1.RBI Makes Aadhaar Linkage Mandatory for Farmers :-

To ensure hassle-free benefits to farmers under Interest Subvention Scheme, the Reserve Bank of India has advised banks to make Aadhaar linkage mandatory for availing short-term crop loans up to Rs.3 lakh in 2017-18.

This move is in line with the government’s increasing emphasis on linking Aadhaar to various transactions in the economy including filing Income-Tax returns and getting direct benefit transfer.

In order to provide short-term crop loans to farmers at an interest rate of 7 per cent (the same as in the previous year) during the year 2017-18, the RBI said it has been decided to offer interest subvention of 2 per cent to lending institutions – public sector banks, private sector commercial banks (in respect of loans given by their rural and semi-urban branches only) on use of their own resources.

 

2.Veteran Photographer S Paul Died :-

Veteran photographer S Paul died in New Delhi at the age of 88.

Paul received recognition and fame as a professional photographer when his pictures were selected for publication in three renowned British publications — Amateur Photographer, Miniature Camera and Miniature Camera World.

B&W Magazine of US had described him as ‘The Henry Cartier-Bresson of India’.

Apart from other recognitions, Paul was the first Indian to be profiled by The British Journal of Photography in 1967.

He was the first Indian to win the Nikon International Photo Contest in 1971.

 

3.Real Madrid Beats Barcelona to Win 2017 Spanish Super Cup :-

Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup for the 10th time with a 2-0 win over rivals Barcelona at a joyous Santiago Bernabeu to complete a 5-1 aggregate victory that underlined their new status as Spain’s dominant force.

In Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence, Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema scored for Real Madrid to secure a 2-0 win over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup second leg, and win the tie 5-1 on aggregate.

Last season’s Liga and Champions League winners, Madrid also beat Manchester United to win the European Super Cup last week.

 

  1. Karur Vysya Bank Appoints P R Seshadri as MD and CEO :-

The Reserve Bank of India has accorded their approval for the appointment of Shri P R Seshadri as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Karur Vysya Bank Ltd for a period of three years from the date of his taking charge.

The P R Seshadri has replaced K Venkataraman. He was MD & CEO of the Bank since 6th June 2011.

  1. Vishal Sikka Resigns as MD and CEO of Infosys :-

Vishal Sikka has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys. Pravin Rao has been appointed as the interim CEO.

Sikka has been appointed executive vice chairman effective from August 18, and will hold office until the new permanent Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director takes charge, which should be no later than March 31, 2018.

U B Pravin Rao is currently the Chief Operating Officer responsible for the entire portfolio of the company’s offerings.

 

6.CEOs Conference at New Delhi on 18th and 19th August, 2017-regarding :-

A two day Chief Electoral Officers’ Conference of all States and Union Territories commenced in New Delhi today. It was inaugurated by Shri. A.K. Joti, Chief Election Commissioner of India and Shri. O.P. Rawat, Election Commissioner of India.

Addressing the Chief Electoral Officers of the States and Union Territories, Shri. A.K. Joti, Chief Election Commissioner stressed on the need of providing E-services to stakeholders and emphasised the requirement to develop E-Payment gateways for various election services of Election commission of India.

 

7.Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs & Defence to deliver the Inaugural Address at the National Conference on ‘Insolvency and Bankruptcy: Changing Paradigm’ at Mumbai :-

The Union Minister of Finance, Derfence and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley, will be the Chief Guest at the National Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy: Changing Paradigm scheduled to be held at Mumbai tomorrow. Shri Jaitley will deliver the Inaugural Address on the occasion.

One day National Conference is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG) and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) to facilitate the better understanding of intricacies of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (‘Code’), share the experiences gained during the initial nine months and also discuss the challenges that need to be overcome.

 

8.Infosys MD and CEO resigns of big coin, broken stock :-

Managing director and CEO Vishal Sikka of the country’s leading IT company Infosys has resigned from his post. The huge coin was posted on the company’s CEO three years ago. According to information provided by the company to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company has approved the resignation of the huge coin.

UB Praveen Rao has also been appointed as the Interim Managing Director of the company. The huge coin will now play the role of executive vice chairman in the company. After this news, shares of Infosys broke even more than 6 per cent in the initial business. Shares of Infosys Ltd closed with a fall of 9.57 per cent in today’s trade.

 

9.Shri J P Nadda chairs high level review meeting on prevention and control of vector borne diseases in Delhi :-

Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare held a high level meeting to review the activities for prevention and control of vector borne diseases (dengue, malaria, chikungunya and swine flu) in Delhi, here.

 

10.Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to visit Udaipur on 29th August, 2017 :-

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate / lay the foundation stone for National Highways projects worth nearly Rs 15000 crores in Rajasthan.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Udaipur on 29th of August, 2017. He will dedicate to the Nation eleven completed National Highways projects totalling a length of about 873 km.

These include a 6-lane Cable Stayed Bridge across river Chambal at Kota.

 

11.Japan with India against China :-

India is also finding success in these efforts. America and Australia were already with India, now China’s neighboring country Japan has supported India.

According to top officials, Japan has taken India’s favor in this matter through its diplomatic channels.

There is a special point in this matter that between the 13 to 15 September next PM, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is coming to India.
