripura  Chief Minister  Manik Saha  unveiled  the e-Cabinet system  in  Agartala  , an important step towards digital transformation of government operations and services.  The introduction of this system has made Tripura  the fourth state in India and the second in the Northeast to adopt electronic cabinet meetings  after  Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh . Adoption of the e-Cabinet system means a shift towards a paperless future for state governance. All upcoming cabinet meetings will be held electronically, with ministers and bureaucrats using tablets. This not only boosts efficiency but also contributes to reducing carbon footprint in line with environmental sustainability goals.

17 FSSAI bans use of newspapers for food storage

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has  notified   the  Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018 which strictly  prohibits the use of newspapers or similar materials for the storage and packing of food. The ink used in newspapers contains various bioactive ingredients with known negative health effects, which can contaminate food and cause health problems if swallowed. Additionally printing inks may contain chemicals including lead and heavy metals that can leach into food, causing serious health risks over time. FSSAI is an autonomous statutory body established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSS Act) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

18 Scientists Finally Complete Mapping of Earth’s 8th Continent, Zealandia

19 NASA astronaut Frank Rubio returns after record-breaking 371 days in space

NASA  astronaut  Frank Rubio , along with fellow crew members,   made a historic return to Earth after an extraordinary 371-day stay in space. Rubio’s journey back to Earth   began with departure from the International Space Station (ISS)  along with  Roscosmos astronauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin . His descent with the help of a parachute was safe and precise, culminating with his landing at 7:17 am. What was initially  planned as a 180-day mission  was expanded into an unexpected 371-day mission for Rubio, which led to the defeat of  Mark Vande Hei. This exceeded the previous NASA record set by NASA by more than two weeks. However, the final record for longest stay in space still stands. The late Russian cosmonaut  Valery Polyakov , who  completed an astonishing 437 consecutive days aboard Russia’s Mir space station between January 1994 and March 1995. Rubio’s mission began on September 21, 2022, and   was the longest solo space flight by the US . During this extraordinary journey, he completed approximately 5,936 orbits and covered a distance of 157 million miles, which is equivalent to approximately 328 round trips to the Moon.

20 monoclonal antibodies

The use of monoclonal antibodies  has been considered  in India during the  recent  Nipah virus outbreak  in  Kozhikode district  of  Kerala . When they are produced by clones derived from a single parent cell they are called monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Monoclonal antibodies are man-made proteins that function like human antibodies in the immune system. They are made by cloning a white blood cell.

21 RBI imposed monetary penalty on three other cooperative banks

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in its continued commitment to maintain the integrity and adherence to banking regulations, has   imposed  monetary penalty on three co-operative banks . These banks, namely Saraswat Co-operative Bank LimitedBasin Catholic Co-operative Bank Limited  and  Rajkot Nagarik Co-operative Bank Limited,  were found to have lapses in regulatory compliance.
