17 Explanation of the origin of ‘Gravity Hole’ in the Indian Ocean

A team of scientists from the Indian Institute of Science  has made an important discovery that  may explain the origin of the anomalous ” gravitational hole ”  in the Indian Ocean . A gravitational hole is a region where  the gravitational pull is much less than that of the surrounding regions  , causing a drop in Earth’s gravitational field. Gravitational force   varies depending on the mass distribution of the crust, mantle, and core because the shape and gravity are not uniform across the Earth’s surface, instead it is slightly flattened at the poles and widened at the equator. One of the most notable examples of variation in gravitational force   is the Indian Ocean Geoid Low (IOGL) . IOGL address for the first time  in 1948 It was planted by  a Dutch geophysicist Felix Andries Venning Meinees  during a ship-based survey  .  Researchers  Debanjan Pal  and  Atreyi Ghosh  from  the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore  , explain their hypothesis about the origin of the gravitational anomaly. The researchers   used computer-simulated models to reconstruct the geological history of the past 140 years. Through this they discovered traces of the ancient ocean which   was about 965 km deep inside the earth’s crust under Africa . Computer-simulations showed that  beneath Africa were molten rocks, formed by the subduction of tectonic plates in the mantle. May be According to him, these could be responsible for the plump IOGL.
