Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 27th National Youth Festival in Nashik , Maharashtra on 12 January and address the youth of the nation. This year, National Youth Day will be celebrated in the districts across the country by all the regional organizations of the Department of Youth Affairs in collaboration with various government departments. ‘ My Bharat ‘ volunteers across the country will coordinate their energies to conduct volunteer activities for India in collaboration with NSS units, NYKS and several educational institutions. Youth clubs will also bring their vibrant energy to the festival, ensuring a truly inclusive environment. More than 88,000 volunteers will participate in this campaign.

Indian Navy ‘s multinational exercise MILAN 24 will be held at Visakhapatnam from 19 to 27 February . Earlier, the 11th edition of this exercise was conducted in Visakhapatnam under the Eastern Naval Command in 2022. MILAN is a biennial multinational naval exercise that started in 1995 with the participation of four countries Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand in line with India’s ‘ Look East Policy ‘. The meeting is a demonstration of India’s commitment to promoting maritime cooperation and security in the Pacific Ocean region.

He said that 5G network is completely available in Gujarat under Reliance Jio . Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has promised to invest Rs 2 lakh crore in Gujarat . This will provide direct and indirect employment to one lakh people in the next five years. He said that Adani Group is building the world’s largest green energy park in Khavda, Kutch . This will generate thirty gigawatts of renewable energy . Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran talked about setting up a semiconductor fab facility in the state this year itself . ArcelorMittal Executive Chairman Lakshmi Mittal said that the company’s investment in Hazira will increase its steel production capacity to 24 million tonnes per annum by 2029.

5 IIT Madras to open new campus in Kandy, Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan Education Minister Dr. Sushil Premjayanta has said that a new campus of IIT Madras will start in Kandy , Sri Lanka. He said that this proposal is included in the budget for the year 2024 presented by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe as Finance Minister. He said that during his visit to India last month, he had discussions with the Directors and Deans of Faculties of IIT Madras. Dr. Premajayantha said that before the IIT team comes to Sri Lanka to launch the campus, his ministry will send a team of academicians to IIT Madras.

7 Counter-Drone Technology and UAV Development
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has made achievements in developing a comprehensive counter-drone system and has also focused on the advancement of high-endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) . DRDO has developed a comprehensive anti-drone system to detect, identify and disable drones. This technology is capable of countering all types of drone attacks, including micro drones, soft kill and hard kill. The said technology has been shared with private sector companies like BEL, L&T and Icom for large scale production. Tapas MALE UAV : Tapas Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV developed for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) applications is in an advanced stage of developmental trials. Is. The Lithium Ion-based battery with indigenous battery management system has been developed by DRDO in collaboration with a private vendor and is being used on Tapas UAV. Archer UAV : Short range armed UAV Archer is being developed for reconnaissance, surveillance and less critical conflict situations, flight testing of which is in progress.
8 Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2023
The scheme and web-portal for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, 2023 was recently launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances . The award scheme has been restructured to highlight the performance of the District Collector by targeting individual beneficiaries and employing a holistic approach in implementation . It aims to recognize the contribution of civil servants under two categories which include 10 awards for overall development of districts in 12 priority areas and 6 awards for innovations in Central Ministries/Departments and various States and Districts. The scheme aims to promote constructive competition, innovation, replication and establishment of best practices. It gives priority to good governance, qualitative achievements and enhancing last mile connectivity rather than achieving only quantitative targets.
9 Paleolithic tools unearthed in floods in Telangana
Recent floods in Telangana ‘s Mulugu district have led to a new discovery of Palaeolithic quartzite tools . Tools and axes were found in the sandy bottom of a stream that had dried up after the flood. These axes were found in a stream between Gurrevula and Bhupatipuram villages in Mulugu district . According to paleontologists, the stone ax belongs to the Early or Lower Palaeolithic period and is about 3 million years old . The Paleolithic era dates back to approximately 3.3 million years BC , with a duration of 10,000 years. Paleolithic hunter-gatherers used heavy quartzite and large tools to chop wood and hunt animals for sustenance. Furthermore, in the year 1863, the Geological Survey team of the East India Company discovered a Palaeolithic site at Attirampakkam near Madras (present day Chennai). The Palaeolithic culture has since been named the Madras hand-axe industry or Madrasian culture.

12 PFC gets approval from RBI for formation of finance company in Gifty City
Public sector Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has received approval for the formation of a finance company in GIFT City, Gujarat . PFC Chairperson and Managing Director Parminder Chopra said in a statement on Tuesday that the International Financial Services Center ( IFSC ) The unit will offer new business opportunities for PFC and contribute to the development of the country’s power sector. PFC said in a filing to the stock exchange that the company has received no objection letter from the Reserve Bank to set up a finance company as a wholly owned subsidiary in GIFT City. He said that the GIFT City platform provides a conducive environment for international lending activities and world-class infrastructure.

2023 is projected to be the hottest year on record, surpassing the 2016 record, with significant implications for global climate patterns and extreme weather events . 2023 was about 1.48°C warmer than the 1850–1900 pre-industrial level average. Nearly 50% of days were more than 1.5°C warmer than the same baseline. Record temperatures in 2023 lead to widespread heat waves, floods, droughts and wildfires. Heat waves were felt in various marine areas, including the Mediterranean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Indian Ocean, the North Pacific, and much of the North Atlantic Ocean. The onset of El Nino in 2023 played a role in increasing temperatures. El Nino is a natural weather phenomenon that warms surface waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean, contributing to higher global temperatures.
14 World Hindi Day: 10 January
Every year 10 January is celebrated as World Hindi Day . Its objective is to spread awareness about Hindi language among people across the world and to present Hindi as an international language. Hindi is one of the most spoken languages in the world. The first World Hindi Conference was held in Nagpur on January 10, 1975 . Representatives from 30 countries participated in this conference. In memory of this conference, the Government of India had decided to celebrate 10 January as World Hindi Day from 2006.
15 Actor Christian Oliver dies in plane crash
German -origin Hollywood actor Christian Oliver died in a plane crash in America . His two daughters also lost their lives in this accident. According to the report, the accident occurred on January 04, 2024, just west of the island of Petit Nevis near Bequia when the plane was en route to nearby St. Lucia. 51-year-old Oliver, his two daughters Madita (10 years) and Annik (12 years) and pilot Robert Sachs died in this plane crash. The 51-year-old German-born actor has played dozens of acclaimed film and television roles. Which includes the 2008 film “Speed Racer” and “The Good German”.
